A Look At The F25 So Far....

I'm still keeping track of what is so far the Funny 25 of the year, though I can only assume that Dr. Demento will use a similar point system. I won't count down the halfyear for another 2 months, but here is a glimpse of the chart as it stands so far, so you can see the effect that the new format is having on it.

1 Hold On, I've Got To Take This - Power Salad
2 Re: Your Brains - Jonathan Coulton
3 White & Nerdy - "Weird Al" Yankovic
4 The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny - Lemon Demon
5 Viagra in the Waters - Camille West
6 Dungeons & Dragons - Dead Alewives
7 Fish Heads - Barnes & Barnes
8 Jack Bauer - Luke Ski feat. Carrie Dahlby
9 Living on a Roll and a Prayer - Hot Waffles
10 Shakesperean Pie - Robert Lund & Spaff.com
11 99 Words For Boobs - Robert Lund & Spaff.com
12 Cows With Guns - Dana Lyons
13 Here Comes Another Bubble - The Richter Scales
14 It's Business Time - Flight of the Conchords
15 Wet Dream - Kip Addotta
16 Re: Your Song About My Client Delilah - Robert Lund & Spaff.com
17 The Chainsaw Juggler - Luke Ski & Friends
18 The Smoke-Off - Shel Silverstein
19 You're Just A Child - Sean Cullen
20 Blood Guts and Boobs - Sudden Death
21 The Liar Sleeps Tonight - Mr. Whitekeys & the Fabulous Spamtones
22 Fast Food - Stevens & Grdnic
23 The Day The Data Died - Loose Bruce Kerr
24 PMS Airlines - Royal Canadian Air Farce
25 The Scotsman - Bryan Bowers

So as you can see, a lot more older songs near the top of the chart, as it's now easier for songs to chart (all it takes is one #1 performance to get up near the top right now)

Comments? views?

So, how about this...?

So, the album, so far, is looking to be about 6 or 7 parodies....and, as of this writing...only about 4 or 5 originals.

I don't want the whole album to be parodies...i mean, yes, that's great, but I want some diversity.

So I'm asking for your help.

The few originals i have are pretty strong, i feel. But, i'd like some suggestions. Well, sort of.

I'd like you friends out there to suggest either a SONG NAME or a SONG TOPIC for me to write. It could be anything...a song about waffles, a song called "Over There With Electric Ron"...I'm open to ideas. But these ideas must be ONLY a SONG TITLE or SONG TOPIC...no lyrics, no phrases, no choruses, just one of the two choices.

The best one will get written for the album, and the person who suggested it will get special mention on the album...and a free copy of the disc when it's released.

Sound good? Awesome. I look forward to making funny stuff with you.

-Insane Ian

#dementia channel rules

hey all,
I have just been informed by several ppl that they are bothered by
some of the content on the channel lately. Specifically talk about boobs.
They aren't saying they want such talk eliminated, just toned down. I my
self have not noticed this increase, but also, i haven't been around alot
with my work schedule. the channel rules state that we are to try to stay
pg 13. i know i have been lax on this my self as we no longer have 13 year
olds in the channel on a regular basis and no one has complained. but i
think we all need a refresher on the rules. also, i think some of the newer
folk haven't seen the rules page....

http://www.dementiaradio.org/irc/rules.html

there's some other interesting stuff on http://www.dementiaradio.org/irc/
too.

Also, i have gotten several complaints about the level of whineness on the
channel. as far as i'm conceren, the irc has always been whiney and i've
been on it regurally for 10 years. also, as the level of unemployment
increases, so does the level of whineness. i know i have used that channel
as a support during hard times and prolly whined alot there. but if you are
going through such hard times, perhaps don't let your whineness completely
dominate the channel the entire night?

let me know if there's anything else you want addressed or disagree with.
thanks.

Penguicon Help!

Hey, folks. It's your friendly neighborhood video gaming DJ, Break Man Z, here yet again with a plea of help. If you read my LJ for March 6 (located here by the way), then you know that I've expressed a desire to get to Penguicon in Troy, MI this year. Well, the desire is growing and I've figured out two of the three major resources of con attendance: Transportation to/from the con, registration, and crash space. I got the transportation and registration parts figured....so now I just need to figure out the crash space part of the Con Triangle. One person offered me space at the hotel across the street, but it's about $118.65 for my share. I'll keep that as an option, but I'd like to hear about any other choices. If people have space for me to shove my stuff in as well as a sleeping spot (I can bring an air mattress if required), I'd be interested in getting your input. PLEASE respond ASAP so I'll know about getting this all done as soon as I can... I appreciate your time and return you to your regularly scheduled internet.

[This message brought to you by the Society For Getting Break Man Z to Penguicon.]

Two hour show tonight

Hey everyone! Since no one has said they wanted to do hour 3 of Blindwulf's Rubber Room Association tonight, I am planning on doing a full 2 hour show. The topic tonight is my birthday (which is in 2 days). If there is someone interesting in doing hour 3 (or hour 2, I have no problems moving my show to the third hour), please let me know by 4:30PM eastern as that is when I go offline to head home from work and get ready for my show.

I figure if there is no one wanting to do hour 3 on any given week, I will do a 2 hour show instead of one. That way we don't have to scramble for who will cover that hour if there is no one else interested in it that week.

alcon 10 year adversary gathering?

hey all,
most of you weren't even in the group back then, but 10 years ago on
june 13th, the 1st alcon was held in the evanston il holiday inn(north of
chicago). it was the 1st time that all a lot of us who chatted on #weird-al
meet for the 1st time in person. it's the 1st time i meet lukeski, steph aka
evita, and many others who would be directly or indirectly a part of the
early
#dementia and dementia radio community. Alcon 1 was the start of a lot of
huge changes for the dementia community. eventually the al only fans and all
inclusive dementia fans grew apart, but it all started at alcon.

to celebrate this 10 year anniversary, i'd love to have a gathering at the
same hotel the weekend of the 13th. originally, i thought i had a family
gathering that weekend, but it turns out to be the weekend before. i should
be free the weekend of the 13th. i would rent a suite(if they had one) and
we could hang out, listen to music, watch movie, cast, record id's, and
stuff. we could find some cool places to go to dinner, maybe go to rhps on
saturday some where in chicago. perhaps even a trip to a beach some where
for a picnic and swimming? who's interested?
