Title: Mello Makes a Porno
Author: faustian_angel7
Characters: Mello, Matt, Beyond Birthday, Roger, L
Rating: Let's call it R to NC-17.
Word count: 1700
Warnings: Language, description, underage awareness of things that should be left to the grownups L's age and older.
A/N: Ummm. Well, there's been timeline tampering, since Beyond is at Wammy's with Mello. But I've done this before, and I survived. So I'll tempt fate again. *clears throat* The title explains everything. Mello, in his attempt to become richer than Near and gain L's attention that way, makes a porno. I'd like to also add that I am deeply ashamed (and highly amused) by this piece.

This classroom, as you certainly know, is reserved for artistic endeavors that continually challenge the students to explore their... PENIS!? )

Title: Glory
Author: [info]vashti
Characters: Light, references to Misa, Ide and Soichiro.
Rating: Oh, so very very NC-17.
Word count: 2,898
Warnings: Strong language; quick mention of theoretical incest; rough anonymous group sex. It's not at all pretty. Of course it's not pretty, it's Light.
A/N: Some of you might remember this from such kinkmemes as [info]dn_kink. Yes, it's mine. If it's a problem, let me know and I'll pull it. :) Set during the timeskip, except - well, they never really tell us what he gets up to off camera, do they?

Title: Three Mothers
Authors: [info]speaky_bean
Characters/Pairings: Sachiko, Ms. Mikami, OC (Mello’s mother), and their children.
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 959
Notes: I haven't participated in a while, but I had some free time recently and thought I should. Anyway, I’m sure none of you are particularly surprised, but this story is about mothers. Sachiko, Ms. Mikami, and Mello’s mother are all waiting for their sons to come home. These three women approach the subject very differently. Anyway, enjoy!

Of course I miss you—I always miss you, every moment you’re not with me I do. )

Title: Rapunzel
Characters: Light and Sayu
Rating: PG-13
Length: 328
Author's Note: Just a short snippet this week. Kira victory AU, where Sayu is under house arrest for "anti-Kira activities". This probably tells you all you need to know. :/

This week's theme is:

pornography

~Entries are due by July 24th, at midnight (EST).

~Oh, what the hell did you expect? It's week number 69, I had to do something like this. Anyway, for this prompt, you can either write straight-up smut, or use pornography itself as a theme. I am giving you that choice because I'm just this wonderful, sweet, giving, obnoxious person like that. So what's up with Light's porn collection, is there anything that actually gets him off? Do you think Misa's ever been pressured to pose for pornography? Just feel like writing a couple of random people (say, Lind L Tailor and Midou?) going at it like rabbits for no apparent reason? Where is Mikami in all this smuttiness?

~This weekend I'm going to be at Otakon. Hopefully I'll be able to put up voting and winners as usual, but please don't be surprised if things are running a little bit late.

~Please put this in the subject and tag lines of your posts: week #69 - pornography. Tag with your user name, too.

Title: The Shape of God To Come
Characters: Light
Rating: G
Length: 510
Disclaimer: Death Note and its characters belong to Ohba&Obata. One of the pro-Kira passages was borrowed from http://the-legend-of-kira.blogspot.com and modified just a bit. The title alludes to H. G. Wells.
Author's Notes: Another Lurkerville dweller dared to stick her neck out. With something weird. And short. And yet old... But I looked at this piece and saw it fitting the prompt so nicely. Hey, let it be my way to celebrate the anniversary since discovering this wonderful community :D

Normally, I like to have winners which are about somewhat different topics, but this time that proved impossible. You guys picked [info]versipellis's oddly haunting and lovely story, about the Yagami family going to the beach, and I had little recourse but to pick [info]dayari's piece, which was about much the same subject. All of your entries were awesome, as is to be expected, but her story blew me away with its wonderful detail. So this week "the Yagami family goes to the beach" seems to be the winner! Anyway, wonderful work guys!

