[info]cateris and I are aching, seriously aching for Dir en grey fic. There is such a lack of good fic, such a lack of fic at all. We are just a few people still writing it and i think it's sad, there are tons of you who just gave up, and for good reasons i'm sure. I hereby ask and invite you to come back and write. I know there are good authors in this fandom, i know there are fabulous authors in this fandom, i know that some are sick of even trying anymore, but i ask you to still take a shot. We, the lonely writers and readers need you. We need you to keep the bandom going, we need your beautiful words, we need your stories and fictional fragments of life cleverly interwoven. We need the writing, the reading, the squee, the discussions, all that makes a bandom good. We need you. We need to stop browsing in communities in pain and despair because there's so little out there, and out of that small so much is far from good. I know you are talented, i know you are there and i hope you'll write again.

I am not asking for a certain fic, i am not asking for a particular pairing. I am requesting more Diru fic in general. I am asking that you try. I am asking that you remember the beautiful people they are, the interesting and complex personalities that they have, the infinite possibilities of interaction, i ask you to remember your favorite dynamic, your OTP, your innermost thougths, i ask you to consider writing something you haven't before, to try your hand at a new pairing, to ignore how everyone else is writing a certain character, subject, pairing. I ask you to make it your own and show it to us.

Because i know you can.

And if you still need inspiration of some sort, please enjoy the images below. Feel free to use them as you wish, feel free to let yourself inspired or not, to write for them or against them, together or apart, to let your mind just go and take you and us somewhere.

Let these be the map and pictures of your prose... )
Thank you.

Also, please raise your hand if you still write and direct us to where you do, we'd like to friend you. Feel free to friend us back if you want. :)

Oi everyone!  I'm a noob on this community.  ^-^

Does anyone else get annoyed with people who write fics where Kyo cuts himself, and do it unrealistically?  I mean, it's fine it have him cut himself, if it's part of the plot or character or whatever.  But it seems like he's always bleeding these copious amounts of blood, without really cutting deeply at all.

It's like, he cuts himself on the arm or something, and suddenly, his arm is dripping with blood.

That doesn't really happen.

This is probably a problem is other fandoms too.  I remember, in the Yuugiou fandom, whenever the characters had anal sex, they wouldn't even use lubrication because the writer assumed that the blood would be enough to lubricate it!  It's so crazy.  At least fanfic in Dir en Grey use condoms and lube.

But, really...  It takes a really deep cut to make your arm drip blood.  Like, a really really really deep cut.  (I think I used to word "really" five times in this past paragraph.  Ooh...six.)

The other characters are constantly sounding like teenage girls.  WTF.  Especially Toshiya.  I don't get it.  The man doesn't even dress like a teenage girl anymore.  And then, like, Kaoru is their mother or something.  And Kyo is their pet.

Have you guys noticed this?  Kyo acts like a child, or a kitten, in fanfiction!  I was under the impression he was a thirty-some year old man, but he acts like he's three year old in some fics I've read.  And he, like, sleeps everywhere.  It's really obvious when the writer has never done any actual research on the band because Kyo tend to pout, like, every thirty seconds.

Either that, or he's a complete asshole.  And I've never met the man...maybe he is, or something.  I'd like to think otherwise, though.

Hi guys,

This comm has been a bit dead lately, which makes me very sad, since I think there are still lots of bad diru fics to rant about.
Anyway, I'd like to know your opinion about this (recent?) trend of writing diru fics where Kyo is a drug addict. Don't you think they're a pain in the ass?

I don't think I can safely assume that the world is finally free of bad Diru-fics, no, I think what we really need is more Diru-fics (especially the bad ones) to rant about.

Why do you think people don't write as much Diru fics these days as they used to?

Because deep down I'm a sucker for drama (and b*tch slapping, and inane endless debate) and maybe you are too, because we're all in this community together.

A comment I stumbled across while browsing for badfics (since I'm in a ranty mood...):

Heh, D/K is hot when written well. Otherwise it's irritating. I find them challenging to write. Just like S/T cuz D/K is like seme/seme, and S/T is uke/uke @_@

... There are no words. D:

When I first got into Dir en grey fandom I read a lot of Totchi!angst and there was this thing I kept wondering about, so I did some research and found out the 'truth'. I quit reading that kind of fic until ... now.

