Lesley Continuing Education Seminars and Workshops

Hello, Everybody!

I work in the Office of Continuing Education at Lesley and would like to promote our fall offerings. Here are links to our online catalog and if anyone is interested, our registration form.

The categories for our seminars are found in the left hand margin of our online catalog site: Arts Offerings, Writing Offerings, Professional Development Offerings, and Thematic Explorations. Examples of specific seminars offered this fall, among others, include Mastering Adobe Photoshop, The Contemporary Poetic Voice, Intro to Photography: Finding Your Creative Vision, Intermediate Watercolor, Career Decision Making Workshop: Obstacles and Strategies, and our Mid-Winter Travel Study Course in Tepoztlan, Mexico.

I'd also like to ask for suggestions on other places to leave our catalog. So far, the following businesses have agreed to have our catalog available for customers: Hodgkins' Spa (Ray's), Dave's Fresh Pasta, Mr. Crepe, Magpie, Anna's Taqueria, Diesel, Downtown Wine and Spirits, Magpie, Porter Square Books, Spark, Shaw's and McIntyre and Moore's.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to post in response or to call our office and speak to me at (617) 349-8609.

Thank you!

- Olivia

I had left one at the Somerville Theatre for the manager to look over before leaving more and did not hear back. Perhaps a bit more follow up on my part there then...

The others are also great suggestions - thank you! :)

Oh neat, I didn't know Lesley offered such courses to the public. I see the tuition fees listed on the courses, but I don't see any mention of textbooks and supplies. Would it be common for the art/photography courses to require the student to buy/bring their own supplies or is this included in the tuition?

Also what is parking like on campus in the evenings?

Great questions! You are exactly right - for the art/photography courses the students do bring their own supplies/equipment. As for materials needed, I know that the instructors will either contact the students beforehand or wait until the first day of class to distribute a list. If it is the latter, then students are encouraged to bring the materials/equipment that they already have for the first class and go from there.

It depends on the class as far as what reading might be required, though anyone taking a writing class for credit will have required texts. For all other courses, if reading is required, the instructor will provide the reading or we recommend students get the texts on Amazon.

Parking on campus can be tricky, so we usually recommend taking public transit to Porter. For drivers, there is a parking lot behind University Hall with the following rates:
0.0 - 1.0 hrs = $1
1.5 - 2.5 hrs = $2
1.5 - 2.5 hrs w/store receipt over $10 = $1
2.5 - 3.5 hrs = $8
2.5 - 3.5 hrs w/store receipt over $10 = $4
3.5 - 8.0 hrs = $15
3.5 - 8.0 hrs w/store receipt over $50 = $8
8.0 + hrs = $30

Hope this helps! :)
