Smith's everyday life in the dorms - hanging out with his arty, sarcastic best friend Stella, hooking up with a beautiful free spirit named London, lusting for his gorgeous but dim surfer roommate Thor - all gets turned upside-down after one fateful, terrifying night. Tripping on some hallucinogenic cookies he ate at a party, Smith is convinced he's witnessed the gruesome murder of an enigmatic Red Haired Girl who has been haunting his dreams.

From director Gregg Araki comes a sexy comedy-thriller, Kaboom. Set on a university campus, the story follows Smith, whose idyllic freshman year is turned upside down when, after tripping on hallucinogen-laced cookies, he becomes convinced he’s witness a horrible murder.

As he searches for the truth, Smith tumbles deeper and deeper into a dark conspiracy. The comedic tone of the film pokes fun at organised religion – one in particular that is well known for its ties to Hollywood, although it is never named.

The cast is made up of up-and-coming US talent including Thomas Dekker, Chris Zylka and Juno Temple. Also starring are Kelly Lynch and Roxanne Mesquida. Kaboom will be ready in early 2010 with a small chance it could be finished in time for Sundance.

'Kaboom' adds four to cast
Thomas Dekker, Kelly Lynch join Gregg Araki indie pic

Gregg Araki is detonating his next picture.

The writer-director ("The Doom Generation") has cast Roxane Mesquida, Thomas Dekker, Kelly Lynch and Rooney Mara in "Kaboom," which follows the sexual awakening of a group of college students. Araki is shooting the indie feature now.

Araki, repped by Untitled Entertainment, is the director of "Smiley Face," "Mysterious Skin" and "The Living End."

Repped by APA and Untitled, Mesquida has appeared in "The Last Mistress" and "Fat Girl." This will be the French actress' American feature debut.

Dekker, repped by ICM and the Schiff Co., starred in "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and recently appeared in the feature "My Sister's Keeper." He next appears in the remake of "A Nightmare on Elm Street," releasing in April.

Lynch, repped by Talent Works and Crestview Entertainment, appeared on Showtime's "The L Word" and in the features "Charlie's Angels" and "Road House."

Mara, repped by Gersh and Sanders & Armstrong Management, next stars in "Youth in Revolt," hitting theaters in January, and "Nightmare on Elm Street."

Yesterday I could watch "My Sister's Keeper" here in German cinema   Finally !

Tom is damned good !
He plays that cancer-patient Taylor in his chapter of the movie so unobtrusive but nevertheless moving.
Unfortunately it is only a short part of the movie.

Also the other actors and actresses (Cameron Diaz, Sofia Vassilieva, Jason Patric, Alec Baldwin, Evan Ellingson and Abigail Breslin) are great. The movie simply concentrates on the characters and their story. That's why it attracts you the whole time.

The best movie I've seen in cinema this year.

I gave it a 10 at IMDb !
