I'm hoping for another young Christopher book, but that seems unlikely.

WOW! I had thought the release of Conrad's Fate was amazing enough, and quite assumed another Chrstomanci book would be far too much to hope for. Diana is literally making my wildest dreams come true, here!

I think I remember a post from someone who saw Diana over the summer, saying that it involved Cat, so it's set around then. :) No idea what it specifically involves though.

September 2006?! That's nearly a year away! =\ How will we ever last until then? Ah well, I guess we should be thankful that we're getting it at all... I'll probably just wait until my local bookstores have it before I purchase. Or, when I see everyone else here posting reviews and stuff, I won't be able to resist and order it from Amazon! Then again, shipping to NZ will probably take an age...

BTW, I remember DWJ saying that she had promised her sister more Chrestomanci books, so I'm not too surprised by this one's subject matter. =) But more DWJ in any of her 'verses would be a treat, anyway! A Morgan book (from Howl-verse) would be fantastic, though that's much less likely than Chrestomanci ones...

I know, I was expecting it sometime in May. Oh well. Good luck getting it in NZ! That's gotta be tough.

A Morgan book would be fantastic! (Though I won't complain with Chrestomanci)

I started hyperventalating before I realised that it was September 2006, and then I realized it's November and came down to earth with a bang... Thanks for letting us know though.

Gah. I got to read The Merlin Conspiracy way early b/c my gf got it to review and I can never quite realize that these days I have to wait like an ordinary mortal...

I feel very weird about the prospect of another Cat book, because a while ago I decided that Cat was essentially closed-canon, and accordingly gave myself permission to write sequels to Charmed Life and 'Stealer of Souls' in my head - that is, I have quite a formulated view of what I think happens in the gaps around/before/after the Cat story as we have it. So it'll be interesting to see what happens when that comes up against Diana Wynne Jones's take on it, which will inevitably shift the parameters for speculation in ways I hadn't anticipated. It took me a couple of reads to get the hang of Conrad's Fate, and that wasn't set in a time period that I thought I had any theories about...

So, although I am OF COURSE unmitigatedly glad about a new Chrestomanci book, it's a bit complicated.

Another Chrestomanci book? My goodness! Diana is kicking butt. I wonder if her sister could be convinced to request other books....*laughs*

Oh, thanks for telling us!

I wonder if having the anticipation of another Chrestomanci book for an entire year is better than what happened with Conrad's Fate for me - which consisted of walking into the local bookshop, stopping, squeeing, and starting to read it on the spot. I then had to explain the 17-years-between-novels situation to my step-mother, to justify my squee.
