Formae Passivae Verbi Esse [Jul. 4th, 2009|05:38 pm]

"Formae Passivae Verbi Esse"
"Passive Forms of the Verb Esse"

I have been thinking of what the passive forms of the Latin verb esse might be.

Some are likely to point out that these forms would not have any real meaning, and while they might be right, I am more interested in the morphology of these hypothetical forms than in their possible or impossible meanings.

Eheh. Looking at my last post, I realize just how long it's been since I poked at the tedious process of trimming down video clips in Windows Movie Maker. I had to convert the movie .. I think it converted to some sort of cell phone video setting because I wasn't paying attention, but hey it works now. I have to select parts I want to delete in the beginning to find the starting point of the clip, then delete from the end until I can find where I wanted the clip to stop. This would go much faster if I could just watch the movie in WMM, then pause, highlight, copy and paste what I want into a new section or whatever.

I've been staying up late, until 6-7am and not getting up until around 3pm. This sort of works for me, as I like driving home from work at night when there's hardly any traffic. It seems to have caught up with me though, because last night I was tired around 2 and actually went to bed about 3.

I don't know what it was that woke me up this morning, but shortly afterward I got a call from Care Credit, the company that allows me to get my dental work done and then pay it off monthly. I hadn't realized I'd missed a payment in May and since I got squat for a first paycheck I really couldn't afford it in June, either. I made a token $10 payment, hoping that previous payments I've been making would I dunno, carry over? I'm supposed to have a minimum payment of $20, but have been paying $50 until recently. Apparently it doesn't carry over, because I got a call basically wanting to know when they were going to get their $98 or so that is my current due to stay in good standing.

It's left up in the air for now, because though I waited to speak to a real person, not much was done at all because said person said "Hello?" and immediately hung up on me.

At least I got called into work tonight. I wonder if I get time and a half pay.

Well, maybe not, but look:

Teacher Gives Sex Tape To 5th Graders On DVD

A local teacher accidentally put pornography into a DVD that was meant to be filled with school memories from the past year, and nobody caught the error until after it was sent home, shocking parents and students alike.

LOL!

"Maybe offer some sort of counseling for my children, ask me how my children are doing," he said. "I want somebody to ask me the kind of questions my kids are asking me."

Translation: "Sex is bad, mmkay?"

OTMA Mori Debuerunt?! [Jul. 3rd, 2009|04:55 am]

"OTMA Mori Debuerunt?!"
"OTMA Had to Die?!"

Here is an interesting thread:

should anastasia and her siberlings have died

And this post is sicking:

Sadly, my mom thinks they deserved it. I asked her why, and she said, "They lived in such luxury that I can't feel sorry for them about anything. And I'll bet those kids were never punished for anything they did." I told her that it wasn't as wonderful as she thought. Yes, it was very luxurious, but I mentioned that they slept in camp cots, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia got hand me down clothes from Olga, and they got a small allowance in which they were expected to give some to charity. They were also punished for things they did wrong. My mom still kept her opinion. But even if their beds had been made of gold, they never got punished, and got new clothes everyday, they still wouldn't have deserved death.

Frankly, the opinions of that person's mother are just as vile and disgusting as those of the murderers' themselves: OTMA's crime was being born into a life of luxury, therefore they deserved to be slaughtered like animals, and have their acid-stained corpses dumped into a random pit in a forest.

Billy Mays: A Great American [Jul. 2nd, 2009|04:45 pm]

mister_neil
[Tags|, , ]

I was going to write a lengthy rant called "1UP's Garnett Lee is a Nintendo-Dick-Sucking Pussy", but when I do rants, I have to get them out before I run out of steam. As inane as the last episode of ListenUP was, I just didn't have it in me to get all my hatred into text. Maybe next time. As long as he keeps using meaningless industry terms like "casual" and "hardcore", as if they actually mean something, or claiming that casual gamers ARE the hardcore gamers, I'm sure a rant is inevitable.

The problem is, I kept drifting off into a rant about motion controls, and that really had very little to do with what ticked me off. It really had more to do with Garnett getting on his soap box and shouting down to his caricature of game critics.

Instead of what would have been a beautifully pejorative-heavy hatefest, I'm just going to post this thing that someone sent me on YouTube. It's Billy Mays going through the drive-thru at McDonald's. I swear, this guy was never off the clock. If this doesn't show you guys what a loss this is, then nothing will. Nobody who enjoys life this much deserves to die so young.
You dodged a bullet this time, Garnett.
