Trouble with After Effects

Any have an idea what I am doing wrong?:

I capture 1080i footage from my HDR-FX1 in Premiere, and have it from there. When I bring it into After Effects it's got the correct aspect ratio, but when I try to render it out it squishes the aspect ration. I have to take the footage in through Super and for the aspect ratio, to get it back to the 1.333 with a 640x480 file.

Any idea how to remove this extra step?

FLASH question

I have several HUNDRED paper drawings I scanned in that I want to trace in FLASH.

Other than "import to library" or - what I am doing, is copying one of the layers in Photoshop and dragging them over and trying to align them by hand (ack!)

is there an easier better way to import a psd file with about 300 layers?

this is the web cam edited version that i want to scan in and make into a crisp flash movie

<lj-embed id="51" />

This SHOULD be simple. It sure used to be. Exporting from Final Cut Pro to use in DVD studio pro.

I go to file.... export.... and then I thought I would just choose MPEG 2

My chpices are mpeg 4, among others, which isnt right

if I make it as a gigantic ".mov" it says "wrong format"

what should I export it as?

Its a 2 hopur piece, should I break it in two and re assemble in DVDSP?

Should I sell my Sony VX2100 now? Im thinking that when HiDef becomes standard next year, all SD stuff will plummet in worth. Id probably only get half what I paid for it now, bit much less later. Yes? No?

Do you think Hi Def Cameras with go up or down in price next year?

Whats the best Hi Def camera to get?
Someone told me that the ones that will take mini dv tape only shoot in letter boxed hi def (1080 by 70?) is that true?

The TRUE hi def cameras don't use tape - they have build in hard drives a/o use SD cards? is THAT true?

Im an independent filmmaker- and Im thinking that shooting stuff now in true big hi def will make my stuff more sellable in the near future?

any experience in "bumping up" SD to hd?

I have a dozen tapes of a band that were shot in sd mini dv- if I want to make a documentary on them and stretching the image up to hi def OR ,making the sd footage a shrunken box within the hi def image- play it off like I did it on purpose ( I've seen shows on ESPN where its apparently old standard def footage in a box within the screen.

I've played standard def dvds on a hi def TV and it looks ok, a little too horizontally stretched- bit I wonder if anybody but a video person would even notice that.

video capture problems - sound

I have a problem, got an old hi8 camera, using a digitiser and the software is Ulead7 [also got 9]. after much faffing about I can get the video to capture but on my laptop the sound is there but really really quiet, while on the PC it doesn;t seem to be there at all. Does anyone use Ulead software who might be able to give some hints? have looked for every instance of volume control and mute options I can find and all those are now set ok. I just can't get sound captured.

Hello! Some friends and I are about to attempt our first full-length video. I need advice on finding some things for it. Some background information:

We're certainly not expecting anything magnificent, we're just some really amaturish high-schoolers making a video for fun. We really have no higher aspirations for this than to be a little youtube video. But we do want to try to do a quality job.

It's going to be a satire of bad horror movies with some political themes.

Music
My friends and I certainly don't have the resources to make our own music, so I'm going to have to find music on the internet (and of course I'll credit it). Of course I'm willing to pay for the music, but unfortunately, I run into problems doing that through iTunes, as they sell you protected music files that cannot be used in a video file. So, I have two questions regarding music:
1. Could anyone recommend me any songs that might be appropriate for our movie? We need some suspenseful, foreboding music, as well as some music that would go well with a chase scene. Anything that sounds very stereotypical horror would be great.
2. What are some good sites to obtain music or sound effects? Again I am willing to pay but I need to be able to receive unprotected files.

Software
Right now, my only video-editing software is Windows Movie Maker. I don't need anything really advanced, but I'd like to step it up. What software would you recommend? Anything free is great, but again I am willing to pay, since I will continue to use it in the future, but I'd say my limit is $300 at the very most. I'm not looking for any specific features, I'd just love to be able to do more than what WMM has to offer.

A huge thank you extended in advance!

advice on lecture filming/sharing

I have to get a camera for work, so our staff development person can record trainings and lectures to share with other people.

Simplicity is the important thing here, as the people using this won't be the best computer users.
Quality isn't much of an issue, but recording time is.

I'm leaning towards a hard drive based camera, since trainings can go all day, and I can foresee changing tapes or dvds resulting in a call to the helpdesk (me).

The JVC Everio cameras seem to meet the recording time requirements, and the share stations look pretty easy to use.

Has anyone had any experience with these (or similar) products, or with doing the same type of filming?

thanks!

INDIANA JONES draws STAR WARS!

Fan of INDIANA JONES and STAR WARS are already aware of numerous instances in which the Indy films reference the films from the "galaxy far, far away..." (Did you know that in Temple of Doom, the sound the plane's engines make when it runs out of fuel is the same sound the Millennium Falcon makes when the hyperdrive fails?) Now, paying homage reverses in my latest How To Draw STAR WARS video!

In this episode, I dress up as the famous archeologist, (can you tell I'm having way too much fun with this?) seeking the Temple of Vader. I uncovers the mysteries of the Original STAR WARS Style D "Circus" poster, and prepare to illustrate it's bookend piece for REVENGE OF THE SITH. With the aid of Lucasfilm's Pete Vilmur, you'll see the entire process for getting a STAR WARS poster approved and the many different sketches an artist often goes through. You'll also see how I incorporate digital technology to accommodate changes to the traditional sketches.

How To Draw STAR WARS! Episode 10 of 20: Sith Circus Sketching!
<lj-embed id="8" />

You can check out the first Indy-themed episode on MySpaceTV above. As well, you can see a higher res 640 X 480 version at StarWars.com by clicking HERE. Last but certainly not least, you can also download this episode as a Quicktime movie right HERE.

Hope you enjoy!
