Dear EMU student who took my flash drive,
Finding my flash drive in a computer in the library and then deciding to keep it rather than turning it in kind of makes me hate you.
Signed, Girl who was dumb and forgot her flash drive five minutes after thinking "they should have a sign that says 'don't forget your flash drive' "
p.s. I'm still holding out a little hope that you're not an ass hole, but rather a nice person who decided to take it to find my name and e-mail.

Dear EMU,
I noticed you haven't cancelled classed for EMU Ypsilanti. Most public districts in my area already have. Why haven't you? This is frustrating to those of us who commute.
Everyone keep their fingers crossed! Otherwise...Drive safe everyone.

Website for closure info: http://www.emich.edu/univcomm/closureinfo/emuclosings.php
I suppose it's because EMU is paid for and they don't want people complaining about "not getting their moneys worth". That would explain why Ypsi public is closed and we aren't.

please change your website's format so that i don't have to click "yes" to allow the content of every single my.emich page... over and over again.
if it's just me being computer illiterate than i apologize... but i'm pretty sure it's your fault.
love always, an overly-dedicated student

Dear EMU,
Please take the money you are spending buying and installing mini-blinds for every towers room, and spend it on a different snow-plowing company. Preferably one that doesn't plow in every parked car they can. Besides, Mini-Blinds? Do you know how often you will have to replace those?
Dear Sidewalk Plow Guy,
Thank you for plowing me out of my parking spot, I would have been trying to get all that snow out for a half an hour if you hadn't been so kind.
Dear EMU Students,
I hope finals are going well, or over for you. Have a safe and happy winter break!

Dear Person on 3rd floor Best (I think) who was practicing (I think) Flight of the Bumblebee on Monday morning, Thank you. That practically made my morning--hearing that while I was brushing my teeth. You're playing something else right now, but I don't recognize it. Maybe it's just scales? Still, it's pretty. Sincerely, The Girl on 2nd floor Best
Dear Random Girl in the Eateries, Thank for letting me know that varsity jackets aren't cool here. I'll be sure to take that into account every wintery morning when I'm trying to stay warm. Also, I'll factor that into my thought processes when I'm missing my boyfriend (the previous owner of the jacket...I really do realize it's cliche, but it's true). (And at the risk of sounding catty, I don't really think that you, in your wishful-thinking jeans and your look-at-me shirt, should really be giving out fashion advice.) Eh. Whatever. How about this: I'll keep wearing my jacket and you can just have a great day. That girl in the totally-unfashionable winter coat (oh, the horror!)
Dear Dorm Room, Goodness, it's good to be sleeping here again, as opposed to my house. Who would have thought that a blasted dorm building could possibly be quieter than a single-family home with just four people in it? Appreciatively, Me

Dear EMU Residents,
You'd think everyone nagging you about it would get the point across. Or the constant emails from DPS about laptops, etc. being stolen from unlocked rooms - even when residents were inside of them. I guess not.
LOCK YOUR DOORS. Really, it's just not worth the risk.
Sincerely, Someone who thinks you're lucky if only your laptop gets stolen.

Dear EMU, No bitching from me this time, just a question: if you live in the dorms, is your radiator working? A while ago (remember that week when it was actually a nice temperature out *just* before it got cold again), my roommate and I played with the knob until we managed to turn it off. But of course, now it's getting a little chilly, and I don't know whether we aren't turning the knob far enough or if EMU's just turned off the heat, period. Just checking!
Love, Me

Dear EMU,
If you're going to bother having campus police patrol our lovely parking lots, you should teach them what to do when a student is having car trouble and is obviously trying to flag them down for help. My battery just needed a jump, it wouldn't have been that difficult to stop for a couple seconds and help out. Thanks for all the help you didn't provide.

Dear EMU,
Thank you for finally getting the grand scheme of campus safety and emailing a bulletin out within twenty four hours of the event. Now, it'd be nice if this trend would continue and when I see news vans parked by the Eateries again, I don't have to go check Google News first.
Love, A now less concerned dorm resident.

Golf carts are not pedestrian killers. When I'm walking to class, you may kindly drive politely and not try to run me into the grass. You're the one driving a fucking golf cart on the sidewalk -- if it's crowded and you have to go slow, then so fucking what. Go DIAF.
No love, Me

Dear People (particularly in Pray-Harrold), The elevators are slow, right? Slow and often crowded. Why do you insist upon riding an already-full elevator up one stinking floor? How much faster do you really get there, after standing in line for the elevator and waiting for it to come, and then getting in, and riding its slowness up ten feet?
No love, A girl who is always a little late for her class on the 7th floor because you can't go up 12-14 stairs.
Dear QuickFixx, Why did you let me buy your black licorice assortment?' I like black licorice, but christ this is disgusting. Is that fondant on it? Sprinkles? Sheesh. Also, the "burnt peanuts" aren't good either, though they do have a sort of addictive crunch.
Sincerely, A girl who wanted candy but was disappointed.

dear EMU,
i suppose when someone is accepted into your graduate school as a domestic student, you don't want to be bothered with giving them too much information about how to successfully do everything they need to do in order to start their academic endeavors with you on the right foot. it can be a real hassle to include xeroxed copies of instructions regarding how to obtain a student ID, or a parking pass, or to let them in on a key tidbit about student insurance: namely that domestic students qualify for insurance, but unless they seek it out themselves, and pay the insurance company themselves, they will not be covered in any way. knowledge is power, and i fully admit that you have more power than me right now.
however, don't get haughty with me when i point out your shortcomings. this is my fourth college in nearly 10 years of academia, spanning about 1400 miles of this country. you do things fucked up. other schools will help you when you fork over the cash. they have you over a barrel anyway. but that's okay. you can think you're special if you really want to. you kind of are... in that short bus kind of way.
thank you, though, for rubbing my nose in it once i finally figured out how to ask the right questions. thanks for pointing out that even if i were to remedy the insurance situation by sending in my check, that i still won't be able to get the medical care i need, because of the shitty insurance you choose to provide for your students.
srsly, is it so hard to WANT your students to succeed? this includes helping us to become physically capable of going to class. we pay you enough. perhaps i'm missing the big picture. i mean, what do YOU care about MY ability to go to class, once you have my tuition money in your hands?
fuckers.
no love, the girl with a "pre-existing" knee injury who can't get treatment

Dear EMU,
PLEASE CLEAN THE SHIT OFF THE STALL IN THE WOMEN'S BATHROOM IN HALLE LIBRARY. And somehow, someway, the stall in the back is hanging on it's last hinge. (Dane Cook sure knew what he was talking about in his CD)
And while you're at it, fix all your malfunctioning computers too. I'm tired of hopping from one computer to the next when all I want to do is type a damn paper. And by the looks/sighs of everyone else in this library, they appear to be quite annoyed as well.
current mood: annoyed
