'Salvation' - oh, the angst

Story Or Series Title:Salvation (can't seem to get these links to work right, so http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1664031&chapter=1;/a>
Fandom: The one where 'all the hott elves love me!'
Culprit Author's Name: Miriellar

Summary: A young woman on the verge suicide is brought to Middle-Earth and with a little help she finds that there are some things that make life worth living. Warning! Depression and very angsty. Some say it's a MS some say not- make up your own mind. I give it a resounding 'YES'!!!

Full Name (plus titles if any): Thalia
Full Species(es): Human - but, don't cha know, she becomes an elf
Hair Color (include adjectives): silver
Eye Color (include adjectives): 'startling blue eyes'
Unusual Markings/Colorations: body covered with scars from the self mutilation she practices almost daily.
Special Possessions (if any):  A  bundle of razor blades so she can continue to cut herself up in ME.
Annoying Origin: Brought to ME from our time by Galadriel after Thalia kills herself, don't know if it said why she was brought & don't care.
Annoying Connections To Canon Characters: Legolas falls in love with her almost instantly, Glorfindel becomes 'like a father' to her *stop messing with Glorfindel, dammit!*  and Haldir becomes a 'big brother' to her. Oh, the pain....
Annoying Special Abilities: The ability to make me retch. The ability  to turn Glorfindel, Haldir and Legolas - and later the twins - into a bunch of sobbing, pathetic saps.
Other Annoying Traits: cries ALOT.

Now, if you try to read this mess, I have to warn you: the author jumps back and forth from perspectives with no warning. The whole fic is written in the first person, but it jumps from Legolas' perspective, to Thalia's, to Haldir's , all over the place with no warning about whose thoughts you are reading. ARGH.

Please include a small sample of the worst of this story:

I had run from the burial of my parents and had gone straight to the training room in the hopes of expelling some of my anger and frustration. I was paying no attention to anything as I spared alone, not even myself. I had accidentally cut myself on the sharp edge of the blade. I sat down, shocked by my mistake, I never made mistakes. As I watched the crimson blood run down my arm I felt strangely satisfied. It was as if all my problems had left me along with the blood. But later that night the feelings came back. I managed to ignore it for a few days but it was fast becoming impossible. I turned a blade every night after that. I continued to use a blade for over five hundred years.

As I looked at her I could feel my raw emotions returning full force. I did not pity her. I felt only the deepest concern

And then when you found me Legolas. I've never been more ashamed in my life. I'd disappointed you and betrayed you when you tried so hard to make me happy. And I'm so sorry.

I looked up at Legolas and Glorfindel. They were both sat there with tears streaming down their faces, I looked toward Haldir, and he was in no better state. We all sat there looking at each other and crying.

Glorfindel gabbed me and hugged me, then Legolas and Haldir joined us. And I have never felt more loved. I had my three very best friend here with me, and now I had no secrets to be ashamed of. I let myself go and just sat here hugging them for all I was worth.

"I've never been more proud", Haldir said as he kissed me.

"Nor have we. It is true that we have wanted to know about your strange behaviour, but I doubt that any of us could have guessed the torment that you have survived. You are the daughter I have always wished for pen-neth", I cried as Glorfindel told me this. Since my dad had changed I had wished for him back but it never happened. Now I had another whom I knew would never hurt me and would always look after me

"Thalia, would you do me the honour of allowing me to become your new father. I will give you a home and you will want for noting". Glorfindel said, I could hear the fear of rejection clearly in his voice. I couldn't speak, I threw my arms around him and cried into his shoulder. "Glorfindel, I would be honoured to call you my father if you would have me. We held each other as we cried out all out emotions.

Legolas and Haldir sat on the bed watching us. I pulled away from Glorfindel and beckoned them over into a group hug.

An hour later we all began to fall asleep. I was nestled tightly in between Glorfindel and Legolas. Legolas had his arms wrapped round me so tight that I thought I would burst. We had found a new understanding tonight. It was as if we had discovered each other again. I met him again, as the elf- Legolas who wanted nothing more than to love me and I would let him. And I would give him all I had.

Haldir was on the other side of Glorfindel. He wasn't just Haldir the marchwarden anymore, he was Haldir my brother. He was the big brother that would stand up for me and always make sure that wasn't I any trouble.

