The Original Community for sharing Disney Icons

Here is the premium place to view and share Disney icons. Depending on what the icon creators requests, icons are either for sharing or for viewing. Please read the rules before joining and posting.

This community is moderated by Natalie (

royal_highness) and you may e-mail her if you have any questions or concerns regarding the community and its rules. (Please include the words "Disney icons" somewhere in the subject line of the e-mail so it won't be confused with unimportant messages.) Please do not e-mail her, text message her, or comment on her personal journal about posting access. There is already a designated place for those requests and they will be ignored and dismissed when found out of place.

Because of problems with abuse, posts made to this community will now be moderated and must be approved by the maintainer before being posted. Please read the rules.

COMMUNITY RULES:

1.) Only Disney icons are allowed here.
Movies like Sleeping Beauty, Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mary Poppins, Treasure Planet, Brother Bear, Dumbo, Cinderella, and Toy Story are just a few examples of Disney movies. Classic Disney stars (such as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck), video games (such as Kingdom Hearts), Broadway productions (such as Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Adia), and television series and movies (such as The Wonderful World of Disney, Lizzie McGuire, The Weekenders, and Recess) as well as Disney classic movies are encouraged themes for icons here.

Movies such as Shrek, Anastasia, Ice Age, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, The Swan Princess, Titan A.E., and Peter Pan (2003 version) are examples of films that are not made by Disney and therefore icons for such movies are not be allowed.

In addition, special exceptions will be made for James and the Giant Peach, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and any US release of a Studio Ghibli film (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, etcetera) since these films were not created directly by Disney, but still heavily promoted by the company.

If you're uncertain or confused as to whether a movie is Disney or not, take a close look at the movie poster, DVD or video case. If you can see no mention of Disney in the credits or promotion, the movie is probably not Disney. Still confused? Just post your question in one of the two highly recommended Disney communities disney_movies or disneyfreaks or e-mail the moderator (see above).
2.) Icon requests are not allowed.
The posting of entries asking for a certain icon to be made or customized for them are prohibited. If you would like an icon created or customized, your best bet is probably to make a request as a comment to a previous post of a talented icon creator you admire. All posts containing a request will be deleted.

If you still find it difficult to get what you would like, try participating in our sister community, disney_requests. Just make sure to read the rules before joining and posting.
3.) Please keep posts on topic.
This community is only meant for posting icons. Asking about where to find pictures, how to do certain techniques, or asking for advice are not allowed. Any and all off-topic posts will be deleted.

If you have a question about making icons and are unable to find what you need by your own searches, look below for some links to areas that may help you.

Layout banners, wallpapers, mood themes, pictures, and screen captures are also not allowed in this community. There are already plenty of communities for these resources already (just look below for a few recommended links).

Also, community promotions will not be allowed.
4.) No stealing icons.
Always leave a comment if you are going to take someone's icon. If you take the icon and pass the work off as your own or customize a icon without the creator's permission, you will be removed from the community. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

Anyone who steals an icon also is subject to have their names and crimes reported by the victims on i_theft or any of the other communities dedicated to icon theft on livejournal.
5.) Be lj-cut tag friendly.
If you're posting more than five icons, please consider using the lj-cut. Since some people have slow connections, it is best to be considerate of them and their friends pages.

6.) Anonymous comments are not allowed.
The community voted and anonymous comments will not be allowed.

If you are an honest person who enjoys watching the community and wants to participate, I suggest you join livejournal if only for that reason.
7.) No sticky caps or heavy internet slang.

8.) Always respect people's opinions and feelings.
Everyone here just wants to enjoy themselves and share beautiful work. Many people have worked very hard to make their icons and share them. They are entitled to their own thoughts, opinions, and emotions. Please respect them and their beliefs. Flame wars will not be tolerated here.

First time violators of these rules will be warned and may have their entry deleted depending on the seriousness of the offense. Users who violate the rules more than once will be suspended from posting for two weeks. Users who violate the rules more than twice will be removed from the community.

- If you have a question about how to make an icon, use a technique, or you just need general information about icons, icon_tutorial and iconcritique are two highly recommended LiveJournal communities to check out.

- Not sure about how to give proper credit for an icon? Well, it depends on the icon creator so it is always a good idea to ask before taking, but the most common way to give credit is in the keywords. Here is a tutorial about how to enter keywords for your icons as well as how to give credit. As a general rule, though, you can never give too much credit so don't be shy about also crediting in journal entries as well as in user informations.

- Have an idea for a specific icon or a request? Well, don't post it in this community. It is against the rules to post it in this community, but we do have a wonderful sister community run by lilypads that is made specifically for such requests. Join disney_requests and post your request there, but only after reading the rules (of course).

- Not sure if a movie is a Disney movie? Post your question on either the disney_movies or disneyfreaks communities and someone there will be sure to answer your question.

- Looking for fonts? Try Da Font, Font Garden, Font Paradise, and Font Magic. DisneyKingdom.com also provides a nice collection of Disney-themed fonts for download. In addition, fontaddicts, fontaholics, and fontwhore are three great communities dedicated to fonts.

- Have an icon, but you can't remember (or don't know) who made it? Well, don't post in this community since that would be off-topic, but it seems that i_theft is a good place to ask such questions. Just remember that it is best not to use an icon unless you know who made it and you are sure that you have their consent to use it.

- Are wallpapers, layouts, banners, mood themes, etcetera of interest to you? Try our exceptional sister community, disneydesigns.

- Searching for pictures and screen captures? If you've already worn out the image search engines at Google and Altavista, we have compiled a list of recommended places to find images. cap_it and screen__caps are also highly recommended for quality screen captures.

- Has someone stolen your icon or using it without giving credit? There are quite a few communities out there, such as i_theft, that were created just for such situations. You may also try to e-mail the maintainer of this community for help and intervention.

- Wondering what movie to make icons from next? The community participated in a poll that might help you out.

- Looking for a few icon contests to compete in? Have a competitive streak? We recommend checking out disney_icontest and toon_icontest.

- In need of a good (and free) image host? Photobucket seems to be the most popular and reliable service these days, but there is also a list of popular services available that is quite useful.

- Need help with basic HTML? There are several great tutorials out there on the web, but one favorite is Funky Chickens.
