Can't post to Blogger.com because of a date/time format error
I'm running DeepestSender 0.8 on Firefox 2.0.0.4 (although this happened on 2.0.0.3 as well) on Linux (Ubuntu 7.04/kernel 2.6.20-15/SMP/i686).

I didn't know that DS worked with Blogger for the longest time, so I recently tried it.  When I try posting to Blogger, I get the following popup message:
Alert
Error sending post: [Line 2, Column 222, element published] Invalid date/time format:
'2007-06-10T22:51Z'.

I've looked for options that could change that, and didn't notice any. Any idea what's going on?

Looks like a borked ISO8601 date string; the timezone is missing. Do you have a correct timezone set? I don't know if Firefox maintains its own timezone setting, it should ask the OS if it behaves correctly.

Or actually, just a Z would mean UTC, so ignore that. I should know better than to post when I can't sleep cuz I've got a headache. So the problem might be those ', or "'". Unless, of course, Blogger doesn't speak ISO8601 ... which would be curious, but given what I know about the software, not entirely impossible.

Looks like Google changed something about how it wants dates to be represented. in the jar file I commented out //post.date = new Date();

from blogger.js -- and now I can post -- but there are still problems with history.

over - nevermind on the previous reply -- the fix is.

in atom.js
change
var iso8601 = this.date.toISO8601String(4);
to
var iso8601 = this.date.toISO8601String(5);

Google expects the seconds to be displayed in the timestamp

ok, so I was a little confused by this post from Todd, but I've gotten in touch with him and he cleared things up for me. Hopefully what I've learned will help someone else.

Blogger Date/Time Fix:
•Make sure Firefox and Deepest Sender are closed.
•In Windows XP, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\CURRENT USER NAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\SOME NUMBER.default\extensions\{SOME LONG STRING}\chrome
•Please note that this path is different from computer to computer and you may have to hunt for it. It should be similar, however.
•you're looking for "deepestsender.jar" - this is an archive file. the easiest thing to do is rename it from .jar to .zip and then extract the files to a temporary folder.
•Next, you'll need to locate the "atom.js" file. (Located in the content/protocols folder)
•Edit atom.js in your favorite text editor.
•Find and replace "var iso8601 = this.date.toISO8601String(4);" with "var iso8601 = this.date.toISO8601String(5);"
•Save your changes and zip your files back up. Rename the archive back to "deepestsender.jar".
•You're done. Restart Firefox and crank up Deepest Sender. Happy Blogging!

It took me a while to figure this out, but I was able to use this fix to get Deepest Sender working again with Blogger. I posted what I did on my blog at:
http://www.soot-n-smoke.com/tsayles/2007/08/fixing-deepest-sender.html

Hope this helps.

It looks like the fix was made in the CVS source at MozDev.org (http://www.mozdev.org/source/browse/deepestsender/src/content/protocols/atom.js.diff?r1=1.15&r2=1.16&f=h), so I would expect it to be in the next official release.

And also the same here, using windows xp and firefox 2.0.0.4

No post goes through, even an empty one, stating there is an invalid date/time format...

Pitty, 'cause the addon looked promising...

I just found this extension and I was really excited about it. I spent about 10 minutes writing a review as a fresh post to my blogger account, and when I was satisfied, I clicked "post" --- same error as listed above...

I've been looking for something like this for a long time... hope this gets resolved soon...

Blogger Date/Time Fix:

* Make sure Firefox and Deepest Sender are closed.
* In windows XP, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\[current user name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\hz4x3hq1.default\extensions\{B9DAB69C-460E-4085-AE6C-F95B0D858581}\chrome
* Please note that this path may differ on your computer and you may have to hunt for it manually. It should be similar, however.
* The file you're looking for is "deepestsender.jar" - this is an archive file. the easiest thing to do is rename it from .jar to .zip and then extract the files to a temporary folder. (Note that if you use WinRAR then you will not need to change the file name.)
* Next, you'll need to locate the "atom.js" file. (Located in the content/protocols folder)
* Edit atom.js in notepad or your favorite text editor (I recommend Notepad++).
* Find and replace "var iso8601 = this.date.toISO8601String(4);" with "var iso8601 = this.date.toISO8601String(5);"
* Save your changes and zip your files back up (Right click on the folder and select send to - compressed folder). Rename the archive to "deepestsender.jar".
* You're done. Restart Firefox and crank up Deepest Sender. Happy Blogging!
