Hello,
I heard about a sermon at our church, in Vista, CA. Our pastor knew your mother when she growing up. Her story, along with your grandpa's story of your lives now, inspired our pastors sermon for father's day today. I am gonna get a copy of the sermon for i was not there. Your mother has touched the lives of many be very proud of her. I too was a single mothers for years. I wish I would of known about your mothers wonderful work before now. may god bless you and keep you safe.
your in my prayers,
a loving mother

Dear Cade,

I never met your mom. When I was pregnant with my son, I was terrified that I was not worthy of him because I didn't own a house, have the right job, the right husband, the right bank account, the right baby things. Someone gave me a copy of "Breeder", and while I read the book compulsively, it's your mama's essay about her pregnancy with you that stands out. Her clarity and strength helped me realize how ridiculous I was being. Your mama helped me be a better mother to my son.

Most people want to be good people, to make a difference. Your mom was, and did.

Dear Cade-

We have only meet once at a baby shower when I went to class with your mom Julie. I lost my mother at age 8 and as I sit here all I can think about is how easily your mom touched lives and moved people. I admired how confident and brave she was and made friends even with a shy awkward person like me. She inspired me with her passionate ideas about being a mother. When you are older and memories have faded or memories that should have been made have been lost- It is important for you to know where you came from. They are large shoes to fill. But when you are compationate, know it came from your mom, when you teach others about equality and fight for justice for all people- know you got that from your mom, when you have more friends than you can handle and people love you right away- know you got that from you mom- when people are drawn to your quick smile and easy laughter know that you got that from your mom. When mothers day comes every year, it is ok to be sad and its ok to be angry. When you feel like no one understands and its not fair- know you are right. When you feel like you cant take the sadness, may you know how many people love you. - Joanna
