Hey! We've made Encyclopedia Dramatica!

This community is a spin-off of the original Mary Sue Report, [info]marysues.

Created simply because the Mary Sue Report was kind of becoming overrun with nothing but Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings sues.

This community is not intended to sit around and just make fun of or flame authors, it's more to...well...vent our frustrations and irritation over particularly bad pieces of fanfiction..or just as comedic relief, because let's face it, very few of these stories have anything salvagable in them.
Oh, who am I kidding? We all know very well the purpose of this place is to sit around and make brutal fun of really godawful fanfiction.
Just keep it here.

If you find your story here and are upset about it, try to relax.
There are reasons you should try to relax:

  1. Throwing a tempter tantrum will only serve to amuse us further.
  2. Amusing us further will cause us to sink our claws and teeth in deeper.
  3. Throwing a temper tantrum will not incite me to remove your fic. So long as no LJ TOS issues are being violated, it will stay posted. Don't like it? Sucks to be you.
  4. "But it's fanFICTION, I can do whatever I want!" No, you can't. Move along.

If you'd like some help on how to fix your character up and make it less of a Mary Sue, try [info]oc_analysis, they'll give you constructive criticism and pointers on how you can make your character and story better.
Think of [info]oc_analysis as a place to get objective views on your story and character, and not reviews given by friends who are afraid they might hurt your feelings.

Think of [info]deleterius as a place full of snarky, bitter, jaded, and somewhat bored canon nazis who will not hesitate to tear you several new orifices should you have the audacity to rape their beloved canon and their beloved canon characters.
We make no attempts to be objective, fair, or even remotely nice here. This is OUR playground after all.


Just a few rules; please do read them before posting or I may ban your brainless ass:

  1. I expect that you have a basic understanding of how to post to LJ and of how the community format works. If you don't, for the love of all things holy, DO NOT E-MAIL ME ABOUT IT AND DO NOT POST ABOUT IT! You'll only manage to irritate the hell out of me and make the rest of us laugh at your lack of brains. LJ provides FAQs and the format for sporkings can be easily found by, oh, let's go out on a limb and say: reading the community.


    Asking for help on basic LJ things that are answered in their FAQ or asking someone to "show you how a sporking is done" will probably get me to happily either remove you from the community or take away your posting access until your IQ hits the double digits.

  2. All new members must be approved. This is to help cut down on trollspammers. If you're not approved, you can't post new posts to the community. I'm the only one who approves new memberships, and sometimes it takes me a few days to get to them.
    Do not e-mail me about it. I don't care, and it won't make me do anything but deny you and make you wait for the next round as mild punishment for cluttering my already cluttered inbox.


  3. Don't spam. This means you may not post about things that you have for sale, your website (if it's not directly related to Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings Mary Sue fanfiction/RP), your zine, or anything of that nature. There are other communities out there for that sort of thing. This isn't one of them. Christ, I'd think that would be obvious, but evidently a few thick skulled orcs need to be told.

  4. Sporkings must be posted here, not fake lj-cut to your own journal or another community.

  5. This isn't one of those community promotion communities. Remember that.

  6. The vast majority of members and readers here speak and read English. Post in English.

  7. Check the memories before posting. Just about everything that's had 12 or more comments is in the memories now; normally it's categorized by Sue Name. PLEASE look at the memories before posting. I realize duplicates happen, but most can be avoided if you take the time to look.

  8. Criticize the story, mechanics, and character, NOT the author. However, if the author comes here and raises a stink, all bets are off...so long as it STAYS here.
  9. This does not mean, however, that you are entitled to or given license to harass the author on fanfiction.net, any chat medium, other messageboard, etc...we do not condone harassment or flaming of authors no matter how bad the fic is.

  10. Try not to make vendetta posts..i.e. "She looked at me funny, now I'm going to try to embarrass her!"

  11. English isn't always an author's first language. Just something to keep in mind.

  12. IP addresses are logged, so don't think you can get away with being a jerk.

  13. If you CAN find something redeemable about the fic, by all means, mention it.

  14. Going to fanfiction.net and flaming the author isn't something we endorse or condone. If you do leave a review intended for the author to see, make it constructive. The author doesn't learn anything from hearing "U SUCK!!" over and over.

  15. Off Topic (OT) posts are okay in tiny doses, so long as they somehow relate to HP or LotR fics, fan art, rp, etc...remember there are 1900+ users here, and not all of them are going to be interested in in-jokes, your personal life, or a conversation between you and a friend.
    If it's your first time posting and you want to introduce yourself, do it in a short paragraph above a story posting.

  16. On that note, any postings of forwarded jokes/annoying 'cute' things, virus hoaxes/'warings', chain letters, etc...will not only result in you being sent to either Azkaban or Barad-Dur, it will also result in you being banned from posting to the community.

