So, David Tennant: The Millport Years - and this excerpt comes courtesy of Creamguide (Films)-cum-latter day Gamma Garments supremo Chris Diamond: "He visited every year for, ooooh about four or five years, as part of the Church of Scotland Summer Mission. We had a holiday house in Millport - which isn't nearly as grand as it sounds - and the Summer Mission would stay in the old East Parish Church which was unused since the two parishes that used to be on the island got merged into one and took over the nicer church on Bute Terrace. David's Dad is (or was) a former Moderator of the Church of Scotland, and he was quite involved in all this churching-up of junior holidaymakers.

"The Summer Mission was essentially an open-air (usually) youth club that gave kids on holiday the chance to a) take part in games and things and, b) be brainwashed into being Protestants. They held an open-air service in the mornings on Newton sands with singing and bible-reading and all that shit, and then games in the afternoon. Now, our living room windows looked over the front yard of the East Church. My sister Emma would go to the Mission everyday, much to the consternation of my Gran, who looked after us since we're Catholics.

In any case, in order to drum up business David used to climb up to our window and shout on her to get her to come. He'd chat away with me while she got ready. I never went 'cos I'm going to hell, but he was a nice enough guy - though he usually refused me and my mate's requests to chip in for 10 Club and a bottle of Thunderbird up the back of the Garrison, preferring instead evenings of prayer and frowning. Still, as I say he was pleasant enough, and I used to get him up the road on the train the odd time. He would knock about with his mate Colin, who's now in the band Mull Historical Society. Yes, Newton beach was like Junior Startime in those days."

Also added at the end of the article was that THe awards ceremony was to be held in Dundee next year, now is it just me or do they normally invite the previous years winners to present awards at ceremonies like this??

I don't recall seeing this posted before. Everyone seems quite optomistic about the whole thing, though there's a few people who slate Eccleston in the letters pages for leaving....

Not too much we didn't know already, I don't think. But it's a rather lovely picture of him :)

Edit: Is anyone else surrounded by Casanova posters whenever they go anywhere? The London Underground's insane, there's about 6-8 per any given route through a zone 1 station. I wonder what they'll do with them all.......
