| Steve Irwin |
[Jun. 5th, 2008|02:15 pm] |
I finally got around to doing a scrapbook page about Steve Irwin. I've been thinking about it for ages, and have had a half-finished paper version lying around for months now. Well, I finally got round to doing it, albeit digitally instead of on paper. Just thought I'd share.
The journaling says: 'Steve Irwin wasn't your typical celebrity. He was different. Real. Honest. He made a difference. Everything he did was a fight on behalf of those who couldn't speak for themselves. He was brave, courageous and inspiring. Sure, we had a giggle at his 'Crikey, she's a beaut' accent...but we admired the hell out of him. Here's to you, Steve. Long may your legacy live in on in the hearts of all who you inspired.'
The pictures, title and signature are from his website (www.crocodilehunter.com), and no, I didn't have permission to use them. I'm hoping no one will mind, since it's just for my own personal scrapbook. I started off with a template by Michi (fuchur74.blogspot.com although I made lots of changes to it - still worth acknowledging. The font is Angelica. I used Adobe Photoshop.

| My first digital scrapbook page! |
[Apr. 26th, 2008|06:58 pm] |
I'm making a scrapbook for our family! Instead of a normal one with just pictures and journal entries, I'm making it a multi-use book by centering the theme around family recipes. Here's the first page I made!
To explain the stuff in the little boxes:
Although my Grandmother (who spells her name "Granma", NOT "Grandma") likes to cook, she's... well. Let's just say she's not famous for foods in a good way. She does, however, have an unbelievable green thumb. That said, on any of the veggie pages, I'm going to include a "Granma: Garden Guru" area to give her personal gardening tips on the vegetable featured.
The other tidbit is for me. I love to cook and have a few recipes that have become famous within the family, but my love is really weird little kitchen gadgets. Throughout the book, there will be a few little tidbits about gadgets, like a Mandolin Slicer or Corn Stabbers, to help make cooking and eating easier. They are called "Steph's Tool Time Tidbit"s.

| A new layout... |
[Apr. 11th, 2008|08:36 am] |
I use Adobe Photoshop and all the elements, paper, everything are freebies I have downloaded.
Cherish The journaling says: ‘This photo of Nanny & Pop was Pop's favourite picture. Taken a few months after their wedding, Pop carried it in his wallet for more than fifty years, hence the tattered state'. These were my maternal grandparents, Stanley George Bone and Violet Agnes Theakston, photo taken summer 1938. This is for the Heritage Layout Challenge - grandparents on Scrapbook.com. All papers, bow and flower are from www.ScrapbookFlair.com. Cherish title & heritage brad – I don’t remember where I got these from, so can’t credit at the moment. Ribbon is by Vicky Stegall (www.oscraps.com) |

| New Digi Community! |
[Mar. 9th, 2008|05:10 pm] |
Hello digi-scrappers!
danielefton has created a new community for digital scrapbooking and since I'm not really into digital anymore I am letting you know his is around and will be better moderated and hopefully more active.
Find My Digital Scrapbook at:
http://community.livejournal.com/digi_scrapbook
And, in fact, I will be probably closing this community in the upcoming days after I feel confident everyone knows it's "moved."

| Somerset Digital Studio |
[Mar. 9th, 2008|12:07 pm] |
I was wondering if anyone else picked up Somerset Studio's Digital Studio. It's a new annual publication, and just came out on March 1. It's got lots of examples of digital collage, ATCs and scrapbooking.
I felt some of the technique articles were a little light on information, but the magazine has definitely given me some neat ideas. All kinds of styles were covered, from romantic vintage work to industrial, gothic collage. I especially liked the work of Louise Robinson. And there is an AMAZING Monarch Butterfly layout by Kaitlyn Gonzalez that has inspired me to scrapbook some of my own flower and butterfly shots. |

( Read more... ) I made this using pretty much just Adobe Elements and my own photos. I wanted to play with hue/saturation layers. I'm not sure if this is too beige. What do you think? |

This may or may not be appropriate here, but I thought I'd give it a shot.
This is a chance to do something fun and interesting with your scrapping as well as incredibly helpful. Although this is not one of the communities I originally posted in, I thought that I might be able to get some extra participants. If this needs to be deleted, please let me know.
A little less than one year ago, I posted this to a few communities on lj:
( I know that a lot of you only make items for yourselves, or usually make items to sell, but I have a request. I need paper cards, postcards, little felted cards, small books, pressed flowers, etc, etc, etc. Wait! Don't stop reading! I'm not exactly just asking for a handout. I have good reason... )
So many of you responded that I ended up making a community to post about Grandma's progress and how things have been going. It was also a place where I could thank all of you for everything you've done.
http://community.livejournal.com/getwellgrandma/profile
In less than two weeks it will be one year since my Grandmother quit smoking.
If you guys have time, I'd love it if you could read the most recent entry there and consider sending a card to my grandmother and/or grandfather. It would mean so much to me and them, as well. Thank you all so much for everything you've already done and in advance to those of you who end up sending something to them.
Thanks, "Pooh" |

+ Please excuse how goofy I look whilst crying. Both of the kits I used were from Shabby Princess. The first layout the date font is called Soopafresh, in the second page the font I used is called Pea Jenny. I'm sorry, but I don't remember where they came from. |

+ This is the first digital scrap page I've ever made with a decent program. I'm very excited to have Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended, as one of my resolutions for 2008 is to scrapbook more frequently.
+ I'm trying to figure out a system for organizing scrap packs on my computer and I was wondering how you all do it. Or if it's even worth it to keep a scrap pack on my computer once I've used it once? If you could all tell me how you do it so I could get some ideas would be lovely. Thanks!
+ Does anyone have any scrapbooking related icons or know where I could look for some? |

[Jan. 6th, 2008|11:28 am] |
I was just in the mood to try something different...that didn't take up my whole kitchen table. lol I'll always be a traditional/paper scrapper, but this was fun to experiment with. I might do it every now and then as the mood takes me. Here is what I came up with:
