1. Comment on this post.
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Think of five fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.
I got B.
1. Billy, a.k.a Dr. Horrible (this should have gone under things I like!). Billy is my favorite villian ever, simply because he doesn't WANT to be a villian, not really. He's so idealistic, sarcastic, intelligent, sensitive, and driven. I ♥ him and his songs and his PHD in HORRIBLENESS.
2. Bela, from Supernatural. I was disappointed when she died--I know a lot of people didn't like her, but I personally thought she was kickass, and she amused me to no end. Sure, she was a heartless bitch, but she was still pretty cool.
3. Batman. Ok, not that I even KNOW much about Batman in general, but especially after the Dark Knight, I'm going to have to concede that he's pretty awesome. I mean....he's Batman. Need I say more?
4. Buckbeak, from Harry Potter. I LOVE THIS HIPPOGRIFF! He has a personality, an attitude, and is pretty kick-ass himself. ♥♥♥
5. Burke, from Grey's Anatomy. There's another character I was sad to see go. D: I always loved him, cool dude that he is.
calmWell, ok, maybe not freezing, but it is damn cold, and the rain makes it feel that much more miserable. I guess it's such a shock because it's usually so beautiful and mild in Boulder. Blargh. I knew it couldn't last.
So, I've been battling a cold all week, but luckily it now seems to be fading. I had a fever for awhile, but then Nicole and Corin forced me to take some Nyquill, and loathe as I am to admit it, I think it helped. :[ On Wednesday, I slept through my first class, but I didn't feel too bad, considering I'd spent the previous night feeling like crap and I probably needed the rest. xD
I'm -so- glad it's Friday. I could really grow to love this day even more than I already do, because I have only two classes. TWO. And I'm actually done for the day at two as well! It's wonderful. Other days the earliest I'm out is 3, and on the worst days, 4:45. Ughhh. I'm considering dropping my Intro to Women's Lit class...the teacher is really sweet, but she's....I don't know how to put it. It's just really boring, I'm already taking two other English classes, and she's one of those rambly-spend-three-days-covering-the-syl
Hm. I was supposed to meet my friend Anu for lunch, but I've been waiting a half an hour and she hasn't shown up. D: She had a cold, too--I'm wondering if the weather made her even sicker. Or maybe she just forgot, lol. Couldn't blame her when it's like this out, actually. My friend Ana is supposed to meet me here at noon anyway, so it's all good.
Oh! Last night, I went to a reading--I have to attend three for Creative Writing--and it was really, really cool. The guy who was reading is apparently now a professor at CU, has a ton of stuff published, and is a really phenomenal writer. I don't know if anyone's heard of him, but his name is Stephen Graham Jones. You should definitely check out some of his stuff.
Speaking of Creative Writing, we had to write a sonnet for homework, lol. It was a lot harder than I expected, since usually the only kind of poetry I particularly enjoy writing is free form, but it was....um, an experience?
Yeah, I know I have kind of a 'that September' theme going on in a lot of poetry I write, but I guess it's just a "phase" or whatever that I'll hopefully write myself out of. I've decided that I like sonnets when OTHER people write them (ex: Shakespeare had some mad skills), but I don't think I'm good at them at all. Rhyming works for some people, I guess. Apparently not for me.
In other news (and wow, this is a really random post), my roommate and a couple of friends are planning a crazy birthday for me next week. I'm not allowed to know anything about what we're doing--the most I'm currently aware of is that I get a card, and we're going out to dinner--and I'm not going to lie when I say I'm a little overwhelmed. I never even imagined anyone would know it was my birthday here, much less plan out a full-on celebration for the entire day. I'm actually kind of excited now! Just not about the part where they want to BLINDFOLD me because apparently I'm not allowed to know which restaurant we're going to. Originally, it was supposed to be Red Robin, since that's where I went whenever I was little, but now the location has changed.
AHH. I don't like blindfolds, and I KNOW they're taking me somewhere cheesy where people will, like, sing to me and make me dance on a table or something. *hides* Haha, well, it'll make for an interesting 18th birthday, I guess. xD
*shivers* I probably should go find a warmer spot. I'm sitting at a table right by the door, and everytime someone bursts inside, so does a wave of freezing air. Maybe Ana will be here soon and I can actually EAT.
coldSome days I'm frustrated and tired of still being in the same place I was when I graduated on May 29, 2006. Those are the days that I want to rip my hair out, grab my things, and just keep walking til I've found someplace where I can feel worthwhile.
And then there are days like today. When I wish I could crawl back into bed, sleep til 2 PM, and pretend I'm eleven years old again. Days where the future is a big, scary thing- where I don't want to do it, where I just want to cry and hold onto something familiar. But days like today, of ALL DAYS, are the days that constantly remind me that as much as I want that, I can't have it, and the things around me that I love are going to be sacrificed in favor of starting my own life, which hopefully will lead to something better.
I wish you were coming more than anything. It's a selfish reason, but if you were just... there, I would feel EXPONENTIALLY better... safer... stronger. When you're with me, no matter where the hell I am, it just feels like home.
Stop this train,
I wanna get off and go home again.

