Gothic rock band DoppelgangeR was founded in 1994 in Moscow. The debut album under the same name – DoppelgangeR was released in 1995 on a label ‘Metal-Agen/Soyuz’. One year later on the same label the band released one more album – ‘Serpent's Land’ and then left to a shadow for 4 years. From non-existence DoppelgangeR has returned on a boundary of centuries, in 2000, that partly was rather symbolical. And already in 2003 well-known Russian major label ‘Misteria Zvuka’ released the album ‘... Desire lost forever?’
The album has received contradictory responses in press. Without exaggeration it is possible to say that exactly this album has affected the further destiny of the band. Within just a few months the band has turned into the favorites of the Moscow goths.
At the end of 2004 the collective has celebrated its 10th birthday by anniversary concert in Moscow.
Behind the band’s back there are many successes: participation in ‘Russkaya Sborka’, organized by magazine ‘Play’; Performances on TV channels М1, ТV3, NTV+ and MTV in the program ‘Total Show’; Participation in the program ‘Silver’ on the radio station ‘Echo of Moscow’; Concerts with the bands Charon, Entwine, Darzamat, Deadbabes, and also numerous performances all over the country; Participation in the compilation of Russian dark stage ‘Colours of Black’, which subsequently was called by Mick Mercer “the best collection of 2004”; Performance at the 10th Anniversary International Specialized Exhibition ‘MUSIC – MOSCOW – 2004’.
In 2005 the band is reviewing more than semi-annual work on its new release.
‘Dancing’ is a title of the band’s new album and it can be quite called the confident statement to win a leading place among Russian gothic rock bands. The band has changed its label, undergone some staff changes and as a result, changed its sounding. Their fresh material sounds more softly and interesting, drawning towards classics of the gothic rock of the mid 90’s.
