If you were a member of the Denvention3 Con Committee and you attended any of the five Con Committee/Division Heads meetings that were held BEFORE the convention (four in Denver, one in Las Vegas) then there should be an email in your box about expense reimbursement. Please check your spam filters and/or contact Mem Morman or Kent Bloom if you have NOT received this email but think that you should have.

I thought I sent this before, but I haven't gotten any responses, so I'm re-sending.

Photos of lost and found items from Denvention 3 may be viewed at:

Please drop me a comment if you recognize anything and we will arrange to have it returned to you.

Please pass this along to any pertinent lists.

On account of the issue having come back up to the surface recently thanks to the latest issue of Locus and questions elsewhere, I spent about six hours last night extracting out the footage of the debate at WSFS Business Meeting at Denvention 3 over the Best Semiprozine Hugo Award. (The resulting amendment passed and is on the agenda for possible ratification at Anticipation.) Because the discussion was long, I had to split it into two parts.

The first half is the technical debate that concerned itself mainly with trying to define the precise effect of the proposal and how to accomplish it, and probably is mainly of interest to people interested in meeting mechanics.

The second half is the substantive debate on the merits of the proposal. Both segments are 13-14 minutes long, but if you're interested in the meat of the matter, you can pick up with the second half and you will not have missed much.

The reason I haven't done the entire Business Meeting is because that's around six or seven hours or so of raw footage, and it took me six hours to produce less than 30 of usable output here, so you can see how long it would take me to cut up the entire meeting.

Got away with it for another year!  Here's hoping that next year contains as much good news as this one did.

I realize a full balance sheet may not be available but I'm curious as to whether the con made money or gave us more than our money's worth.

The reprint is done, and most of those shirts and the other T-shirt designs have been shipped Priority Mail. Shirts should be arriving in a few days. If you ordered a T-shirt and a stitch, see below.

We are working on the embroideries, and I hope to be able to start shipping Monday (9/22).

If you have any questions, please contact us at infoATfopaws.com, and use Denvention as the first word in the subject line.

When I went to vote at the con I discovered a "situation" with one of my credit cards and had to use another one. The problem was cleared up the next day, but previously I had placed and order for a Denvention 3 T-shirt and I don't remember which credit card I used for that. Does anyone know how to contact the folks who made the official shirts so I can sort out any trouble I may have caused with my order?

Thanks.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the Great Bumper Sticker hunt. I now have four of them, which will serve to put on the three Fan Gallery shipping cases with a spare in case one of them gets scuffed off a year or two from now.

Thank you very much!

I don't think I got anything anyone else didn't get, except maybe the wonderful band that was playing on 16th Street. Anyway, I finally found the &^%$# cable to connect the camera to the PC, so here they are!

For those interested, I posted my panel notes over in my journal as public entries.

Enjoy, and if you've got panel reports of your own, share!

My workmate just forwarded me this news:

Michael Chabon
Wednesday, August 27th, at 11:30 am
Tattered Cover LoDo

The Big '08 Democratic Convention has brought to town some authors we hadn't expected to see and we're very excited to announce two impromptu book signings as a result! One with the popular novelist Michael Chabon and the other with the superb non-fiction writer and political insider Andrei Cherney. Come on down to our LoDo store, join in the excitement, and meet these extraordinary authors!

and, the next day:
Andrei Cherny
Thursday, August 28th at 11 am
Tattered Cover LoDo

Andrei Cherny's book, The Candy Bombers: The Untold Story of the Berlin Airlift and America's Finest Hour tells the story of how a small group of Americans, with few resources and against all expectations, fed half of one of the largest cities in the world by air for more than a year, thereby avoiding World War III, winning the hearts of our defeated enemies, and inspiring people around the world to believe in America's fundamental goodness.

For both the Masquerade and the Hugo Awards there seemed to be at least three professional video cameras setup (two in the aisles and one in the back.) Is there going to be a "video" DVD made available?  Yes, I am aware of and have on order Greg Bradt's "photo" DVD. I am asking about a "Video" DVD.

There was a piece of art in the show that showed Jack the Ripper; his lower body was drawn as a blade. Does anyone know the artist?

Can anyone put me in touch with the people in the photo, especially the warrior Princess? I would like to enter it in the art show for SiliCon 2008, but need permission from  the folks in the picture. This was taken at Denvention3 on Saturday, August 9 at about 3:30 pm.

While I'm posting to the Great LJ Overmind, here are two more photos from other cons I would love to have the okay from the subjects to enter in the show behind the cut )

Comment here or email me howeird at howeird dot com

Thanks!

Got back to the UK yesterday after having a wonderful time at the Worldcon and afterwards in Colorado. It is a very beautiful state and we met lots of wonderful people. We didn't end up driving as far as Mesa Verde as I had wanted as it was only me driving so we went to Manitou Springs and the surrounding area instead. The southern part of Colorado will have to wait for another visit.

I met loads of people at the Con and enjoyed myself immensely, as did my daughter who was on lift duty a few times with her friend, and my son who managed to stay up till 6 am most nights playing werewolf. We ended up being totally exhausted most of the time but .. thats what a con does to you :) and I met way too many people to mention by name, not even sure if any of them are on livejournal, but thank you all for a really great con that was extremely well organised. The artshow organisers and workers in particular were all very helpful and did a great jobs. Thanks to you especially.

See you all in Montreal!

Ran out of room on my old account, and finally took the plunge to get a new one with much more room. Denvention photos are now at:

The old site will most likely be good until the end of the month.

I saw several Flickr types posting links to photo sets about Denvention, and I thought, "Wouldn't it be easier if someone created a group that people could send photos to?"

So I looked, and sure enough, somebody's made a group.

So join up and centralize the photos of WorldCon! (I will be sending my paltry few photos directly.)
