and most importantly: they EACH chose their own coronation song from the top 10 highest vote-getters in the songwriting contest! \o/ [i'm hoping he has "no turning back" (my fave) or "something like heaven."]

nigel said they could either re-do something or do something new. i would kind of think DC would want to do a new song if he could, but who knows? the only song nigel announced was "imagine" for archie.

This is great news. I think DC could actually make something good out of "Something Like Heaven", which has been floating around on YouTube recently as a possibility for him.

God, I hope the Jonas Brothers are not considered "the biggest star in the world"...

This is really great news! It's always so awful to hear that coronation song twice in one night. And with the judges comparing the to one another it was even worse haha. I felt so bad for Blake last year.

I think Cookie should do a reprise too. Not that I wouldn't LOVE a new song, but I think it'd be a risky move considering Archie is doing Imagine.

Doing Imagine twice is COMPLETELY stupid. It's gonna be compared to the previous preformance and it will take away from the 'magic' of the original preformance.

Why do I have a feeling that if Cook were to do a reprise, it would be ABMB? He sang that during his homecoming and knows how popular it is.

I'm glad Cook gets to choose a coronation song also. Hopefully will make it his own?

I disagree. I think that Cookie is smart enough not to try to recapture the moment of ABMB. Yes it's incredibly popular, but I think that it's SO popular that people will be comparing it (consciously or not) to the original performance. He would have to change it up and/or knock it out of the park to make people think it's better than his first performance.

As much as I'd love to hear "Hello" again, I think Cookie should do something new. Reprising a song is really hard. I don't think that Cookie would try to repeat the "magic" of Billie Jean or ABMB.

Separate coronation songs that THEY get to pick makes me the happiest I've been in ages! (Well, that's not completely true, but I'm still SUPER happy.)

I WAS HOPING they would get to pick their own coronation songs. No joke, I was thinking that based on EW's assessment of the 20 coronation songs, and the fact that according to EW, only two were any good (possibly the two you mentioned in your post? I can't remember), the only way that both Davids would do well would be with separate songs, and I was hoping they would each get to pick their own so neither would get thrown under the bus (*coughKATHARINEMCPHEEMYDESTINYcough*) cause as much as I want DC to win, I don't want them to throw DA under the bus to get DC to win because that's cheating on the producer's parts if you ask me. That and I have a soft spot for the kid. I also OBVIOUSLY don't want DC thrown under the bus. My point is that as much as I want DC to win, I also want a fair contest, not one that is OBVIOUSLY tilted in favor of one or the other.

I sort of hope David does something new, honestly. As awesome as it would be to hear a reprise, I just think I'd like to hear something new more. "SOMEBODY LIKE YOU" BY KEITH URBAN PLZKTHX

Ramble time! \o/

The only song I would want DCook to reprise is "Hello". He would probably be able to do a longer version with the orchestra, which could potentially be even more kickass than his original performance of that song. I mean, I could see why ABMB or Billie Jean would be considered for a reprise, but I feel like those were so recent, they wouldn't be nearly as great as they were the first time. "Hello", on the other hand, was way back in the Top 16, and he could give it an even fresher perspective.

The news about the coronation songs is BADASS. The mesh of nerves in my stomach has lightened up a bit. But only a pathetically small bit.

As far as Clive giving them songs, I'm not particularly worried about that -- the producers' pick last week suited DCook wonderfully, and I have no doubt Clive will make smart choices. At this point, they have such a good Final Two, and there's no reason to "sabotage" either of the contestants by giving them a crappy song.

And finally, who the hell is the biggest star in the world?

oh, i probably should've been clearer in my post - they'll most likely be singing with already-established artists, like in S5 when elliott sang with mary j blige and daughtry sang with live. i'm thinking cook might get our lady peace, altho my fantasy is kelly clarkson. :D

Well, obviously I'm not surprised Archie's going to be safe and boring and sing a song he sang already! I think Cookie knows way better than that, and will take the risk of singing something else, along the lines of Baba O'Riley, with a slow and fast tempo mixed in.

I'm thinking the biggest star is Madonna? Isn't her album like #1, worldwide? So that would make her the biggest... my first thought was Leona Lewis, but if I have to unwillingly listen to her sing that song again... my heart will bleed. :)

That is good about them each picking a song, so both of them will actually pick a song they like and want to perform, which is nice. I actually saw on some other forums or boards something about him doing the Collective Soul song, that'd be cool. My Hero would also be cool to hear on the show since he was going to do it.
