Hello, everyone. I have just joined this community although I have been a faithful follower for some time. This is my first contribution to the community, only one song since I am very bad at graphics so even if I made a whole soundtrack I wouldn't be able to do a cover for it. Anyway, on with the song. The song is Us against the world by Westlife. May be some of you have heard of it.

Well, the title says it all already. This is the typical song for the Dramione ship. When they are together, everyone tries to break them apart, but they will always fight back for their love. They may be on different sides at the beginning but in the end they will always find their ways back to each other and no one will have the power to stop them.

If you think my reason is lame (laugh nervously), then just listen to the song and let it speaks for itself. I'm sure you'll understand what I was talking about. :D Happy listening!

The italicized part is the part where I think fits really well with the nature of the Dramione ship. (Actually the whole song does lol)

Whys & Hows

1. Alice Cooper, Poison

This is the song that prompted me to begin working on a soundtrack. Okay, it wasn't this version, I was actually listening to the Tarja Turunen cover of it (track 14), and it struck me as being very Dramione-ish. Of course, it works better as being from Draco's perspective so I hunted out the Alice Cooper version (wasn't too hard, I had it in my music collection) and decided to put it front and center with the Tarja version (which was too beautiful not to include) as a bonus track.

2. Candie Payne, A Different You
I'm too stunned to argue back / I feel like I've been slapped / I never expected that to come from you / So I'll turn the other cheek / And hang around another week
Sweep it underneath the carpet / Just for now / I've known a different you for so long / I think that maybe I heard so wrong / I'm so confused I really don't know what to do

Not long after my last foray into soundtrack making I learned of a few lesser-known singer/songwriters and this is one of them. There are so many songs on Candie's album that make me think of our favorite couple ("I Wish I Could Have Loved You More," "Why Should I Settle For You," etc.) but I wanted to try and narrow it down to just one. I eventually decided on this one because I think it fits just a bit better than the others. Sure, it's only by, like, a fraction of a point, but it counts when you're trying to narrow it down. But with this one...I believe that Draco shows different sides of himself to different people, that he only lets people see what he wants them to see. And this song brings that to mind.

3. Queen, Who Wants To Live Forever
There's no chance for us / It's all decided for us / This world has only one sweet moment / Set aside for us / Who wants to live forever?

I love Queen and this song especially. Whenever I hear it, I think of star-crossed lovers ripped apart by fate. And, if you take our feelings for our favorite couple and the HP cannon...this song totally fits. I had trouble choosing between the Queen version of this song and the Sarah Brightman version. I couldn't choose, so I included Sarah's beautiful version as the other bonus track on this "album."

4. Tarja Turunen, Boy and the Ghost
All he needed was a gentle heart / To lead him through the dark

I can never decide what kind of childhood Draco truly had, as there seems to be contradicting references in cannon. Lucius Malfoy often appears to be a cruel, cold father and Narcissa just cold. But in DH, they worry for their son and seem to be caring. It all comes down to a matter of preference and what will work best for all our individual cares. Anyway, the chorus of this song fits the "not as loving" Malfoy childhood. Plus, the line "All he needed was a gentle heart" line just SCREAMS Draco.

5. Maroon 5, If I Never See Your Face
Now you've gone somewhere else / Far away / I don't know if I will find you / But you feel my breath / On your neck / Can't believe I'm right behind you / ‘Cause you keep me coming back for more / And I feel a little better than I did before / And if I never see your face again / I don't mind / 'Cause we got much further than I thought we ever might

I was trying not to duplicate artists on the soundtrack, but I just couldn't choose between two of the songs on Maroon 5's new album. They both bring Draco and Hermione to mind so I included them both. This song brings to mind a relationship that began without warning and just won't stop, no matter how badly they want it to (if they truly want that, even).

6. Kate Voegele, No Good
It's illogical and it's outrageous / The way I let you keep me hangin' on / Your character is that contagious / I know I should have thought before I had done / I've gone and let my impulse be my guide / And on that note I'll be defenseless for some time / I'm moving in reverse / Under your mighty curse / I hate myself for loving you / I turn my head away / But my heart will remain / Till the day I learn you're no good for me

I think the lyrics are very self-explanatory. I see it as being from Hermione's perspective as she ponders her relationship with Draco. I can see it fitting perfectly, especially if it's the "Complete Arsehole Draco" model.

7. The Doors, Touch Me
Now touch me, baby / Can't you see that I am not afraid? / What was that promise that you made? / Why won't you tell me what she said? / What was that promise that you made? / I'm gonna love you / Till the heavens stop the rain / I'm gonna love you / Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I

I can just see this conversation taking place with these two, almost as a precursor to an argument. I can actually see the song from the point of view from either of them. I just couldn't resist adding it in though I'm probably the only one who gets the vague connection.

