fell in droves
Thanks to everyone who's been watching and posting this month, it's been a pleasure to see what you've all come up with. The comm will remain open for posting, in case you feel inspired to do so at a later date! Happy halloween, and a final prompt:

He had found what he was looking for in his inside pocket. It seemed to be a silver cigarette lighter. He flicked it open, held it up in the air and clicked it. The nearest streetlamp went out with a little pop. He clicked it again - the next lamp flickered into darkness. Twelve times he clicked the Put-Outer, until the only lights in the whole street were two tiny pinpricks in the distance.

History is the fiction we invent to persuade ourselves that events are knowable and that life has order and direction. That's why events are always reinterpreted when values change. We need new versions of history to allow for our current prejudices.
