I'm very pleased to announce the creation of barefootboys, a new Remus/Sirius seasonal prompting community in the spirit of dogdaysofsummer and its sister communities. Our first round of prompts will begin on 1 August, and we would be delighted to have you join us as a writer, artist, or watcher. Hope to see you there!

We were recently asked by the original dogdaysofsummer moderators not to reopen the community this year. While this is certainly a disappointment, this community (and, indeed, the very concept of a seasonal prompting community) is entirely their work, and we respect their wish to leave dogdaysofsummer where it is.

When I posted the poll a few weeks ago, it had seemed certain that we would be given the go-ahead to start the community back up. Nonetheless, I apologize for getting anyone's hopes up.

However...

That poll also let me know that there's still some interest in a summertime Remus/Sirius community. The old moderators are all right with us creating a new community, and I am fully prepared to do just that if you so wish. I have nearly a full month's worth of prompts ready to go, and if there are writers and artists who would like to have a go at them (as well as readers and viewers who would like to see their work), you have only to say the word.

So, I'd be grateful for your responses to this idea: how do you feel about a new community? Do you have any interest in helping to moderate? Any suggestions for a name? Sound off, slashers!

Greetings, fellow slashers! Permit me to introduce myself. I'm Hannah (penhaligonblue), and, if all goes well, I'll be your prompter and moderator for dogdaysofsummer this year. So, hello! I'm really looking forward to it.

Like nest_of_spiders, I'm hoping for your input about when to schedule this summer's round of prompts. Last year, dogdaysofsummer took place in July, but, of course, this summer we will be dealing with a book release! I realize that, because of this, some participants might prefer that dogdaysofsummer happen in August, as it did in 2005. However, I know that you may be returning to school and work commitments come August, or you may like the thought of being in the midst of dogdaysofsummer when Deathly Hallows hits stores. For this reason, I'm taking a poll to see when you want prompts to be posted.

Even if you won't be contributing fic or art, please let me know your opinion, since the readers and art-viewers play a large part in the community's activity, too!
