| About: | Okay. This is a community for those who are interested in Disability Studies. I noticed that there are quite a few people with it listed in their interests, but no community for us to gather and discuss things. Disability Studies is an emerging, interdisiplinary field. The main focus is the social definition of disability instead of the medical. The social definition is that disability is "not as a physical defect inherent in bodies...but rather as a way of interpreting human differences" (Garland-Thompson and Bruggeman). |
