Lord, what fools these mortals be!
A day spent mostly in Central Park, captured entirely with my cell phone camera.

Most days begin and end with me walking my dog. It is about 1:45am right now, and I am tired.

Ignoring the remains of my last laundry, I fall asleep to DVRed Scrubs episodes.

I wake up to glorious weather and an itchy shoulder.

After putting up a pot of joe, I start my day with another walk.

At least the walk is pleasant, strolling to the Brooklyn Promenade to admire -- and, yes, show off -- the view.

Hazelnut would admire the view, too, if she weren't 'hunting' cars on the road below us.

Coffee welcomes me home, and I settle into some emailing and photo editing for a bit before starting the fun part of my day.

The fun part of my day begins, with me heading to Central Park via the A train (unfortunate Weekend/Holiday MTA rerouting ensued, but rest assured I arrived eventually).

My friends (and their friends) have been dutifully waiting on line since about 7 or 8 am to score free Shakespeare in the Park tickets.

Success! We are seeing A Midsummer Night's Dream!

However, the show starts at 8pm -- so we have several hours to kill. First on the agenda: Drop off bags/blankets at one of my friend's midtown office.

Next, we fight our way through the Times Sq crowds to get food. I don't recall why my buddy made that face, but I assume it has to do with the slowness of tourists...?

We gorge ourselves on family-style Italian at Carmine's. Molto buon!

Getting cones on our hike back uptown defeats the whole purpose of walking it off.

With a few more hours until curtain, we relax in the park. It feels so damn good to be barefoot on the grass; my shoes are off within seconds.

We enjoy various stages of chilloutness.

Nearing 7pm, we slowly meander to the Delacourt Theater.

Bethesda Fountain is always lovely.

Some of us want to pee before the play, so we suffer through using what is possibly the moistest and grungiest toilets outside of Trainspotting (though admittedly, many of New York's public facilities are competing for that title)...

Let the play begin! The Delacourt ushers are camera Nazis, so after sneaking that one blurry photo I put away my camera (phone) which died anyway.
The BW image is stolen from a Google search to give a better sense of the theater, which is an amazing space. The play itself was very funny, especially the troupe of actors performing the play-within-the-play,Pyramus and Thisbe (Tim Blake Nelson played the bumbling director, Peter Quince).
Thanks for reading!.
