stupid home-owner stuff :(
im worried my plaster ceiling in my kitchen is going to come down... like soon. its cracking and its been repaired a few times before i moved in. one of my neighbors had his come down and it ripped the cabinets right off the walls. im not as worried about my cabinets coming down, but i am worried about ALL MY DISHES. really worried.

so im planning to rip the ceiling down in the next week or so and live with rafters till about the end of october.

but here's my question. has anyone ever hired a handyman/contractor off craigslist? i buy and sell crap from there all the time, but ive never used a 'service' before. i don't have a ton of money and i just need someone who's got one of those brace things, cause i'd do it myself, but i have 10' ceilings, and there's NO WAY i can do that alone.

anyone?

or does anyone around here have any friends that can do handy work like this? i'm paying cash :D

I feel like Bart
In that episode where summer is ending and he hasn't done anything, so he has a whole checklist of things to do in a day...

so far in the last 24 hours i went swimming for the first time and i finally saw the big summer movie (the dark knight). and both were great.

fyi, jack is not a fan of swimming.

next summer i promise to start swimming before september.

The interview went well. It was also the fastest interview ive ever had, less than 15 minutes. my friend who refered me forgot to mention the panoramic views of the 35 floor in center city philadelphia. i had just stepped off the train back home when my cell rang and my friend called to say his boss loved me and they'd be calling to make me an offer. <-- this rules.

woo jobs :D

Panic in the streets of lansdowne
An out of the blue job opportunity fell in my lap last week. I wasn't looking for a job, i was planning on waiting until feburary. but a friend of me called me and said there was a job opening where he works. i told him if anything opened up, to call me. its my dream job... much better money, much closer to home, and i would take the train instead of having to drive, which is a dream come true for me, since i live about 10 minutes away by foot from the train station.

so he called on wednesday afternoon. i sent my resume in on friday afternoon and they called back in about a half hour. i have my interview tomorrow at 1pm. im kind of freaking out. i have my resume together. im working on my cover letter. i have my notepad of questions written up. i have the job description so i can be prepared with all of that info. i still have to wash and blow dry my hair. and i have to iron my outfit.

yeah, im kind of freaking out. but man would i love to land this job.
