Be careful driving tonight, lots of flooding
Powderhouse Flood
(Harvard Street at 5 PM today)

Harvard street off of Powderhouse Square is pretty much impassable right now unless you have a really tall pickup truck. (One of the two cars in the picture was stuck.) It's flooded further down in Medford as well. So if you are planning to go to the Everett Mall or Assembly Square from Davis, you might want to pick a different route.

Just wanted to warn folks. It could be pretty dangerous coming off of the Powderhouse Circle without realizing this and having to turn around I think.

oh is that medford street? I thought it was labeled harvard street there... it seems to change names though.

Harvard St. in South Medford becomes Warner St. for the block or two in Somerville it takes to get to Powderhouse.

Medford St runs from Tufts Park in South Medford, across Somerville, joins McGrath Highway, and heads off to East Cambridge.

Where incidentally, it goes under the same kind of bridge, and im sure driving there was no picnic tonight either.

I was on an Orange Line shuttle bus coming back from Malden, after I made the mistake of trying to attend St. Rocco's Festa in Edgeworth. The amount of flood water our bus went through was quite impressive.

Maybe if it stays like that I'll have an excuse not to drive to work tomorrow. Thanks for the update. I'm absolutely amazed by the amount of heavy rain we've been having lately.

Yeah, my friend and I went through that on our way to the Asgard, I think. We took a different route back.

Prospect was also quite flooded, somewhere between Webster and Cambridge. It looked quite similar to the Harvard St. picture above. I had to U turn and take another route around 6:30 pm.

Wow. We were coming home just shortly before that, saw that underpass, and made a hasty turn elsewhere.

In fact, stay off of Harvard St in general. The people from the neighborhood DO NOT appreciate the cut through traffic and the city government is to busy with .....ahh, what do they do again? Anyway please find another route.

Wow! Why don't you petition the city government to close the street so my tax dollars stop paying for a street I'm apparently not allowed to use?

WOW.

WOW, in case you were unaware your tax dollars are paying for a plethora of inappropriate things.....given the lack of traffic regulation and road maintenience Harvard St use is not one of them.

I'm sorry, I just find it incredibly offensive that you feel you have a right to tell me where I can and cannot drive within my own city.

In either case, being a jerk on livejournal isn't going to help your cause.
