AboutThe Dead Nation is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel: the series RPG. It takes place post the series finale of both. Angel was defeated by the Senior Partners, Buffy has been living in room, but a tragedy on a global scale is enough to pull her out of retirement and back into action...
The Plot
The time is now.
Several years have passed since the collapse of Sunnydale and the Scoobies scattered across the globe to find and take in the emerging slayers. Buffy, no longer the sole bearer of the chosen’s responsibilities has been resting easy in the home she and Dawn have built themselves in the Roman countryside. Under her guidance and the careful planning of Giles, the Slayers have mobilized themselves into an international police force for the world of the supernatural.
Things in LA did not turn out so well. The battle in the alley behind the Hyperion ended in the complete and utter defeat of the Angel Investigations Team, the lone survivor of the massacre being Illyria, who was quickly contained and taken to an underground laboratory/holding facility, where she has been kept heavily sedated and under lock and key by the members of Wolfram & Hart. With Angel out of the picture, W&H swiftly moved through the city, setting up a shadow government of control, and now covertly use the city as a command center. Without adversity, Wolfram & Hart has run unopposed and currently are in a holding pattern waiting for the next step toward their plans for apocalypse.
The world had been peaceful, and no major evil has occurred, and those evils that still exist had been silent.
Until now.
When the sun rises over a small city in upper Michigan to find every single last one of its residents dead in their homes, the American government scrambles to quarantine off the city and get to the bottom of this massive tragedy. When the government discovers what appears to be occult evidence with a heavy indication of magicks being utilized, they fear a grave situation, when the dead residents start rising again…they fear the worst. The government quickly mobilizes a unit of the Demonic Research Initiative to safeguard the city. No one in, no one out.
With the city contained, but still highly dangerous, the Initiative commander in charge, Riley Finn, places a call to Buffy in Rome, hoping that her resources can help get to the bottom of the incident. Joined by a small contingent of Slayers and the several of her old friends, Buffy travels back to America not only to solve the mystery, but also help contain the zombie threat.
Elsewhere, at the exact moment an entire city is discovered dead, Illyria awakens, and makes a desperate bid to escape from within Wolfram & Hart’s stronghold, even as the law firm itself dispatched its own team to investigate the situation in Michigan.
Meanwhile, in an asylum several cities away in from the site of the disaster, Ash, a patient with a history of violence, overhears the news concerning the city in question, and stabs a guard in an hysteric attempt to escape. As he is drug back into captivity, he alone knows the truth, and may be the Scoobies only link to solving the mystery.
Is this just a zombie outbreak, or is there something bigger going on?
The only thing that is certain is blood, guts, and gore.
…and for the Slayer and her crew, that’s merely the beginning.
The Rules of the Game
A. Posting once a week is required. Posting every other day is preferred. If something comes up that prevents you from meeting this requirement, please let me know so that we can work something out. If you're going on vacation or out of town, let us know. Sporadic posting is not cool.
B. In your posts to the game, remember these things: proper grammar and punctuation are sexy and spell check is your friend. There will be no chatspeak here of any kind. We speak in the King's English, unless you can justify having specialty spellings
C. There is an OOC community: Final Repose It's for anything out of character. Questions, reminders, plot ideas, inter-character planning... Please use this and watch it for any updates about the game.
D. Remember, that while this is just a game, respect is something that must be in play at all times. You can't kill, hurt, maim, beat up someone's character without talking to them first. And you can't kill off your own character without talking to me first, because it could affect the entire game and other characters.
E. Previous characters, that aren't dead, are welcome to join the game, as long as their backstory makes sense and they fit into the game.
F. Original characters ARE acceptable: new Slayers, Initiative members, and others are all welcome and needed, as this is post-timeline era.
G. If you want to leave the game, let me know so I have time to replace you and so the game won't stall.

I. This is NOT a crossover journal. I realize that Ash is a character from Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead, but that's such an obscure reference to a film that is never RPed, and the story was tailored to include him, cause I always thought it would be fun to RP as the character. Otherwise, no crossovers, as they make things difficult and just mess with the community vibes cause people aren't sure how to react. Treat Ash as an OC.
