As a trade, someone gave me some Custom PUL that they wanted me to dye yarn to match with so they could knit up some longsies with it. In the process, I ended up dying swatches of yarn 10 different Wilton Cake Dye Colors.
The process, if you're interested: In 2 cups of HOT WATER, I put in about 1/16th of a tsp of each dye, and let it dissolve in the water. Then I added 2/3rd cup vinegar and added about 1/2 oz of prepared Lion Brand Natural Fisherman's Yarn (soaked in a vinegar bath for at least 30 min). On the stove, I let each pot cook for about 10-20 minutes - basically when the water was clear. Then I cooled the yarn. The pictures below were taken on my cell phone's camera because my 8 yr old camera decided it didn't want to take pictures. All crayon's listed below are Crayola Brand Crayons, out of a 96 crayon box
( Black )
( Brown )
( Red )
( Double Red )
( Royal Blue )
( Yellow )
( Leaf Green )
( Kelly Green )
( Orange )
( Violet )
( Pink )
( Group Shot )
Maeve, my 11 yr old DD is excited, because she gets to learn to knit with these, LOL
If you were wondering if I got my matches, I did ( and here they are )
I had fun doing this. But doing this around a holiday wasn't the best idea.. LOL

I know lots of people love the idea of baby leggings. I know I do. They are PERFECT to show off cute diapers while keeping legs warm and make changing wet diapers a snap.
We were at Joanns today when an end cap caught my attention. HALLOWEEN KNEE HIGHS. Absolutely adorable! They are perfect too! Leggings and socks in one! As soon as I can, I'll get pictures of a pair on Owyn but they go up to his diaper line with a little room to spare.
Watch the ads tomorrow, I know here in central ohio Joanns has an almost weekly ad, and being labor day it will have extra coupons. More in likely a 40% off one item and a 10% off entire purchase.
My only complaint is it doesn't have no skid markers on the bottom so he has to be on the carpet or have shoes on. Does anyone know how to make those no skid markers on the bottom of socks? Is it just fabric paint?
TIA

Does anybody know how many medium sized nappies/diapers could be made from half a metre (a little more than half a yard) of bamboo fleece? The fleece is 320gsm, and the cut is 1.5 metres wide.
I've started selling bamboo fleece through my cloth menstrual pad site, and just had a customer ask me this. I've never made nappies before, though, so I'm not sure what to tell her.
Thank you in advance!

So, all we need now are the "whispers", and things of that nature. I'm totally inept with sewing, and don't own a sewing machine, so just whipping something up is beyond me. Also, said baby is arriving immenently, so I'm not sure if i'd even have the time to make prefold covers.
So I ask you, CDing mamas, what are some of your favour WAHM websites for CDs? Bonus points if you can point me to ones in Canada, or who ship to Canada w/o obnoxious shipping fees!

I have diaper-making fabrics to sell. Because this is financially motivated, I'm not able to sell them at stupidly low prices. I can however sell them at a reasonable price plus cost of shipping to your zip code. Here's what I've got:
Custom Laminated PUL: I've got multiple prints of woven cotton that's been turned into PUL for diaper making. I'd like to sell it for $13 per yard or $6.50 half yard.
Bamboo Velour: I've got natural, white, boisenberry, blue, and yellow. I'll sell it for $7 per yard.
Lastin: I've got 100 yards of clear elastic suitable for making trainers, diapers, or swimsuits. Selling for $0.50 per yard.
Microfleece: I've got orange, grape, bright yellow, apple green, aqua, boisenberry. Selling for $6 per yard
Zorb: I've got yardage of this highly absorbent soaker material. I'll sell it for $5 per yard.

Does anyone know where I can find OBV? Wazoodle does not seem to carry it which sucks because they are a Canadian company. I would prefer Canadian suppliers to keep shipping costs down but when it comes down to it I am not picky.
Thanks mamas!

Bamboo Fleece (70% bamboo, 28% organic cotton and 2% polyester)
Bamboo double sided terry (70% bamboo, 28% organic cotton and 2% polyester)
Bamboo/hemp jersey (70% bamboo, 30% hemp)
I am planning on ordering a yard or 2 of one of these to make diapers and scraps to make mama pads. The fabric will be used for inners (next to Owyn's skin!).
What I specifically like to know: How does it feel? is it soft and yummy (like OBV) or scratchy? How does it hold up after several washes? I figure the bamboo/hemp will probably have the best ability to absorb. If you've sewed with one or more, what are your opinions on that?

I know, it's a dumb question, and I know there must be a more professional set of tools that "real sew-ers" use, but I don't know what they are :( Please help a n00bie out!