Title: Winter People
Rating: PG
Characters: L
Warnings: This is three to five minutes you will never get back.
Word Count: 600

Guess what guys! I forgot what day it was. As such, the voting post is...well, it's late, is what it is. But here it is! Anyway I'm thrilled to see what's come up this time--we have entries from some people who I really wasn't expecting to see entries from, but who are all excellent writers, and also entries from people who post all the time. Anyway, lovely work guys, and good luck in the voting!

Title: Tideland
Author: [info]dayari
Rating: PG-13
Pairings/Characters: Sayu, Light, Soichiro, Sachiko
Warnings: none
Word Count: 8,814
Notes: This takes place before the manga/anime, and the Yagami family goes on a vacation to Northern Germany. Now, I live in the midwest, but I've seen everything I mentioned in this fic myself, including the waiter XD, and I hope I... didn't gush too much about the awesomeness, especially of the Bremen central station? |D And I studied too much for my Phonology exam, and boy does it show.
(Also, this is my way of tipping my hat to every single person out there who has ever made the decision to learn German as a foreign language. I'm so grateful for it being my mother tongue because it must be so hellishly difficult to learn, to the point where it actually makes me absurdly happy to know that people are even trying. So, foreign language speakers of German out there? You rock, and I love you. Each and everyone of you! ♥ [/Language geekery.])

She's heard it said that some Germans call it 'Mordsee,' 'murder sea', instead of North Sea; and well, looking out at it from the window of their hotel room, she feels like she understands. )

Title: The Red Line
Rating: PG-13
Characters: L, passing appearances by Watari, and references to A, B, Mello, Near, and Matt.
Warnings: Descriptions of past tense yet bloody wounds, mentions of suicide, and some language.
Word Count: 5,200
Disclaimer: Death Note and its characters belong to Ohba/Obata.
Author's Note: This piece may look familiar to some of my ff.net and DA readers as it is kind of a remaking of something I have posted on those sites previously. This also shows my sheer fangirling over the entire city of Boston and the walk L takes is one I have taken on many occasions. If anyone is more familiar with Boston than I am and sees any errors in details, feel free to correct me but in a kind way. I also dipped into my own background story for L and took some liberties with his character in some places just to kind of play with his characterization.

This day had been completely unproductive, but then that was the point of a vacation.  )

This week's theme is:

waiting

~Entries are due by July 17th, at midnight (EST).

~This evening I saw Waiting For Godot with my friend [info]reka, and it was amazing, if a little confusing. I'm still trying to make sense of it, so the concept of waiting is on my mind at the moment. As such, your prompt for the week is waiting. Is Misa waiting for Light to show up for a date? How about Soichiro waiting for his son to be exonerated? Mikami waiting anxiously for the results of a pregnancy test? Anyway, ladies and gentleman, do your worst!

I'll actually be commenting on your entries later, but please believe me when I say that I have read them. I read all of them on a 5-hour-long bus trip. It was super. Anyway you all did great this week. The community winner's piece was impressive because of all the complex case details (god knows I would never be able to figure that shit out myself), and the mod's choice one just made me so happy. Yay Yagami family! Anyways, great job to all of you, and thanks for playing!

...[info]moot, can you make the banners again? I still haven't really heard from [info]marshmellooo. Thank you!

Title: Not Here
Characters: Light and L, with mentions of Soichiro
Rating: PG-13 for heavy subject matter
Word count 1600
Summary: "Vacation" means different things to Light and L. As Light grapples with his hatred for the person trying to prove that he is a homicidal mass-murderer, he's torn between pity and resentment as he spars with someone who has no home and no perspective. Things look pretty much the same way from L's point of view.
Notes: I wrote this in one go so I'd have something to enter the contest with. I've missed this community.

Soichiro wouldn't laugh. He'd only shake his head, and say two words. 'Not here.' 'Here' was home. 'Here' was a place he never wanted Ryuzaki. )

Title: We have a problem, Watari!
Characters: L, Watari (and a little of Mello)
