This community hosts ongoing challenges for both authors and artists in an effort to encourage your creativity. There are a variety of prompts, and you can work at your own pace. Currently, there are two challenges underway:

Contests
This community runs both a weekly drabble contest and a bi-weekly oneshot contest. Members can participate by posting one entry to each contest.
Weekly Perfection
There will be a drabble contest every week, and the word count will be set. For instance, if the word count for the week is 300, then your entry must be exactly 300 words. No more. No less. Hit that mark, and you've achieved 'weekly perfection'. The length for entries will vary from week to week, ranging from 100 to 400 words. Entries that go over or under the prescribed word count will be disqualified, so edit your entry with care.
- New weekly themes are announced every Tuesday.
- Your deadline for entries will be Monday, 11:59 p.m. (PST).
- Polling for each contest begins on Tuesdays.
- Winners will be announced on Thursdays, shortly after noon (PST).
- All participants will receive a small token for their efforts.
- Banners will be provided for first, second, and third place winners.
Bi-weekly Oneshot Contest
If fussing with word counts isn't your thing, that's okay. A oneshot writing contest runs concurrenly with the weekly competitions. Entries must be 500+ words, which gives you plenty of room for creativity.
- Contest themes are announced well in advance. See the community's sidebar.
- New contests begin on alternating Mondays.
- Your deadline for entries will be on the second Thursday, 11:59 p.m. (PST).
- Polling for each contest begins on a Friday.
- Winners will be announced on the following Monday, shortly after noon (PST).
- Banners will be provided for first, second, and third place winners.
Contest Rules:
● Entries must incorporate the contest’s theme, and they must highlight Sesshoumaru & Kagome in some way. Their relationship can be either romantic or platonic, and your setting can be either canon universe or alternate universe.
● All drabble and oneshot entries must be new material, written specifically for this community and its themes. Fics that have been entered into more than one contest will be disqualified. In other words, you can’t write a story that fulfills the theme requirements for iyfic_contest, ebony_silks, and dokuga_contest, and enter it in all three places.
● We do permit sories with adult content. If your story contains graphic sexual situations, you must utilize Live Journal's content feature by selecting 'explicit adult content' from the pull-down menu on your entry form.
● Please do not publicly post your contest entries (or a link directing people to your entry here) until after the polls close and the results are revealed. This includes posting your story to your Live Journal.
● Please take the time to check over your stories for typographical and grammatical errors before posting. Do not be offended if other members point out any small mistakes that crop up; they’re just being helpful. We’re all learning.
● When submitting an entry, please follow our guidelines. Your posting should look quite a bit like this:

● Voting is open to members and watchers. If there are 5 or more entries in either category, first, second, and third place will be awarded. If there are 4 entries or less, then only first place will be determined. Voting will take place via screened comments to preserve your anonymity. Points are awarded to fics by a simple tally.