8. A Fine Frenzy, Near To You
He and I had something beautiful / But so dysfunctional, it couldn't last / I loved him so but I let him go / 'Cause I knew he'd never love me back / Such pain as this / Shouldn't have to be experienced / I'm still reeling from the loss / Still a little bit delirious

Okay, yes, it's technically a song about a break up and developing feelings for a new person, but the lyrics, the first verse specifically, make me think of Draco and Hermione. I've never pictured their relationship would be anything other than rocky. With the past that they have? You know it's going to be complex.

9. Soft Cell, Tainted Love
Sometimes I feel I've got to / Run away I've got to / Get away / From the pain that you drive into the heart of me / The love we share / Seems to go nowhere

One of my favorite 80s songs ever (and believe me, I love 80s music...I regret that I'm too young to truly remember the decade, I was born in '83 and don't really have many memories of that time period of my life) and I can see it fitting Draco and Hermione perfectly. It just screams of the darker, obsessive tones their relationship could have.

10. Terra Naomi, Say It's Possible
And though they say it's possible to me / I don't see how it's probable / I see the course we're on / Spinning farther from what I know / I'll hold on / Tell me that you won't let go

A relationship you know probably won't work out, but you hope with all your heart that it will. Let's face it, our favorite couple definitely has an uphill battle in their relationship.

11. Maroon 5, Kiwi
But it’s so strange, it’s something new / Amazing feelings that I have for you / I close my eyes when I’m alone / Wonder what it’d be like to make you moan / I wanna give you something better / Than anything you’ve ever had / A stronger and a faster lover / The world will disappear so fast

Here's the second Maroon 5 song as I said would be coming. It's like a pre-relationship song where they first notice each other as something other than the prat and the know-it-all and fantasies bloom. Okay, this is from the perspective of Draco more than Hermione and definitely on the sexual side of things, but I really think it fits.

12. Nightwish, Wish I Had an Angel
Prepare to hate me fall when I may / This night will hurt you like never before / Old loves they die hard / Old lies they die harder / I wish I had an angel / For one moment of love / I wish I had your angel / Your Virgin Mary undone / I'm in love with my lust / Burning angelwings to dust / I wish I had your angel tonight

In complete honesty, this is another song where I'm not entirely certain why it makes me think of Draco and Hermione. I suppose it's because I see it as a dark, twisted sort of love song and I'm attracted to versions of Draco and Hermione that are dark and twisted (not that I don't love any and all other versions) or in some way immensely complicated. I can see this song fitting in with the darker, twisted turns their relationship could take.

Yes. I admit. DH did have me doubting my OTP, but I'm over it now. Draco is not a wimpy little thing in my mind- I still see him 6 feet tall, obnoxious and sexy as hell. With a soft spot for Hermione, of course.

Another D/Hr Soundtrack

Yet another D/Hr fanmix/soundtrack from callistolexx...I certainly hope no one is surprised any longer. I seem to be almost like the freakin' Energizer Bunny of D/Hr Fanmixes! Of course, I've been working on this one for about a month now...so it does seem they're coming fewer and further between.

This soundtrack (for some reason with this one, fanmix sounds wrong) is different from my other ones. They're still songs that remind me of our favorite couple, that hasn't changed. What has, is that they're all by the same artist.

You see, a friend of mine recently introduced me to the music of a lovely, talented woman named Emilie Autumn and I quickly fell in love with her music and poetry. I've been listening to her pretty much non-stop since (occasionally taking an hour here and there for other artists, but for the most part it's been EA) and I've noticed that quite a few of her songs make me think D/Hr...yes, that happens with a lot of the songs I listen to (after all, what is this...the fourth or fifth time I'm doing this?). As most have observed--and I've said straight out, I believe--this ship seems to be more on the darker, angsty side of the shipping spectrum. And Emilie's songs aren't all sweetness and light.

So, as I said, I'm listening to all the music of hers I can get my greedy little hands on and the more I listen, the more Draco and Hermione come to mind...both the good and the bad (and both canon and possible AU scenarios). True, some of this could come from my loving to read fanfiction and my borderline obsessive personality, but it can't all come from that. So I have decided to compile the most Dramione-reminiscent songs (to which you can agree or disagree as you will) and share them with all my fellow shippers...and to further introduce Emilie Autumn to the world since I've found there's not enough people who've heard of her (at least not anywhere near where I'm from and those I converse with on a regular basis). There are more songs of hers than just these that remind me of D/Hr (and their angsty side), but I've decided to narrow it down to just these ones. Feel free to explore more of her music and see if you can spot more.

Also, if anyone is inspired to write a D/Hr fanfic from these songs (especially "Misery Loves Company"), please let me know because I will love you and worship you forever.

Emilie has described her musical genre as "victoriandustrial" (and also "violindustrial"), which is a combination of violin/Victorian style music and industrial. Enchant was EA's first full-length album with vocals (before that she'd released a classical album and a couple EPs, and is of a different style than the more recent Opheliac and even some of her other EPs and work on compilations. Also, a couple of the songs may have a couple swear words, but I don't think enough to constitute a Parental Advisory Warning. But I do want to mention it here just in case.

