This is an exclusive group by its very nature---loosely, its membership is restricted to people who were active participants in this one newsgroup in the days of yore, or people that those people have met and think a good fit into the group, since the newsgroup has faded into the sunset.
One little rule: If you want to join the group, please along with the Livejournal request, e-mail the maintainer (silmaril at livejournal dot com) with a few words about who you are, other user names I might have seen you under. My own memory for names and alternate names is very, very weak, y'see.
