An Amherst 4th
My boyfriend and I headed out to Amherst for the weekend to stay in his new apartment with his roommates and some other friends that came to visit. It was wonderful!

As you can see, he hasn't moved in yet. He has to live at home for the rest of the summer so he can work, boo. His roommates are working in Amherst, though, so they moved in in June. It's a really nice place! and on friday we (by which i mean my boyf, with me consulting) bought him a mattress, so the next time you see this room (and i'm sure you will) there will be a bed instead of sleeping bags!

after we finally drag ourselves out of "bed" and get washed and dressed, we head out...Kimo doesn't want his picture taken, silly boy. I pay for parking just in case, though i probably didn't need to; there was no sign saying it doesnt charge on holidays, so i didnt want to take a chance.

into amherst center we go, to the farmer's market! one of my favorite parts about being at school is this market...it is kind of small but has good noms!

breakfast (ciabatta bread with the most amazing dark chocolate chunks--a saturday staple for me) and pretty potatoes flowers and carrots!

we wander around while we're waiting for my friend to show up...they had this huge creepy apple that was filled with balloons that were blown around by a fan for the kids to play in. it scared me. just as i was about to call her, my friend sarah w appeared! ain't she gorgeous?
we hang out for a while with sarah in her apartment which i forgot to photograph...

i sneak a pic of the boy entering DD, where we score doughnuts for the whole gang, then i get super-cheap gas! this is the cheapest i've seen except for places that do cash-only prices...

back at the apartment (they're in the bottom left one), we find--surprise, surprise--a lot of gaming going on. my bf and alllll his friends are huge gamers; i'm not, but i'm good at watching! I check my sites on ed's computer as michelle branch watches me from his second monitor...the boy is OBSESSED. 9 posters, both comp backgrounds, phone background...we mock him endlessly. oh, and that's kimo on the floor, avoiding pictures once again. *sigh*

i get sleepy and go take a nap, then groggily call my mom to check in...then join the boys (leonard, one roomie; colin, former roomie and friend; and ed) in ed's room where they are playing a game called Ninja Gaiden. it's pretty fun to watch them kick "boss" butt.

we eventually head out to eat--subway for most of us, taco bell for k and ed. then home to change and hang out more before heading into town.
leonard had a surprise before we went out--

pinata! (dunno how to do the tilde, sorry!) it was a willy wonka one, filled with nerds, bottle caps, runts, laffy taffy, and sweetarts. nom. fun stuff! that's adrien, the other friend who was visiting, in the first 2 pics.

adrien had fun "editing" this picture of michelle for ed...ed was amused. luckily. lol, they're so nice to each other :-)

we head over to the umass stadium, where the fireworks will be, and play some frisbee even though it's windy. and can i just say, that sun was WELCOME. it was shining in our eyes in the morning, and we almost complained before we realized: THE SUN WAS OUT. here in MA, that's been pretty rare this past month...this weekend was just what the doctor ordered!

after a restroom break, we head over to where the festivities are happening...we walk around a bit and colin and leonard get ice cream, then we play some more frisbee to pass the time as the sun sets and the moon rises...

we eventually head towards our car and find a good place to sit that also will give us an easy exit...kimo finally lets me take a picture of him--we's so cute. oh, and ed is so cool, he wears his sunglasses at night :-P
hopefully this will work--it's the finale of the fireworks show! it was a really good show, over 30 minutes long. it was just so COLD out though, i was shivering the entire time. but it was fun!

back at the apartment, leonard and i crack open my new SoCo Reserve to warm up :-) it is GOOD. I also indulged in a cinnamon doughnut...omnomnom.

pee break, then i make myself my favorite drink, jaeger and coke. mmmmmm so good.my brother got me those mini-bottles, they're cute and just the right amount to mix with a glass of coke.

i decide i'm still hungry, and go to make popcorn...the first bag burst and burned beyond edibility (is that a word?), so i try again and get better results.

the boys play more brawl, and I tipsily start a new book.

as midnight rolls around, i make myself more food to soak up the alcohol--this time an english muffin with butter. bedtime didn't come for another hour or so, but it was pretty much more of the same...
hope everyone else had a happy and fun fourth!
