Hello citizens! It's time for your regularly scheduled mod tl;dr.

Chip Events; we want to say that we like them just as much as you do, but we want to pull in the reins a little bit. We've seen a lot of the same thing over and over again, so we're going to lay down some guidelines.

Player Plots; we've noticed a lack of these lately. Please know that we are not going to be providing constant mod plot. If you and your character are bored, we encourage you to come to us with a player plot to liven up the city a bit. However, we won't be able to give the go-ahead for all player plots; we'll roughly be following the same guidelines as we've given for chip events.

If you'd like to run an event, we'd like you to post to the plot suggestions post with a rough but thorough outline of the event, including the premise, the body of the event, and most importantly where other characters will fall into the mix. What we're looking for in these events is to bring the citizens of Discedo a little bit closer (whether in good spirit or bad), so make sure you clarify how that'll happen. If we see a new and innovative idea that will push characters out of their comfort-bubbles, we'll even help you run it (to a reasonable extent, of course).

Also, player-run organizations such as Shinji's bar or Alpha's cafe. These need to be initiated by players and run by players using [info]playmyaceor character journals to keep things organized. If you want to start something up, all you need from the mods is permission to use the building or space. From there it is up to you to keep information up to date. The mods will always be available to answer questions and help out, but it is not up to us to start these kinds of things. That's not why we play our characters.

Survival Horror; conditions in Discedo are less than satisfactory for all of the characters, and everyone in the city should know it and be affected by it. If they're not the type of person to be vocal about the bad conditions, you, as a player, should at least be aware of the bad shape everyone and everything in town is in. Vocalizing it in game is encouraged if it's in-character for them, of course; keep in mind that it's most likely been complained about already and the citizens of Discedo that have been here a little longer have adjusted. However, that doesn't mean the bad conditions in town aren't a problem.

If you're unclear exactly what your character's situation is, most of the information can be found in the mod journal:
+ Scientist Info & Requests; information on what is restocked and how often.
+ Monster List; which monsters are currently in the city and where. Updates made on this list have been and will continue to be advertised in modposts.
+ FAQ; always good for a re-read!

Hiatuses; please, if you're only going to be gone for a few days, we'd rather you didn't post to the OOC. The OOC comm is meant for the players to keep each other up-to-date on current events in the city and for announcing hiatuses that may affect gameplay on a larger scale. We know our game moves fast, but we should hope that one player missing a few days won't inconvenience too many other people.

The Current Chip Location; ...isn't going to be released any time soon! We know you guys can come up with other things to do with your characters that don't require the use of their powers. This goes back to the very first point we made about chip events: be imaginative. Keep in mind, when this game started, the very first chip location was unknown to everyone for a long time, so keeping it a secret isn't a new development. Also, if your character is not a fighter without their powers, plenty of characters have organized training groups that specialize in different fighting techniques, both hand-to-hand and weapons-based. If you still want your character to kick butt even without powers, please consider getting involved in some of those events.

FOURTH WALL EVENT END

THE FOURTH WALL EVENT IS NOW OVER!


Another quick reminder:
  • Backtagging entries from the event is completely encouraged, but please don't post any more 4th wall entries after this post!
  • Characters CAN notice the absence in memory for two days, but the reasons why won't be apparent
  • Like last time, characters can feel like they've been dreaming for two days; however, they will not remember anything specific, so no "AND THEN ___ CAME TO VISIT ME." The most they'll remember dreaming about is an increase in Discedo's population.

    1. This is your mid-week reminder for November's ACTIVITY CHECK. If you haven't yet, take a look and make sure your character's not on the list! The check ends on November 17th, so make sure you're caught up by then! The final remove list will be posted on the 17th around 11:59 pm EST, so you have until then to post. ♥

    1.5: 4th wall day posts WILL count for the activity check, since that takes place on the 16th and 17th.

    2. Our monthly HMD (how's my RPing?) meme will take place on the 19th, as usual.

    Police Force

    Because apparently it's Mod Spam Night!

    Many of you may have noticed a scarcity of the Police Force as of late, and there's a reason for this! Basically, we've had an attrition of members, a loss of a leader, and a loss of interest from the community in general.

