Today, for the millionth time I am trying to see Tropic Thunder. This is the hardest movie for me to see. I have scheduled to see this movie 3 times with someone and each time that I plan to see it everyone cancels on me. Today will be the 4th time that I try to see it. Someone wish me luck!!! I really want to see it and if it turns out to be the crappiest movie in the world then I really don't care.

Tomorrow, TRUE BLOOD COMES ON AT 9PM ON HBO!!!! *SQUEEE*

Did anyone watch Samurai Girl? Was it good? Should I watch it? I'll totally admit to watching 90210 if you admit to watching Samurai Girl. *grins mischievously* What? I couldn't help watching it. It was on TV and I was bored. XD Hee.

Are there any NEW TV shows that I NEED & MUST watch next week? Tell me people. I'll probably forget that someone cool comes on next week. *cough*FRINGE*cough*

Ненавижу нашу бюрократическую систему! Для того, чтобы всего лишь взять квитанцию на оплату штрафа за то, что ты невовремя пришел вклеить фотку в паспорт, нужно отстоять многочасовую очередь. Потратить три часа ради того, чтобы в течение одной минуты узнать, куда платить штраф, взять бланк и выйти из кабинета! А когда оплатишь, приходи заново стоять в очереди - уже для того чтобы отдать квитанцию, сдать паспорт и расписаться в протоколе. И все бы ничего, если бы к паспортистке то и дело не ходили сотрудники из соседнего райотдела для "я только спросить".
Интересно, в развитых странах Европейского сообщества тоже такая идиотская система? Или это остаточное явление совка?

1ST WEEK OF COLLEGE

very hectic week
i like all my classes so far
my major is Buisness Management/Finance with a minor in Economics
im only a freshman in college but i have already decided
my teachers are all nice and i think im going to do well in my first trimester
my last day of classes is dec 17th which is a good thing
some classes i dont have midterm and finals which is a relief
thats about it

I'M BACK! Hurricane Gustav was a real bitch. My mom and I went to stay with my grandmother because she had a generator. It was INSANE! The storm hit early Monday morning. We're close to the hospital, so we had electricity up to the very last minute. We had it up until about 2:00 pm. We haven't had electricity since Monday. We just got electricity not moments ago. I was incredibly miserable without air coniditioning. Fortunately, we had a window unit and hooked it up to the generator.

Baton Rouge (where my mom's house is) got hit incredibly hard. Trees are down EVERYWHERE! Half the city is still out of power. Most of the traffic lights in the city are down at the moment, so traffic is not the best thing to get into right now. I've tried avoiding getting on the road.

We had very little damage done to the house. We will most likely get a new roof which means I probably can't go back to California just yet. I need to stay here and support my mom. As much as I wanted to haul ass before the hurricane hit, I couldn't leave my mom behind.

Let's see... what am I forgetting? Have I said how miserable I was? AH! How are my BR bbs? I'm thinking of you and hope you get back on your feet real quick. Please fill me in on what I missed, I feel so out of the loop!

P.S. I'm making this post public so everyone can read it and feel sorry for me. No, not really... just updating everyone and letting them know what happened. Again, I hope everyone is ok. I know a lot of people got a lot of damage, but at least we are still alive!

If you can't see my last locked entry, then you were cut.

I'm very sorry. Some people had seemingly abandoned their journals, but if that wasn't you then I just felt like you had been on my flist for a long time, but we never really became close.

I considered cutting a bunch of other people, but I'm going to try this number before I do anything super drastic. Getting cut and cutting suck, so I want to avoid it as much as possible.

If you have strong feelings about being cut and want to say something, I'm screening comments. Please don't be mean though; this was not personal. If you had some reason you were gone and really, really want to be friends then I'll probably re-add you.

PS - Still on hiatus a little longer.

THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS?!

I visited the school that does the training for the A+ certification. The training for this one test is $3000. Three thousand dollars. THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS!

Not so much happening.

On the up side, they made it sound like the A+ test is hella easy, so maybe I can just study for it on my own. Of course, they also do training for a bunch of other tests, including all the Microsoft certifications and the CCNA, which is reputed to be, like, the hardest test in the whole entire world apart from maybe the bar exam. So maybe they just think the A+ test is easy because they're comparing it to these other tests. I will have to look into it some more.

This school was also a major sausage fest. The recruiter was a guy, both instructors who were there were guys, and the 8-10 students currently there were all guys. They didn't make a big deal out of it or act like it was cute that a girl wanted to try to work with computers or anything like that. They probably didn't even notice it. But I did. I've gotten used to this not being a problem, since I work in a library and librarianship is traditionally a female field. But now I'm remembering college and one of the reasons I didn't want to pursue computer jobs after I graduated: even if the guys aren't actively trying to make you feel inferior, the fact that it's a primarily male field is uncomfortable and makes the job harder. It doesn't have anything to do with the guys I'm working with (usually). It's just the patriarchy and internalized sexism. And I hate it.
