Weirdly oversweetened chemical foam with a mouthfeel that suggests a petroleum byproduct. Nummy.

I don't even want to think about what it would do to her recipe.

I have a theory that the internet has, by virtue of the sheer ease of finding any information you could possibly need, created a generation of blithering morons who lack the basic ability to think through any problem at all. Why fire up any of your neurons when you can just ask the internet instead of thinking about it for 5 seconds?

I'm with you. Some people in the thread mentioned high fructose corn syrup, so I'm certain it's all kind of tasty.

Put me also in the camp of boggling when someone has no idea how to make whipped cream. It's cream. And you whip it.

Water, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, and hydrogenated palm kernel and coconut oil, plus some artificial flavorings and preservatives and a whole lot of air.

In the interest of preserving the health of their customers, Kraft foods recently changed their formula to use hydrogenated oils instead of partially hydrogenated oils. You know, so it's healthy.

It;s hard to screw up. :) You have to whip it for a really really REALLY long time beofre it starts turning into butter - way past the "hey! this totally looks like whipped cream!" stage. :D

Darn I was alreayd to snakr this too, but considering the recipe she's using (frozen no-bake cheesecake, which I've m,ad ewith my eyes closed) the Cool Whip woudl work just as well as the whipped cream.

(although the cream tastes way better)

In all fairness to the OP (yeah, she's a friend) I didn't have any clue as to how her question would pan out.

Apparently, it's petty (yeah I snark a lot myself) bullshit that leads to snark.

Seriously, I wouldn't know the answer to her question either. Is it a critical ingredient? No and yes, it's easy to figure out but as one that is her friend (seriously, she is smarter than most people I know and I have a lot of smart people in my realm) I have to say BOO to this.

eh everyone is open to snark but I wouldn't know how much a 2 pint whipping cream would make either.

OH, BTW, since ya'll are so high and mighty on this, she is putting together a gathering this week. I think most of you would appreciate the fact that putting together a gathering for those (hello, she is pretty much brand new to my city...yeah suck that up bitches) she is just getting to know.

I haven't had any in a few years, but I feel bad now for liking cool whip. Frozen Cool Whip, especially the french vanilla flavored, was the best thing in high school. I've never read the label before, though...

Over Thanksgiving, we did have one lady not understand why the foodie hosts were offended by Cool Whip. While they were being silly and melodramatic, it wasn't so much that she brought the stuff that was mind-boggling, it was that she didn't get why it was bad and why it didn't compare with the real stuff.