    Now, the Police Force in kind of a big deal, because without it, we've got nothing left but vigilante justice and a jail that can't be kept up. All of our lovely, cherished villainous creatures out there could simply run amok! And we've got a lot of law & justice types out there that wouldn't be too keen on that. But at the same time, without enough of the playerbase behind it, it simply can't be upheld.

    SO

    We'd like to talk to you guys about it.

    This is Halloween~

    Trick or treat,

    Give me something good to eat!


    It's that time of year again! Unfortunately, the Scientists will not be making an appearance this year (or will they?). But the morning of Halloween begins, clear and cold, cloudy as usual.

    First comes the treats: citizens will find a small plastic cauldron of candy outside of their doors. Every inhabited building or apartment will have some, but not the uninhabited ones! Better take care, because the Scientists aren't handing out toothpaste to go with all these sweets. There will also be pumpkin pie, enough for everyone to have a slice but not enough for seconds, sorry to say.

    In addition to the sweets, each person in town will find that they have a mask to wear, should they choose to do so. Some of these may be fancy or nice, or even just plain. Some may be just plain silly, such as mascots, superheroes and the like. People will have one mask each, but you can certainly swap if you're so inclined!

    Jack o' lanterns will be in front of each inhabited building (the high school is included, here): two per building, one on each side of the main entrance. These are large, and the faces in them aren't just playing scary, they're downright unsettling. Are those eyes following you, or is your mind just playing tricks? The candles will light when it starts getting dark, and burn through the night.

    Then come the tricks: the Marshall Street apartments have been toilet papered while you weren't looking. As for Latimir? Babydolls have been stuck with glue to the walls of the hallways (remind you of anything?). Gruesome-looking, maybe, but their big eyes shine and they still smile, like nothing in the world is wrong.

    Things seem okay during the day, but when night falls, those tricks start getting a little bit scary. If your character is of the spiritually aware variety, they might get a little antsy as the day wears on...this might affect characters who are chipped, too, although to a lesser agree.

    The televisions and radios in town all turn on with the soft fuzz of static: this continues through the night.

    Later on, into the later hours of the night, when people are winding down and preparing to sleep, you might hear the faintest, shrillest scream in the distance. It sounds a little girlish, but also a little inhuman. It carries on, and then stops. Then a while later, you hear it again, a little louder, a little less human. Once more, after about half an hour, even louder: this one echoes.

    Then it stops, and the static from the televisions continues until morning.

    Everything starts the morning of Halloween, October 31st, which is 24 hours from now.

    Otter-mod is a pretty cool guy. eh plays sum guys and doesn't afraid of anything.

    When the Boogeyman goes to sleep at night, he checks under his bed for Aly-mod.

    Adri-mod has taken the innocence of everyone in the game, by default.


    Love them. LOVE THEEEEM. However, as you know, this means the departure of Linda-mod as well as Jenna-mod, our original head mod. Both will still be in your base killing your d00ds, but due to school and time restraints they can't mod anymore. Linda, Jenna, you'll be missed a whole lot and have both been amazing to work with. ♥

    Thank you to everyone that applied and showed interest in helping us out. We were completely floored by everyone's response! The application team has also been chosen, and applications are now open again! They'll be reviewed today and Wednesday, and will be back to normal schedule next week.

    REMINDERS

    1. We're right in the middle of our monthly ACTIVITY CHECK (which will be updated first thing tomorrow ♥). If you haven't yet, take a look and make sure your character's not on the list! The check ends on September 17th, so make sure you're caught up by then!

    2. Our monthly HMD (how's my RPing?) meme will take place on the 19th, as usual.

    3. Mod applications are still open until the 16th! For anyone who might be interested.

    4. Some important event details:

    We've been approached with a few good questions that we need to clear up! First, the event begins tomorrow morning, which is roughly eight hours from RIGHT now. People will not be feeling the effects until then.

    Second, all characters will remember everything that happens when the event has run its course. Third, we would appreciate a heads-up for any deaths/murders/property damage that occur during the plot, something unofficial over AIM would be fine. Fourth, non-human characters (such as robots, demons, etc) can be affected by the event if they have their chips in. Also, if anyone wishes to do any plotting involving characters, the event post is serving as an amazing place to get together and run some ideas.
