'Anamika' means something along the lines of independent woman. It's hard to explain, but basically in Hindu culture your name is supposed to represent predetermined qualities already within your being. With a name like Anamika in affect you don't have a name essentially because you're seen as someone who determines their own future. I hope that makes sense!

Anyway there were a number of hit songs from the film; I picked this out for no particular reason. The track translates into English as 'Tonight's The Night'.

Both films are based on the 1905 Urdu novel 'Umrao Jaan Ada', written by Mirza Mohammed Haadi Ruswa, and though the latter is not a remake of the former comparisons will almost certainly be made [esp. in regards to the scores, as the 1981 version, rightly so, has some of the most memorable numbers in filmi history].

The album is definitely a grower with 'Salaam' probably being the most memorable track on there - I imagine it'll become even more so with the accompanying mujra performance.

The lyrics are solid throughout, but what else would you expect from Javed Akhtar, and the compositions aren't bad either. Anu Malik does capture the mood and ambiance of the time, but did he really need to release Animal Malik on us? My word, she should to be put down!

Overall, the music isn't bad, but it still doesn't measure up to Khayyam's original. Saying that I am still very much looking forward to the film.

'Poetica' finally released in Europe last year and in the States last month [five years after the success of their first single 'Rapture' and a year after Nadia Ali left the duo to concentrate on her solo career].

The album itself is a hit and miss affair. There are some real stompers on there mixed in with some altogether average tracks. It's a shame no one thought to include some of the remixes on here either.
