Not exactly sure if this is allowed, but I figured I'd make a post...
The Genesis Awards, which began as a fanfiction awards for Final Fantasy VII fiction that's a step above the rest, is now accepting nominations for FFX fic as well. I'm an admin over there (You can find me under the penname T. Costa) and I was wholly upset with the lack of FFX fic in general, and Aurikku in particular.
The Genesis Awards has specific criteria for nominated fic. After our nominations close for the year (December 31) our Preliminary Readers will go through and ascertain that the fics that are nominated adhere to the grammatical standards of either Great Britain or the United States. After they finish the Preliminary Reading, we will release our official list of nominees for the 2009-2010 awards season and our judges will begin the process of picking winners. Judges grade based on things like voice, dialog, correct punctuation and spelling, plot, coherence, consistency, originality, et cetera.
If you know of any good FFX fic - obviously, I'm biased and want more Aurikku but anything really goes - that deserves an award, please go check out the Genesis Awards. You can visit our website at www.genesisawards.net, or nominate on the forums, located at http://genesisawards.net/forums/
We could also use volunteers for Preliminary Readers or Judges, but mostly, I just want more fic! :)

You can delete this if it's not allowed, but I just wanted to say that the Ship Manifesto community is having a Pairing Tournament, and Yuffentine is currently LOSING against Jiraiya/Tsunade! Come on guys, let's all head on over there and show them who's boss!

Hello! I'm a new member to this society!
I'm an avid worshipper of all things Yuffie x Vincent, and am not far off in worshipping all that is Rikku x Auron.
I'm not a particularly good writer, but I am at least half-confident in my ability to draw. So I've got that.

Heya guys!!
Since request are allowed, I think I will settle on this community to place mine. I am one of those people who needs every pairing I write to have an icon of its own, but the fic I'm writing right now does not have an icon, and I cannot find one. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so graphics I like are hard to come by. I know there are a lot of really talented people in this community, however, so I would really appreciate any help.
I'm looking for a Rikku/Auron icons (FFX). No words, well manipulated, characters from the game (not fan-art), and I don't care whether it's the Rikku from the first or second game. :) I don't have any particular images that I love and can offer you, but I think THIS is an amazing picture of Rikku, as well as THIS ONE, of course. And the pictures where Auron has his sleeve down are ones I like too (like this one), but any pic of Auron would do perfectly.
I would greatly appreciate any help. As I usually do it, the person who makes me the icon I adopt gets the story dedicated to him/her. :) It's the only payment I can offer. This would be my first story with the pairing and the fandom, so it's kind of a big deal.

WELCOME TO THE OFFICE
The Office is a multi-billion dollar company that somehow has managed to tap the market of many universes to pull itself to number one. The Company (The name being The Company seeing as the head of the marketing department [who passed away] saw it fit to name it something simple so that people would aways say in conversation 'What is the name of The Company where Jimmy works?' and they already knew the answer giving them a slight boost in ego) produces everything, sometimes good in nature, sometimes bad. Everything is always good business. Competition for the top spots are fierce, the positions filled with prestige, the interoffice drama thick with suspicion, tension, betrayal and perhaps even love?
Do you have what it takes to make it at The Office?
HOW TO PLAY
The entire premise of the game is that the characters you apply for are in an alternate universe- meaning that your characters have a different canon than presented in their fandom/series. Somehow, through some method (be it word of mouth, checking your e-mail, letter in a bottle, sea turtles - anything) you heard about this company, and seeing it as an opportunity, you decide to join. You submit your resume and you are brought here (if accepted).

There's a great, relatively-new Wiki out in that big ol' internet, one that is attempting to collect information about fandoms and their fen. Being an insane helpful person, I decided to start an article about the Aurikku fandom and all you wonderful people that make it up. ;) And then, because I love punishment, I started an article about Yuffentine.
I've only recently joined the Yuffentine fandom, so I'm not really suited for the job of chronicling the major events, but I'm going to give it the old college try. Pease, if you remeber specific dates, important websites and fans, or have any story recommendations, leave me a comment. Or, better yet, add your information directly to the article.
Here are the things I'm currently looking for:
- Big name fans Who do you consider important fans? What did they do to help the fandom?
- Important fanfiction What stories do you consider important? I've listed Gabi-hime's "Shape of His Heart" and Guardian1's "Sunshine in Winter," but I need more. Which stories are the oldest? Anyone know when the *first* Aurikku and Yuffentine stories were published? Also, anyone know the original publish date for "Soldier of Spira"?
- Kerfluffes Were there ever any fights within the Yuffentine fandom?
- Websites Are there any important websites out there?
Here are the two articles: Aurikku and Yuffentine. See how puny they are? Doesn't the fact that they're so short and lame make you want to start researching?

Memento Vivere
I can't even begin to say how fabulous this fic is - it's by Enkida, who is fairly famous in the Yuffentine fandom to say the least, and this is that rarest of objects - a time-travelling Rikku fic that actually WORKS. And how it works. This may have actually been recc'd before here, but it's worth another go, because it is way wonderful.
And her Rikku is hilarious. There's so much to say that I can't even begin to say it. Just read. It's unfinished, so leave gushing reviews to make her write more (but gently, she's on a hiatus lately).

I'm restarting the challenges here in hopes of reviving our poor, dead community. These were started as fanfic challenges (and that is still the preferred medium) but since we don't seem to have as many writers here, fanart or icons/avatars will both be accepted.
And now some quick notes on how the challenges will run:
There will be one challenge theme each week (or whenever the new challenge goes up) that is couple specific, this is the main challenge. We will also be providing two sets of lyrics/lines from two songs that will act as optional themes. For the lyrics, you can choose what couple you want to write.
I'm not going to demand that you do the main challenge first before taking up the optional ones. Do it if inspiration strikes you, doing either of the optional themes first/last/only is also fine. Just pick whatever theme grabs you, sound good?
Responses or links to responses go in the comments section of this post and, while I'm not insisting that you do, it is always nice to respond to other people's works.
I'm not doing a rules section here. We should all know how to play nice by now.
