Some interesting news out of Warner Brothers I read today in the WSJ this weekend.
I'll sum up.
*JLA movie - don't look for it soon
*Batman vs. Superman - same with this. We can all thank Superman Returns for this, class.
*Future movies- 8 by 2011 that follow Marvel's playbook of introducing characters, then combining them. All will have the same brooding tone of Dark Knight.
Like the recent Batman sequel -- which has become the highest-grossing film of the year thus far -- Mr. Robinov wants his next pack of superhero movies to be bathed in the same brooding tone as "The Dark Knight." Creatively, he sees exploring the evil side to characters as the key to unlocking some of Warner Bros.' DC properties. "We're going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it," he says. That goes for the company's Superman franchise as well.
The next 3 years will see at least a Superman movie, a Batman movie and 2 other unnameds. Maybe more.
*Superman - Returns didn't happen, time for a reboot. Superman Begins or something..
