Jo
I dont think we are going to see Jo again!!

Why has no one made the slightest mention of where Ellen and Jo are and what's happening to them? They weren't killed off or explained off, and it just doesn't seem logical that Bobby, Dean, and Sam would just forget all about them, especially after Ellen's involvement in the Season 2 ending. — AriGato
Kripke:
As far as Jo goes, I don't know why they would mention her, because I feel we concluded her story fairly elegantly in Season 2. Dean left her at the bar, she was going to continue to hunt on her own, and she knew, with melancholy, that he was never going to call her again. She was older, sadder, wiser. End of story.

Wow, thanks for screwing over one of the best characters on the show just because some slash fangirls had a freakfest.

I so agree with you.

I'm surprised the fandom isn't lashing out at Ruby and Bela as much. Why Jo?

I'd actually like Ruby if I wasn't so bitter about her basically replacing Jo.

What a bastard. D: (Okay, I know I can't pass personal judgment based on this, but I am not pleased with this revelation.)

And I agree with the above poster-- I've often wondered why Ruby and Bela are being taken better by the fandom than Jo was. A lot of anti-Jo boards say they thought she was "forced" but in my opinion, Bela's character is extremely one-dimensional, and Ruby only recently became less pointless as a character. Maybe because Jo was brought in with the show execs more-or-less outrightly saying she was meant to be a love interest for Dean, which raised hackles before she even showed up on-screen.

When this interview broke out I was very, very sad about it.
Anyhow it's been a few days and I've pretty much drained myself thinking and talking about this, so I'm just gonna copy paste my thoughts on the matter from my FanForum posts regarding this.
They are coherent enough, they pretty much cover me on the matter and I really don't have the energy to reword it all (as I said coming to grasp with the fact that we'll probably won't be seeing Jo ever again: Draining).

- I still love Kripke because he gives me this really great show.
However, I don't like how he treated Jo or how he talks about her.

I get the "mea culpa" sentiment over the things that didn't work... I do! (even though I am getting tired of mentioning of all the things that went wrong with Jo when he defends the new girls)
As much as I love Jo I did see problems with her (problems I'm seeing with both new girls BTW, even thought The Powers That Be have obvioulsy put more thought into those two....)

What I don't like is the way he discounts Jo's potential. It was there and I think they merely didn't exploit it enough.

To quote Kripke himself

(By the end of BUaBS) She was older, sadder, wiser.

Exactly!! Which finaly made her truly interesting with depth and gave her a whole fresh starting point.
Ditching and dissing the character after such a huge step towards something that worked is just silly.
And if he intends to bring back Ellen and never mention Jo again? Well that is also silly....

But that is a misdemeanor in his part... the show in it's whole is far too good to hold this against him.
I just hope he re-evaluates and bring her back for an eppy or two at some point.

After all I don't get why the boys can't bump into her since she's hunting.
I mean they've met up with all these other random hunters. Why can't Jo be one of those too?

*Is utterly shocked* What the...? That made me very upset :(. She was such a good character, I don't understand why he'd let her go and bring in Bela. As for Ruby, she's okay my book...But Bela?! I really think he should bring her back, even if it's just for one episode. :(

See, I just started getting into Dean/Jo and I was disappointed when I saw this interview. Yeah, Jo has grown up, but I also feel that Dean has grown as a person, too. She knew he wouldn't call, but he should have grown up and actually called her. I was really disappointed in this. Hopefully, Jo will be back in season 4...but if not, we can still live in the lovely world of fanfic :)