....How are these things so creepily accurate?
amusedMy friend Blake showed part of this to me last night, and it just kind of cut right through me. It says so much about humanity and...well, I could pull my English major B.S. about the meaning all day, but whatever this poem is about is haunting and beautiful and it's something I'll read over and over, this part especially:
'For Thine is Life is For Thine is the This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.'
indescribableNow for the time waster to calm myself down before bed (I should really stop going to sleep at five AM):

How many can you have? 105
If you could buy space for more, would you? Not at the moment, but I'm sure someday soon I'm going to wish I could lol. I <3 LJ icons.
Do your icons make a statement about you? I think they do. Mostly they just confess my fandoms though, lol. But I'm proud of my fandoms, so yay!
What fandom do you have the most icons out of? Jesus Christ, is it that hard to tell? Ouran High School Host Club, lol.
The second most? Death Note, naturally.
What ship do you have the most icons out of? GEE, ANOTHER HARD ONE. Hmm, twincest much? (HikaruxKaoru)
How do you categorize your icons? I don't really categorize them. I type whatever goofy phrase comes to mind that will identify them. For instance, for this one:
Are your icons mostly made by other users? Yeah, I'm too lazy to make my own when there are other bits of brilliance out there. I do have a couple of my own ones left over though.
Animated icons are... Okay? lol.
In general, I think icons... ARE AWESOME. They're the hugest reason I wanted a paid account, lol, I'm sad.

So, I'm sorry I've been such a crappy LJ friend of late. I've kind of disappeared this week, thanks to the craziness of college, but I HAVE been reading everyone, and I'm trying to catch up. :D
Basically, life is pretty good at the moment. I'm enjoying myself way more than I thought I would, and get this--I've made friends! That makes everything a ton easier.
My roomie continues to be amazing. We both feel so lucky, because we have a ton in common and get along pretty flawlessly. Granted, it IS the first week, but we're....friends. That's already far more than I'd dared hope for. I'm also friends with this fantastic girl I met at orientation, Corin, who practically lives in our room half the time, this guy who lives down the hall, Blake (who also pretty much lives in our room), and this girl from the 7th floor named Ana.
On top of that, most of the people on my floor are pretty cool, despite the fact that the majority of them enjoy getting drunk just a liiiiiittle too much. They're not bad people, they just like to party. And sometimes, they party a little louder than Nicole and I would like, haha.
It's been pretty low-key, but I have had some adventures! I just tried to post some pictures, but AGH. STUPID LJ. It deleted my whole story and my pictures and....I just spent about forty five minutes doing this.
*punches something*
ARGH. Ok, well, I will try to post our Longmont Adventure FROM HELL story tomorrow, because I do have to finish studying (grumbles), but I'll leave you with these pictures:
Nicole, me, and Corin.
And this is why I love Colorado, y'all.
And now, to go read about Essential Environment! YAY!!!
aggravated( Too nerdy to be normal, not nerdy enough to be a nerd. Le-sigh. )

workingAnyway, I just got done watching To Killing a Mockingbird. Yes, Fully...the black and white version. And I was able to watch it by virtue of doing many other things at the same time. See, dear lj flist, I have a severe aversion to black and white films. They make me violently angry. I have only been able to actually watch one black and white film all the way through; and that was Some Like it Hot. So, back to my thoughts on this movie...didn't even come close to doing the book justice. I just finished reading the book like 3 days ago. But was good nonetheless. But my main thoughts were these: Robert Duvall was unrecognizable as himself, and kinda hot. And Gregory Peck was majorly HOT...in a totally Magnum PI sorta way. Those glasses really did it for me. :) Atticus Finch is my favorite father of all time from the books. He did a good job in the movie as well, but really. If you haven't read the book, I suggest you do so just for the glimpse of what a kick-ass good father is like.
I really think they robbed the book by not having Dill's visceral reaction to the trial and the treatment of Tom Robinson in there. The explanation for how adults can justify racism in the face of obvious truth, and that children cannot comprehend it because it's actually not logical was the best part of the book in my opinion, and they totally left it out of the movie...of course, the movie was made in 1962, so probably Hollywood realized that it wouldn't fly in a still majorly racist country.
So, there's my two cents. For whatever it's worth. :)
