Contribute to Datapool

Datapool is an experimental "ransom note" comic. Instead of taking the traditional route of drawing comics, I've decided to base it on more of a collage method to assemble pages. Photos, scans, drawings (only my own), textures, patterns and whatever useable visuals I can find. I take them into photoshop, butcher the fuck out of them, redraw portions, crop, rotate.. you get the idea. I manipulate found images and combine it with my drawing skills to create a cohesive sequential story.

As such, I will constantly be on the lookout for visual tidbits that can possibly be used in pages. Due to the nature of the method I'm choosing to use, I'm trying to stick to my own photography, images that I have or can get permission to use and resources distrubuted under a free-use liscence. I will also be making every effort to give credit to the resources I use. But in order to create the best comic I can in this mehtod, it's good to have as large a resource as possible to aid me. This is where you come in.

If you'd like to contribute your photos/scans/textures to be used in Datapool, it would be greatly appreciated!

Contribution Guidelines:
1. It must be a photograph/scan that YOU have taken and hold ownership over.
2. Large, raw, unaltered, high-res photographs/scans are preffered. As I plan to print Datapool one day, I work large and need good quality material to work with.
3. Please keep the image size no higher than 2megs
4. Accepted file types are .jpg, .gif, .png, .tif

Credit *will* be given and documented here to submitted photos and scans should it be used.

Acceptable Subject Matter:
Just about anything!(But no pron. Please don't send me pron. Or anything that would be classified as illegal.) Mostly, I'm looking for backgrounds and interesting textures, particularly city scapes and industrial sorts of scenery but just about subject matter will do! Send me whatever random thing you happen to have lying around, even blurred photos, photos that didn't develop properly, that got scratched-up, torn whatever. Photos of people/with people in them are fine, but all faces will be edited/blurred to avoid stepping out of bounds on invading anyone's privary or desires about being seen in such a project.

Notes/Examples: Do not send me completed drawings/paintings/artwork, even if it is yours. Do not send graphics/banners/etc created in MS Paint or scans of things like cd cover art. However, if you want to send me a photo of your crumpled socks, that's fine. A scan of your homework that the dog chewed up or that got jelly splattered all over it, also fine! All the doodles and scribblings you did during class to keep yourself entertained, fine! ^^

Submit Your Images:
Simply attach the images and send them to the.datapool[AT]gmail.com (Replace [AT] with @). Please include your name/alias with the image for crediting purposes and any additonal note about the image that are relevant.

By submiting images to the above email, you grant me the permission to use, manipulate and alter it in any way I see fit. You will reatain ownership and be credited for providing the source material. Submitting an image does not garuntee it will be used in the comic. I Do not garuntee they'll be reconizable after I'm done with them.

Thank you!