  17. Email exists for OT banter between friends, use it.

  18. If your post includes an inline image for some reason (Some MS authors also draw their character), and it's not your image, just link it. If you're going to use it inline, upload it to your own space on the web, don't steal their bandwidth.
    Bandwidth stealing & remote linking images not on your server is evil, and will get you either a one way trip to Azbakan or Barad-Dur, depending on your preference.

  19. If you want to post, you have to join the community. I do not allow anonymous or non-member postings due to the high level of extremely irritating trolls who post what they think are witty one liners.

  20. If the story is posted in the author's livejournal do not link to the livejournal! Linking to another user's journal in that context is technically a violation of lj TOS, and can get the community suspended. Ask that people email you for the fic URL instead. To repeat: NEVER link to an author's livejournal without their permission! Doing so can get us in trouble with LJ's Abuse Team and if they come down on me, you'll be banned without question.

  21. Please be so kind as to limit posting to one Sue per Fandom per User per day. This means, for you slow ones, that you can post one Harry Potter Sue and one Lord of the Rings Sue per day. For the reasoning behind this rule, read this thread.

  22. DO NOT POST AN ENTIRE STORY OR CHAPTER! Ever. The story submission form says "small sample" for a reason.
    This applies even if it's a short story; only pick the best parts. I will delete any new entries that copy/paste an entire story. The only exception to this is if you're posting your own story. I mean it.
    I can and have banned people from posting who violate this rule.

  23. "You're violating my copyriiiiiiiiiiight! *SOBCRYWAAAAAAAAMBULANCE!*"
    Um, no, we're not.

    • According to The Publishing Law Center (http://www.publaw.com/cfaqs.html) :

      Copyright exists from the moment the work is created. You will have to register, however, if you wish to bring a lawsuit for infringement of a U.S. work.

      Under the fair use doctrine of the U.S. copyright statute, it is permissible to use limited portions of a work including quotes, for purposes such as commentary, criticism, news reporting, and scholarly reports. There are no legal rules permitting the use of a specific number of words, a certain number of musical notes, or percentages of a work. Whether a particular use qualifies as fair use depends on all the circumstances.

    In the spirit of Nelson from The Simpsons: HA HA! We're not violating any of your mythical copyright laws, and furthermore by that logic YOU are violating copyright laws by even writing fanfiction so do us all a favor and STFU.

  24. I wield the Stick of Bannination, and I use it on people who can't be arsed to read and/or follow the above.
    Obey the rules and we'll all be happy.

  25. If you were denied membership to the community, it's because your account either had a very trollish name, or because it was 'empty' or very new. If you were denied and you're not one of the troll types, IM me about it. Don't e-mail, it'll likely fall into my junk mail folder and I won't see it.


Deviation from the rules will be dealt with on a case by case basis and may end up resulting in an Avada or the casting into Orodruin.
Or in your being banned from the community.

She is also on fairly friendly speaking terms with no less than two Dark Lords, one marginally insane Istari and a few Death Eaters.
Keep this in mind when thinking of complaining or whining.
Also remember that she probably doesn't want to hear about it unless it's urgent or is about something that will bring about the Apocolypse.
[info]tviokh does monitor her community fairly closely, and tends to catch problems on her own.

Please don't send owls or Black Riders, as they tend to frighten her cockatiels & budgies.
Also remember that she finds House Elves rather creepy. She will, however, welcome evil wizards if said wizards do not sport a sleazy mustache. Evil wizards who are in possession of sleazy mustaches will be hexed on sight.

Upset that your Sue was featured here?
There are several steps that you can take. Please be assured we take all complaints for our own sick amusement very seriously.
If you are upset that your Sue has been featured here, please do the following:


  1. Fill out this form and email it to the community maintainer. She will most certainly place it in the community for mocking purposes take the form very seriously and respond as soon as she gets the chance.
  2. If your Sue was featured in a fanfiction centered around J.R.R. Tolkien's works, please also fill out the form that can be found here.
  3. Feel free to post to the community to voice your displeasure. Pretend to be other 'fans' of your story, invite your friends, however please be aware that [info]tviokh will not tolerate spamming of her community and will bring down the full swift and deadly force of her Clue Bat to those of you who would dare challenge this particular rule.
  4. Feel free to attempt to make us feel guilty. It won't work, but it will amuse us, and you will have our undying affection for having been so kind as to amuse us more than once.

Oh yes, Please: USE THE LJ-CUT TAG! I'm very crabby about this, if you post a long entry with no cut tags, you're subject to deletion. Don't worry, I know typos happen, so I do ask that you fix it before I delete it.