Why do people always have to portray Toshiya's dad as some kind of rapist?

Okay, there's this interview in which Toshiya states that his father beat him up once so that he had to go to the hospital, but there's a difference.

I'm not saying it's okay to beat up your child, but personally I've never had one so I couldn't say. There may be times when you just ... snap because you're so angry.

Also, Toshiya's father (unless he was a teen when his son was born, which I doubt) is generations ahead of us. People were brought up differently back then and physically punishing your children was normal. Toshiya didn't sound like he was traumatized for life in that interview so I guess he didn't think of it out of the ordinary either.

Raping your own children, however, was never considered all right and I doubt he did do that.

I think it's just rude to constantly write something like this.

Promotion Under The Cut )

I was going to post some fanfic recs but I have a rant instead.

Why do some people feel the need to place those "Dir en grey is not the only jrock band" colorbars in their user info? Good for you. You listen to more then one band. I was reading this diru fic and decided to check out the author's user info and I see that they have that diru colorbar. What kills me was that she liked Dir en grey. Maybe it's just me but I find it a little silly/childish and maybe even a little rude. I don't go around making anti L'arc en Ciel banners (not that I hate them. I'm just using them as an example ^-^)

I'm glad you know that Dir en grey is not the only jrock band out there. I'm sure a lot of people don't just listen to diru. I for one listen to other jrock bands and even American bands. Heck, I even listen to bollywood music.

The great thing about music is that it's all about personal taste. Music (in the sense of personal taste) can't really be bad except for Paris Hilton.

Phew. That was cleansing. I feel so much better now :D

Oh, and I'm thinking of creating a rant-community like this one, only it would be for JRock-fics in general, not only Dir en grey. I have way too many Gazette-fic-rants I need to get out somewhere D: Would anyone be interested in helping me with moderating and such? :D?

Has anyone here actually been guilty of committing any of the fanfic-writing 'sins' a lot of us have ranted here before? 8D

Also, am I the only one who's noticed the lack of good smutfic lately? If I'm wrong and just bad at looking, please point me at the right direction. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I updated [info]drowned_kingdom (finally) with a rec/review, featuring [info]decadentrebel's absolutely stunning AU WIP, 'Predestination'. The review can be found here, to save me from waxing poetic over the story here. You have to be a member to read, but I assure you it's a short read! The link ot the actual story is here. Enjoy!

So, seeing as I was inspired by the good!fic recc month, I thought I'd put in a little bit of advertisement for a few authors ^_^ I've been hosting a website called Average Psycho for a little over a year now and it has some good authors!

www.averagepsycho.net if you wanna check it out. Of course my fics are on it too and even though I do like some of my fics. Lots of em are badly written smut (with all the cliche's) to get it out of my system XD I apologize in advance for that.

Some great authors: PokeyPillow, 7chan, Riyo (that's Akaisora on lj, cause some might know her better by that name ^^; ) and personally I like the fluffiness that are Genkified Pyke's fics (though I really should update her profile with tons of fics she's finished in the meanwhile.) Also there's RP's under the collab section where authors co-wrote pieces by rp-ing ^_^v

So yeah, sorry for the blatant advertisement of my website, but there's some great authors on it! They'd love it if you'd check it out!^_^

(p.s. Sorry for ignoring the rule about linking to a specific fic, but there's a lot of great fics up there ^^;;; )

STFU
Dear Pain-In-My-Ass,

I am so incredibly pissed off with you at the moment, I want to find you and hit you over the head with an Encyclopedia. I've had enough of fandom wars, but this just takes the cake.

Having read a recent post in a friend's LJ, I have seen you a) whinge about a community which you don't even have to look at, b) whinge about authors cross-posting their fics and c) ridicule not only MY story, but a lot of other works I, personally, love.

