Gothla setlist
Gothla last night was brilliant. There was the open stage bit which was dead busy, and I loved the dances done to The Prodigy's 'Omen', and Nine Inch Nails 'The hand that feeds'. Then I got a chance to play a few tunes. Depeche Mode - It's no good Rammstein - Sonne (r) Rotersand - Exterminate, anihilate, destroy VNV nation - Chrome Nine inch nails - Closer Placebo - 36 degrees Combichrist - This is my rifle Covenant - Ritual Noise Ladytron - Destroy everything you touch Chameleons - Swamp thing Panzer AG - Paper angels (r) Stromkern - Stand Up Sisters of Mercy - Dominion (Mother Russia) (br) The Cult - Rain Mission - Deliverance See colin slash - Head hunter 1964
(r) - track request (br) - band requestA great night, thanks again to Rosie for asking me along! Photos to follow later. |

Stuff
Not exactly new news (it's a month old now) but new to me at least: Company plans Open Source hydrogen car. The BBC News article makes this sound incredibly well thought out and I hope to see these things scurrying around cities soon. As someone who drives but not very far these days this kind of run-about would be great. While the weather holds up I'm going to try to keep cycling as often as I can, as it's helping to keep my car use down to a minimum. And this looks interesting for anyone who hacks, prototypes or tinkers: polymorph. Basically this is plastic that can be made like plasticine with the application of heat (hot water or a hair dryer is enough) but will also set completely solid. Apparently this has been available from places like Maplin but the link above is meant to be cheaper. A friend who I don't see very often has recently blogged about keeping up to date with people via twitter, facebook, etc. but missing out on a lot of context, and still finding it hard to have a conversation when you do catch up. Oddly, the last time I caught up with this chap we were in this exact same situation. Unconscious streams of status updates don't tell the whole story, and nothing beats sitting in a pub for an evening and catching up over a few beers. Music wise - a while back Zoog from Angelspit posted a ranty rant about people making excuses for not getting stuff done. It hit a chord with me and most people I know who have got anywhere (or are on their way there) have done so by just going for it and getting stuff done. And it's been linked from elsewhere, but here's a nice post from Trent Reznor about his thoughts on what small/unknown bands should do. While giving your tunes away for free won't be right for everyone, the whole bit about engaging with your fanbase via blogs/twitter/backstage videos is one I hope more bands take onboard. Photography wise, the met have published guidelines to their officers which are incredibly sensible. Lets hope the many reports of photographers being hassled for no reason dwindle now. A comment on Leeds Flickr group mentioned that the guidelines print nicely onto a double sided sheet of A4, handy for popping in your camera bag along with this document on what is and isn't legal. |

Notifications still borked
Okay, I reported to LJ that my notifications weren't working and days later the ticket still has no comments on it. My notifications via email still don't work (well, one message got through once). Now the 'comments' and 'messages' sections are unreliable as well. If I don't reply to a comment you make, now you know why. |

'Cirxus' Photo Album now available to view
The photographs of 'Cirxus', taken by the talented Yiannis Katsaris can now be viewed in our online gallery. Greek by birth, freelance photographer Yiannis has been working in London for over a year. Previously Yiannis was based in Italy working in an advertising studio. He graduated from TEI in Athens with a BA in Photography. He also holds an MA in Photographic Journalism. Currently Yiannis works with national publications in both the UK and Greece. During his career he’s photographed everything from models, environmental disasters, riots and even a pig farm. Though he would say his trickiest assignment was photographing female wrestlers, those ladies take no prisoners. Yiannis is available for short and long term assignments in UK and abroad. www.yianniskatsaris.com |
