Seriously, it seems like police dramas are starting to move toward the direction of tactical response. Me, of course, I'm loving it.
I'm not sure when it started since I can't really think of an American show that...hell, I can't think of an American tactical drama. I considered The Unit, but that's a military unit.
The Canadians are bringing us Flashpoint. Thank you, Canada. I just watched the pilot for the new Australian drama, Rush which I think may actually be even better. Where Flashpoint looks like it's only going to deal with the characters in a periphery function kind of like the original CSI did (which I don't mind, so long as they include some stuff), Rush seems to be closing in on the characters. It's about not only a day in the life like Flashpoint, but you also see the issues going on in the unit.
I also think that Rush will have my vote because they have an openly bi female as one of their characters. I checked the website and read the character bios and it was right there in print. Gods, I wish American television could get away with that.
So...while I said that tactical units are the new trend, I just realized that those are the only two I can think of. Does anyone have any other shows like this they can recommend? Have the Brits done one? Is American TV gonna get off it's butt or are we going to continue to beg from the Canadians? Please tell me there are more like this coming? Please?
