About Heroes tonight:
(insert random incoherent flailing here)
Fans seem to be abandoning the show in droves, but not me, man. I'm still hooked.
(semi-spoilery: How many fangirls squeed maliciously at the last scene in Mohinder's lab?)
(I also find it amusing that even the narration refers to Mr. Bennet as "HRG." And speaking of him-- if you made a drinking game of how many creepy Bad Touch moments were between him and Claire tonight, you'd be pretty damn faceplanted right now.)
(Though for creepy Bad Touch, I don't think anything could beat Evil Clown Guy at the end.)

It annoys me so much when people say people from New Jersey are rude. There are rude people everywhere of course, but from the moderate number of places I've been I'd have to say there's no more of it here than anywhere else. And above all people respond to you based on how you present yourself to them. If you carry yourself with an aura of grumpiness and stand offishness, people are going to pick up on that and respond accordingly. But if you greet them with a smile on your face and a friendly word they will respond in kind. Today I went into so many stores and spoke to so many people, both associates and shoppers, and was rewarded with a smile out of almost every single one, and even a few laughs. I walked across streets and got multiple waves from courteous drivers letting me by. Not everyone is going to respond to a fellow citizen's good humor, but if you start out expecting and presenting the worst, you're probably going to get it. Whenever I use the word "citizen" I think of communism.

| What we learned in class tonight: |
[13 Oct 2008|10:02pm] |
The key to balance: clench your butt.
We had the young, "shameless" teacher tonight - a bit more entertaining than usual. :)
We also learned some kind of setting step that I can't even attempt to spell, which vaguely reminded me of the hokey pokey.
I got to wear my 'dance sneakers', and they kinda squeak all over the place. But hey, they probably ARE the comfiest pair of shoes I've ever had, so. The toe socks, on the other hand foot, not so much.
There's dancing stuff going on the weekend of the 25th, but because there's a NEWARK SYMPHONY CONCERT on the 26th at 3pm (with a preconcert talk before that), I have rehearsal that Saturday from 1 - 4:30, just enough to kill my whole day. T_T

This will be the conclusion of the last political cartoon for a bit. Gotta move on to bigger and funnier things. Just a reminder I will be appearing at Zenkaikon this coming weekend. And on that note I got some wonderful news. My next wisdom tooth is coming in. Very soon I am going to be in a world of pain. I am hoping I can hold off getting it taken care of until next month. We shall see.

The notion that McCain has all but given up on serious contention for President is pretty evident in the media and blogosphere lately. Of course, you could say that the media and the Internet are liberal and fawning over him, but I think the rest of us are seeing some signs of white flag waiving, from his campaign abandoning Michigan to his average performance in both debates.
It has been suggested that in economic times, and post-war times like these, the Democrats have the upper hand in elections. The Great Depression, Vietnam, the first Gulf War, it seems to be a trend for conservatives to drop the country into the water, liberals to drag it back out, get lazy, and do it all over again. Part of that cycle of government is why I don't favor either party, and why I find flaw in the major two-party system in this country. Sure you have The Green Party, Libertarians, Ross Perot (cause he's like some kinda one-man losing streak) but you pretty much have to sign up one way or another to become an elected official, where being a voter, you can align however you want and vote whichever side you want.
The last eight years of Bush have done little to help the lower and middle classes, aside from tax cuts and stimulus checks, but that was probably his JUST AS PLANNED agenda, as is the tried and true agenda of the Republican party, let the market, and the people, run themselves. It works, most of the time. But I'm under the impression that free market capitalism, like communism, simply has trouble working because of human nature. Humans love socialism-style policy because it makes them feel at-ease about their situation, or it allows them to be lazy and complacent with what they have, like federal welfare. Human nature wants to be free market, no government to interfere, but people are greedy, people have pride and strive to do more, and people desire wealth, and many people will lie, cheat, steal, and pander others to get it. Economics and psychology probably have a lot in common, and sadly my armchair analysis of it will probably only scratch the surface, someone who has studied one or the other (or both) might put this together better than I.
I was hoping that in the final weeks of this election, the McCain campaign would unveil the real deal, the meat of his policy, and really make this election, my first vote, something really worth deciding over. Sadly he has done little but rehash the same tired worn out "mavericky" lines and sling mud. I just don't see him as anything short of what we've already seen in The White House.
Besides, everytime I think of Maverick I think of Top Gun, and McCain is no Tom Cruise control for cool. He isn't even a Scientologist!

technically my library books were due today. It's still today; if I drop them in the night slot, and the library is closed tomorrow, will I still have to pay the fine?
*sigh* Oh well, I'll drop them off tomorrow when I'm down that way, and pay next time I go in.

Yesterday, I decided to treat myself to a pre-birthday lunch at Applebee's with the Cowboy Burger (yes, they even put an onion ring and 2 different cheeses on the burger) and a Strawberry Shortcake shooter dessert.
This morning at work, it was business as usual, and didn't want to make a big announcement about me turning 48 today. After, I went to F.Y.E. and picked up 2 pre-owned anime DVD's for 20% off because it was my birthday; Burst Angel Vol. 1 (I got for $9.60 after the discount) and Mahou Tsukai Tai aka Magic Users Club Vol. 6 (I got for $8.80 after the discount).
At home, I was greeted to a dinner of linguine and meatballs, the dinner I requested. I was just hungry for pasta. I even went to Rita's before it officially closes and got a strawberry Gelati.
Overall, a very low key but satisfying birthday. Now, I have to go pick up a birthday present for our pet Leslie. She turned 11 just two days ago.
Oh, and Nekocon is only a few weeks away. Can't wait for that.

Good job, Amanda
Sometime during the day I opened the fridge, but managed to not close it all the way..
So my fridge hasn't been sealed all day and all of stuff is probably no good now.
Great job, Manda

And I'm no good at sewing.
And I'm not photogenic. at all. Although how my skin usually reflects the flash making me look like I glow in the dark usually cracks me up. It's that and/or I have possessed eyes.
Tell me how I got into this whole 'cosplay' thing again?
I guess I do just like playing dress-up, and without many special events to go to this gives me a reason to.
Dunno what I'm doing for Halloween this year. Suggestions?
I was going to try and throw together a belldandy costume to wear to Zenkaikon next weekend, since I'll at least be going to the dance probably because of the Scottish dancing musicians that will be there. Should be entertaining. I hadn't actually thought about it, I should probably go right there from work. That'd save me 45 mins of driving. hm.
I'm gonna go wash the prettyness off my face now. xD

Since you're in the future and all and I haven't talked to you since you left. T_T Hope you have an amazing day! ^_^
And I knew I was forgetting someone else's, so happy belated bday to sneakymexican! And whoever else's birthday occurred in the past two weeks that I've missed, I think there was one other person. T_T One of these days I'll have it all written down in one place so I'll know.
