Hello everyone!
I'm at work so I don't have time to post the newbie survey intro post, but I will later. I've been desperately searching for some help --
I'm NOT your typical girly girl and I'm a very frugal person so I just have never spent a lot of money on myself other than very basic makeup and hair products. Lately, though, I feel like now that I am in my early 20's the kooky teenager look just doesn't do it for me any more and am trying to look more put together. The problem is that I have no idea what I am doing. I just don't know what to look for when it comes to beauty products. When I finally talked myself into buying a package at the tanning salon (a monthly fee that already feels like too much!) I was shocked when my complimentary bottle of lotion ran out and I realized how expensive all these lotions are!
I figured I could just buy some tanning oil at CVS and quickly learned what a mistake that was. :-/
I just don't know what I'm looking at. I want to order something online, I know I want something that firms, and I know I want the BEST VALUE for the price. I don't mind paying a little more... I just want to be sure about what I am buying. I am naturally fair skinned, have tanned easily so far with the lotion they gave me at first (which was Ambrosia, step 2: medium) and have not burnt in the bed. I know that I could just tan outside, but I truly hate tan lines.
I've been told that the Ambrosia line has been discontinued and I've found some on eBay but not the particular level I was using. Can anyone suggest a lotion to me? Are there any over the counter products that any of you would feel comfortable using, or are you all firm believers in the necessity of salon quality products? What is the best lotion I can find for the price?
Thank you so much!! You have no idea how much I appreciate this. :)
EDIT: I should add that I do not want anything with a tingle or with a bronzer/any dyes. Just something to keep my skin soft, lifted and absorbing the tan. Thanks!

For all of you who tan indoors, what is your favorite lotion to use?
Also, do you have a favorite tan-extending lotion?
I really like Matahari lotions.

it smells really delicious, and it has a gold-tone to it when you apply it. I feel like it has a lot of firming benefits too.
I'm running low though, so I was wondering of some good lotions I should try?

Hey guys,
I'm new to this community (and tanning), but I have a question.
I have been tanning for ~2 weeks, and my tan is coming along quite nicely. I have, however, noticed that the line where my bra strap lies on my right shoulder is slightly darker than the rest of my skin. I tan without my shirt or bra on, and can't figure out why this could be/how to stop it.

Choosing a new lotion.
Australian Gold "Pure Gold" or "Beyond Famous".
They're both the same, only that Beyond Famous has Lipocare Blend: Slimming and contouring ingredients to beautify the “body behind the tan.”
Pure Gold has BodyBlush Blend: For an immediate, vibrant, photo-reactive blushed glow.
Haha, I'm certainly not looking for a lotion that gets rid of excess lbs, not that there's any, but maybe the countouring does work better on a slim body. I have no idea what's a blushed glow, that's photo-reactive. Eek!
*Will edit to let you know my choice and the results.*

| 10 reasons why tanning is good for you! |
| Public |
|
Of course we have to be aware of the possible risks and damages from sun (especially for tanners, who overexposure themselves), but we can't be let to believe that sun doesn't do anything good. :) Sunlight is the base for life!
Most of us start smiling when the sun comes out, so it’s no surprise that a little sunshine everyday can boost your mood and also help prevent and/or help serious ailments. For years we have been told to cover up in the sun to cut the risk of getting skin cancer. But know it has come to light that sun is actually good for the body. Recent studies have shown that a sensible amount of UV light reduces your risk of several cancers and health conditions. It’s all thanks to Vitamin D, which is made through our bodies through the action of UVB rays on our skin. Professor Michael Holick of Boston University School of Medicine is the author of “The UV Advantage” book. “We get about 90 to 95% of our vitamin D from the sun,” says Holick. He advises people should get 5 to 15 minutes of sun exposure three times a week to boost vitamin D levels.
Here are the top 10 ways in which the sun can IMPROVE your health: NEVER overdo the sun. Excessive burning & overexposure can increase your risk of skin cancer. It’s all about moderation. Vitamin D is produced by UV light, whether natural or produced by tanning lamps.

And always get to know your staff. • Pictures of yourself (optional): Maybe later. :P I'm at work!

What do you think of tan tattoos? Do you think they're pretty or ugly? I think I'd like to try them (if the majority doesn't say they hate them XD), but I'm not so sure if it'll show up enough... Has anyone tried them?

I have been indoor tanning since about May, now. I used to lay outside, and my legs don't like to tan because I used to wear pants in the summer... I also have a mole on my back which I always cover with one of the provided stickers every time I tan. I think that's a good idea even though there is a ring of pale skin around it.
I read an entry a few down where she feels tan until she compares herself to someone else who is tan. I feel the same way My arms and legs never seem to get darker, but the area around my hip bones are almost black! (seriously dark) my stomach and back tan really well, but my chest doesn't either.
I read a few entries down also someone liked Unforgiven. I am also going to try Bonfire (from this site http://store.tanninglotionoutlet.com/index.html ) It has a high tingle. My friend gave me an Emerald Bay tingle lotion (forget the name) and chocco latta love. That one didn't work too well. I feel like the tingle works until it goes away.
Bascially, I want to be this dark: Kelly Monaco from General Hospital if anyone watches it. I know she is naturally darker, but there has to be a way to tan evenly.
Anyway, are there any tips or tricks to darker and what are the darkest, fastest working lotions you guys recommend?

| keeping my skin healthy and young. |

alright. so i'm obsessed with keeping my skin young and healthy looking. i wear spf 45 on my face and neck and hands every single day, even if i'm staying in doors. i am paranoid as HELL of getting wrinkles. i moisturize my whole body with a rich moisturizer loaded with antioxidants and vitamins every single time i get out of the bath or shower and i alwaysalwaysalways put a rich lotion on my face before i go to bed at night. i stay out of the sun and i've never gone tanning.
i'm p-a-l-e.
and i've always liked it that way. until recently. my friends, family, and random people i don't know have been poking fun at how freakishly pale i am. i see reflections of myself and i think i look deathly. it's made me terribly insecure. i want to be darker, i want to be "bronze". i think i'd feel a lot more confident and feel a lot better this summer running around the pool with my uber tan buddies. besides, i already got the beachy blonde hair to go with it!
anyway, i know tanning is the worst thing you could do for your skin, but i'm certain i want to do it now. i just want to know how to keep it as healthy as possible while i am. i know you're not supposed to put greasy spf all over your body because it ruins tanning beds, but could i put an spf 5-15 face lotion around my eyes, the corner of my lips, and on the tops of my hands? those are the places most prone to wrinkles and age spots so i want to keep them protected - but would it make my tan blotchy?
besides wearing a little spf, i'm also definitely going to get a tanning lotion with anti-aging and skin firming properties. would you suggest designer skin spellbound or designer skin believe?
also, immediately after tanning i would apply hempz age defying moisturizer. and after showers and before bed i would still moisturize with a heavy anti-aging lotion.
is there anything else i could be doing to lessen the damage of tanning on my skin?
thanks! ♥
