( Houses Falling )One more site of desolation caused by the Sorceress. One more litany of horror that showed how ruthless she'd been when possessed by another. She knew some thought the reminder was a good thing. The kinder among them thought it would help distance her from it all. Those who didn't quite believe her to be another victim thought she should know just what she'd caused.
She dressed sedately, spoke to every man, woman and child who would allow her, and gave what insights she could to the engineers who would do the work of rebuilding. She made a spectacle of herself so the OZ could heal. Her parents thanked her, her little sister commiserated with her, Ambrose rubbed her nose in it with blind abandon and she suffered it all with more grace than she thought she actually had.
The best response to it all came from an unlikely source. One day he stepped up behind her and spoke in a low, amused tone. "I know it's a dog and pony show, Highness, but just think, she could have just dropped a house on you or something."
Laughing brightly, she put her arm through his and made him accompany her through the next round of introductions. He suffered it with much more grace than she expected.