I fell asleep, a new person with a new family. **gagging uncontrollably*

"What you don't know, is that she has been brought home".

"Home?" Elladan asked.

"Lady Galadriel went to Thalia on the night of her death. She had heard the call of Thalia's soul. Unbeknownst to Thalia she was in the wrong realm, or at least her soul was. I cannot tell you the details because I do no know them. After her arrival in Middle-Earth she met Legolas. They did not know it at the time, but their souls have matched. As you know, elves only love once and when they do, they love their match completely. It usually takes a few years before a pair of souls meet and intertwine. But in this case, Legolas' soul felt the pain and sorrow that she eminated, and before he could do anything about it, his soul answered".

Immediate soul bonding was rare and very few knew what actually went on when this happened. I hoped that I was explaining this well, I was trying my best.

"So, why has it taken so long for either of them to realise it?" Glorfindel asked, his concern for both evident in the hushed tone of his voice.

"Legolas realised it almost immediately. But Thalia fought against it. Her soul tried to hide from the love he so readily offered her. The fear she felt towards her father hindered her own feelings. However, part of her soul did accept him, which is why she was most trusting with Legolas"

It just goes on and on from here, gets worse and worse. They return to Rivendell, her father kills her mother back in our world, then hangs himself in jail. They are both brought to ME after they die too, and since her father was so evil that his beatings made her begin to cut herself, he, of course, runs into Saruman who helps make him MORE evil and then he comes after Thalia to finish her off. *twitch** Oh yeah, and THEN, when dear old dad is caught, Elrond has him executed for his crimes. *twitch, twitch**

I simply can't post anymore about this, there is just too much horror here to choose anymore without my eyes beginning to bleed.

So...a little girl is angry at her Daddy for catching her sneaking out and making out with her boyfriend/having sex with her boyfriend/smoking pot, etc, and she wants Glorfindel to be her Daddy because he wouldn't care if she snuck out with Legolas and smoked pot...

That's what it sounds like to me.

Mighty, mighty WTF issuing from my horrified lips...

First of all, puppy piles and the words "group hug" should never be uttered in conjunction anything Tolkienesque.

Secondly, the day Haldir starts to be a cutter is the day the moon turns to lime Jell-o and the sky rains twonies.

Thirdly, [vomit].

That is all.

Why, Glorfindel, why??

Glorfindel, I would be honoured to call you my father if you would have me. We held each other as we cried out all out emotions.

But in this case, Legolas' soul felt the pain and sorrow that she eminated, and before...

...she could do anything about it, he ran away and went to join the Fellowship at the Council of Elrond. That is why he hasn't been seen lately. Bastard left us to do his dirty work," Haldir grumbled.

Glorfindel shrugged. "Whatever, dude. I owe her a few centuries' worth of hurt for making me into some insane daddy figure. I mean, what, am I not among the hottest Elves in Middle Earth? Am I not an Elf-Lord in all his Glory? Freaking right I am," he said, nodding, "and she'll learn to regret toying with me. Tell you what, those black riders had it easy in the River compared to what that one has coming."

"No doubt," Haldir said, in total agreement. "Big brother, my arse. What, can I not do much slaying with my own bow and arrows? Could I not hear a dwarf breathing in the forest? Do fangirls all over the world not wish my tunic had been just a *bit* shorter? Silly Biatch!Sue. She knows nothing. Let's lay down a little smack."

Glorfindel snorted, and they walked toward the Sue's quarters. They were met halfway there by Galadriel.

"You guys, I owe you big for this. I don't know what the hell I was thinking, listening to some silly twit's soul when I could have been, oh, I don't know, doing whatever it is, exactly, that I do when I'm not listening to some silly twit's soul."

"You've got to work on that," Glorfindel observed, raising an eyebrow. "I mean, *seriously*."

Galadriel nodded. "Well, it's been a while since the Wars of Wrath, and even longer since I left Valinor, and I'm just about ready to open a can or two of whup-ass. Let's go, homies."

They went.

They saw.

They sporked.

:sporksporksporksporksporksporksporksporksporksporksporksporksporksporksporksporksporksporksporkspork:

It was good.
