dearasshole is now taking members.We all need a safe place to vent, to talk freely about the jerks who annoy us. It doesn't matter if you may have a long list of gripes or only a passing issue. This is your sounding board.
Share you secrets for revenge, tell us how you cope, confide how much you want to humiliate them and expose them for the assholes they truly are.
You do have to join in order to see the Friends Only post, but so far membership is open. In fact, if you have suggestions like on what we should add as the community interests, please leave a note here. Since this is a community for the members, we'd like the members to participate in the ownership of it. That means, you can help us with design ideas, content, rewriting the rules if and when necessary and anything that we're haven't thought of yet.
At first we thought this would be a place for women/girls to get things off our chests, but we realized there are some really great guys out there who have just as much angst to vent as we might. Guys are creative and we'd like to know a little more about what drives you crazy. Really, vent any problem you have. If we think it's a little too much, we'll quietly tap you on the should and give you a nudge, but we designed this because there are few places that really let you just vent. Tell us what really is driving you crazy and why. Don't just tell us that a person is an asshole, show us how deserving they are of your letter.
There are a few request:
• Keep it in the community. Please don't post links about a certain posts from
dearasshole in your journal.• Start your posts as a letter to "Dear Asshole".
• Be kind to each other in this community, this is a place to come to vent, not to become the assholes we detest.
• If you're revealing a particular act of revenge, be careful not to say something that could get you into legal trouble. Be as specific as you'd like, but be vague when necessary.
• If you see someone griping about another LJ user, don't blab to them about it even if it's a friend.
• Please do not post the name of an LJ user you think is an asshole. You can use their first name or initials, but giving the link to their journal is only asking for trouble. If you can't respect this, the maintainers can and likely will ban you, and even post your journal name for the entire community to see, mocking you for being so much of an asshole that you'd get banned from
dearasshole.• Make your posts friends only. If you're complaining about a particular person, it's less likely they'll see it.
• LJ cuts are really helpful to all of us, if you're going to post something long or a photo that's large or could be considered troubling to someone, it's best to use a cut. Remember, some people may have
dearasshole on their Friends list and what might not be offensive to some, might be to others.• This is your community. Really, post about whatever or whomever is pissing you off, but beware that you may at some point be the subject of a post yourself. Take it in stride and remember, some days you're cool, somedays your strange and somedays, we just can't fucking take you.