I absolutely love this song. When I first started collecting together this list, this song wasn't anywhere near it, but the more I listened, the more I knew I had to put it on here. The more I paid attention to the lyrics, the more I pictured D/Hr and so it was set as the opener to this soundtrack.

02. Chambermaid (Off Enchant CD)
"Chambermaid" is one of the first EA songs I ever heard. With the chorus of the song, I can easily picture Hermione thinking this. Especially since I can also easily picture she and Draco having a sort of on again/off again relationship complete with all the 'games' that are played in some relationships...and, of course, Draco acting the lord.

03. Swallow (Off Opheliac Deluxe Edition CD)
Draco sometimes strikes me as the kind of guy who really doesn't mind tormenting people...as we've seen in the books and him constantly looking down on 'Mudblood Granger' (though for some reason I think he calls her that mostly to irritate Ron, but that belief really doesn't have anything to do with the song or anything else, I just needed to state it to people who might actually have an idea what I'm talking about and not look at me as though I just sprouted a second head). I just think that the line in the song fits him and what we know of him.

04. Save You (Off Enchant CD)
This is another one that makes me think of Draco and how he might feel were he and Hermione ever to get together. Though I can also see it as being from Hermione's perspective as the majority of his friends and family probably wouldn't be happy if he were to spend the rest of his life with a Muggleborn...

As I've stated in posts in the past (and I believe in this one as well) that I picture D/Hr as one of the angstier 'ships out there and this song makes me think of that. Especially the lines I've included here.

06. How Strange (Off Enchant CD)
This is the "make up your mind because I'm not going to wait forever" song. Plus, I can easily see Draco also being the guy who asks for little changes in his relationships, but won't even bother to try to change and adapt himself. Hey, canon has taught us that Malfoy men are arrogant men.

I can picture the scene described by the below lyrics for "Ever" in my mind, clear as day. I can see and feel the emotions of it...I don't think I can explain it and I just may be crazy.

After collecting together three songs that reminded me of D/Hr, I began to make this soundtrack. This was one of those original three songs ("Chambermaid" and "Swallow" being the other two) that inspired this endeavor. This one is the "enough is enough" Hermione and, if you look at it and listen to it...you can easily see how I could picture this being about Draco.

The Jane Brooks Project is an EA project she's been working on for years and recording in her spare time. It's songs she's written inspired by the musical styles of the '40s. This is another one I can see being Hermione's perspective. This is also another one where I may be nuts to think so, but I still see it.

The second fanmix I have finished (I am notorious for leaving loose threads hanging, so to speak) and, the first one I truly enjoyed making. I hope it's reflected on the song choices and the cover art. This mix started out with about thirty songs, and I whittled that down to 16.

Compiler's Notes:
I don't usually do this, but I feel the need to do this for a few of the different songs. I usually allow the lyrics to speak for themselves, but I couldn't resist making a couple little notes on why I chose the songs and things like that.

Track 2, "Time Of The Season": For some reason I can easily picture Draco saying "What's your name? Who's your daddy? Is he rich like me?" I don't know why I can picture that so clearly, but I can, and so I couldn't resist plugging it in there.

Track 5, "I Don't Need A Hero": The song, once you listen to it through, is written from the female perspective, but the first verse just screams Draco's P.O.V.

Track 6, "Funeral Of A Good Girl": This one was originally not on the mix. I just recently began re-reading Bluemidget's Pansy's Volcano and this song popped up on my playlist...and I had to add it. I could not resist the temptation. Seriously, listen to the song and read the story. The reason why I think it's perfect exists in the first half of the story.

Track 17, "You Really Got a Hold On Me": This is one of my favorite songs and I'm surprised I didn't think of using it on one of the previous mixes I did. I mean, "I don't like you, but I love you" and "I don't want you, but I need you" just scream D/Hr!

Track 18, "I (Who Have Nothing)": There are two different notes about this one. First is that it makes me think of a Hermione/Draco/Pansy (or someone else) triangle or, if you flip a few of the pronouns a Draco/Hermione/Ron (or someone else) triangle. Second, I could have used Shirley Bassey's amazing vocals on this song, but something about this performance by American Idol 6 contestant Jordin Sparks just pulls on my heartstrings. After getting the studio version of her singing the song, I added it to the list.

Track 20, "I Hate Myself For Loving You": By this point, I've done three fanmixes for D/Hr (four if you count the first one as being two, since it was a two-disc) and after the last one I said I was taking a break for a while. I honestly thought it'd be longer before I compiled another one, but I was listening to a Joan Jett CD the other day and this song came up...and I knew I had to make another fanmix. This song is another that just screams D/Hr. I mean, just look at the title! Doesn't it just make so much sense?

I could also add some notes for Disc 2, Track 4 and the similarities I feel exist between Hermione and Wicked's Elphaba (both musical and Gregory Maguire's book), but I will spare you. I will just leave you with a song from the musical's soundtrack.
