This community is dedicated to darkfics and angstfics and like artwork based on the television shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

So what is a darkfic or angstfic you ask?

The btvs_fictionary defines it as follows - serious fic which deals with the negative, terrifying, or "dark" aspects of a character's personality or of a particularly traumatizing event or situation. Please note, angstfic can but does not necessarily fall into this category and darkfic DOES NOT necessarily imply an unhappy ending.

Angstfic is similar - a fic dealing with strong uncomfortable emotions, particularly anxiety/fear/tension about a relationship, event, or situation. An angstfic is any that highlights such emotion as a major part of the plot regardless of whether this angst is resolved by the end of the story or not.

So, what can you share here, you ask? Buffy/Angel based works of a dark or angsty nature. Fanfic, drabbles, ficlets, episodic fanfic, poetry, challenges and the responses thereof, drawings, photo manipulations, LJ icons, screencaps, links to favorite works, and self pimpage as long as it meets with dark and angsty. If you're not sure something should be shared with the community, ask me via email ( melodictears81@netscape.net ) before posting. Chances are it'll be fine.

You're shy??? Get over it. I did! I strongly encourage participation and will reward it with goodies. I know it can seem safer remaining a lurker but take a chance, give in to your inner darkness. I do hold hope that everyone remains mature in their posts though I will step in if something is deemed off topic or a personal attack.

DarkVerse Rules

You should be 18 or older to join. The main reason for this restriction is my undying hope that pure, unadulterated smut and/or violence will overflow the pages of this community. I make no apologies for content posted within.
No Flames.
This community is dedicated to make you squirm, cry, gasp, shudder, and other disturbed emotional reactions. Any and all relationships are welcomed, even the ones you might not care for. My hope is that this will become the place where the impossible becomes possible and the unconventional conventional. If any ships give you serious wiggins, you may want to heed warnings carefully. Please avoid posting the "eeeeiiiwwww" reaction. They are a waste of precious feedback space and quite frankly, lack art.
Please post clear ratings and use LJ cuts with materials that some may consider to be "questionable" in content or when posting something considered to be "spoilerish" in nature.
Before you post, think of a mother sitting down to her computer and the page that will spring up before her and her five year old son. LJ cuts can spare our fellow community members an early "facts of life" discussion. That being said, as a writer who loves shocking the audience and killing off main characters, I despise warnings in the headings of fic. In my opinion, warnings "give away" important parts of the story. To this effect, even though I prefer no warnings, I will leave it to the discretion of the poster what you include in headings. If you feel the need to warn folks that your fic contains furry!kink, by all means, warn away. I'm just sayin' it isn't always necessary to warn readers that two men might actually *nervous giggle* smooch. *gasp*

Rating: FRAO for violence and sexual situations
Pairing: E/G

Ratings:

FRC - (formerly G/PG) Suitable for anyone. No swearing, only the mildest and most general sexual references and violence. Consider Disney movies a guideline, parental death treated delicately and juvenile humor allowed, but nobody has genitalia and all bodies remain whole.

FRT - (formerly PG-13) Suitable for anyone mature enough to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This covers anything that might be seen in an average episode of the show. Very mild swearing is fine, as is some nudity and moderate violence. Fade-to-black sexuality and frank discussion of sexual concepts is fine.

FRM - (formerly R) Suitable for older teens and adults. Your characters may swear and be crude to their hearts content, have actual sex (though in a less graphic, show-every-pore sense), and get really graphic with their violence. Sensitive subjects such as sexual violence, torture, child abuse, etc. may be discussed frankly.

FRAO - (formerly NC17) Suitable ONLY for mature adults. This is where the extremely graphic sex and Kill Bill level violence live.

This community is crossover friendly.
You wanna write a fic titled, Harry Potter and the Slayer’s Stake? You got it. Just mention in the heading that this is crossover so those who are clueless, such as yours truly, don't get lost.
Feedback Please! This is an extremely important rule. Writers live off of feedback so any and all, even the short "great fic" is appreciated.