People like you make me wonder why I even bother. It's so frustrating when you put a hell of a lot of work into something, only for ignorant people to come along and piss all over it. Sure, my idea wasn't original. Reality check: NOTHING IS ORIGINAL. Do you think Oscar Wilde didn't base 'The Importance of Being Earnest' on issues of love, social status and identity, and instead made everything up off the top of his head? Do you think JK Rowling made up an entirely new and unknown mythological beast called the centaur? NO. They were inspired by it.

But I go on writing, despite people like YOU who put me down, because I know people like my fics. I don't write for you, I rarely even write for myself - I write for people who want to read what I've written, and enjoy it.

So, basically, this is my point: DON'T YOU DARE INSULT MY WORK OR ANYONE ELSE'S JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE IT, YOU IGNORANT LITTLE PERSON.

And you're real mature for purposely NOT making your post friends only. Really, I applaud your sheer wit.

'Nuff said.

No love,

              Me

Edited to add: Not only am I mad at you, I'm also offended. I know for a fact I've done or said nothing to hurt your feelings; in fact, when people were being shitty to you, I'm the one who tried to be nice and friendly despite disagreeing with your views. So next time you want to shit all over my work, take that into consideration, won't you?

1. If you don't like a pairing, don't fucking read it. These things are behind LJ-cuts for a reason.

2. Rather than accuse someone of starting a fandom war, take a look at yourself. You're part of it by stating that.

3. No one said their pairing was better than yours.

4. Most people aren't stupidly obsessed with their pairing. Like a lot? Yes. Love? In many cases, yes! Obsessed to the point of turning into a jelly fish? NO.

5. Instead of talking about how much you hate a certain pairing, why not use that energy to contribute to what ever pairing you do like?

6. Instead of accusing fandoms of being "unoriginal" (dear God, even Mark Twain and Victor Hugo were inspired by something), why don't YOU come up with something that you can claim to be "original" for your own fandom? Your degrading words don't mean much if you can't show anything that's quality, yourself.

7. Don’t complain about fics being cross posted or seeing pairings you don't like WHEN YOU’RE IN THE LARGEST J-ROCK YAOI/DIR EN GREY YAOI COMMUNITIES ON LJ.
And you're an ass if you comment on someone's entry in one of those communities simply because you don't like the pairing. If you don't like the idea of seeing a pairing you don't like, don't be a member of those communities. Instead, join a community that is centered around whatever pairing you do like.

and finally...
8. JESUS CHRIST, TAKE A CHILL PILL. Don't get so easily irritated by pairings you dislike. Haven't you got something better to do with your life? If you're going to get irritated and put on your ranty-pants, get irritated over something worth while! Seriously, STFU and stop complaining. Enjoy whatever pairing/fandom you belong to without sticking your ugly head into other people's business who are just trying to express their creativity.

This isn't directed towards ANY pairing fandom in particular, this is directed to every person who has done one or more of those eight things.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed of the following:

1. Fics cross-posted everywhere, especially if it's a pairing I don't really like to read;

2. The italics tag overused, and the use of asterisks for the use of emphasis;

3. Lack of originality. Oh, so you're basing your fic on some popular literary piece, whoop dee doo. Doesn't mean it's awesome, it being just a copy and all;

and finally,

4. Fanfiction and authors that are being recced EVERYWHERE by their usually blind and very biased fangirls. It would be so much better if the fic is actually good.

Dear all of you that have commented on my older, unfinished fics:

I'm sorry to have disappointed you. I know those stories are unfinished; however, I left them as such for a reason. As I look back on them now I physically cringe over the writing. Please stop telling me to continue something I have no wish of continuing - I know you have an imagination, and I built it up to a point where it would be easy to just mentally continue it on your own. Hell, I invite you to finish the fic! Lord only knows half of you steal other peoples' ideas anyway.

Meh. )

Thank you for your co-operation.

Can someone explain to me the logic behind fic writer's removing their fanfiction from the internet?

I say this because this really good Dir en grey fic writer made a fuss at the KxT comm a few months back and removed all her fics from the archive. Which kinda sucks, because not only do people like me NOT get to read it, future readers won't get to read it either.
