Odinga is strill trying to become the President of Kenya. If he does, he will make a law forbidding all public preaching and institute Sharia Law. Bree K. said Odinga has made a pact with satan. Bree K. also said when Obama visited his tribe in '06 and as late as Jan. '08 he went to every elder's home which has a "shrine" inside to worship the genie and asked for their blessing. She was told Obama and Odinga were both "destined" before they were born to be president/leader of their nation. They say "he is the chosen one". She said Obama's grandmother sacrificed a black and a white chicken to the "goddess of the river" so both whites and blacks will vote for Obama. All Islam loves and worships Obama. The world is mesmerized by him. Oprah's 200 million followers are out to elect Obama. Also, Dick Morris of Fox News was sent to Kenya to help Odinga run his campaign! I find that unbelievable. The occultists are "weaving lazy 8's around McCain's mind to make him look confused and like an idiot". Bree K. said we need to break these curses off of him that are being sent from Kenya."

Sounds like a bad stereotype of Vodoun or Santeria (and as always, stereotypes are false most of the time), not African religion from the other side of Africa, dammit!

Even weirder is that evidently all Islam loves and worships Obama. OK, fine I grant that I think he's got a cult of personality around him, but Al-Hakim bi amr Allah he ain't. Even stupider is that 1 billion Muslims are not only all apostates, but all worshiping an American politician. What's Obama's election matter to the average Acehnese or Hui? Frankly, this stupidity can't be addressed beyond this because out comes a roaring beast of profanity and derision, including possibly ban-worthy comments.

Even stupider is that Kikuyu are evidently Arabs, now. What. the. flying. fuck?

Even stupider is that hokum is evidently believably a threat to these guys. All who believe in magic, give me 5 bucks by my keyboard.

This is actually a very good example of something I've seen before in the dominionist movement -- the tendency to put faith in Big Lies to such an extend that additional *layers* of Big Lies are actually built on earlier ones. The original Big Lie in this case is "Barack Obama is a Muslim", and the one apparently built on it is "All Islam loves Obama".

(I'm not sure what's more inclined to make my brain want to explode .. the idea that having the middle name "Hussein" makes someone a Muslim despite proof to the contrary, or the idea that *all of Islam* -- this would include the Sunni and Shi'a agreeing with each other, BTW -- is somehow unanimous in its worship of an American politician. Unless maybe it's the idea that being a Muslim would be an automatic disqualifier for the presidency.)

The sad thing is, this *is* pretty much the type of rhetoric that is being promoted in the Joel's Army community as of late (along with various claims that Palin herself has specific "annointings" and/or is otherwise divinely appointed to be President of the US--complete with imprecatory prayers for the death of John McCain in office).

And this may actually be on the *lighter* end. :P

Of note, Bruce Wilson and Ruth on Talk to Action have been writing a lot recently (and I've been assisting them in research) with the kinds of stuff being promoted--we're likely seeing this both because a) Palin is the most explicitly-connected high-level candidate to Joel's Army since...hell, ever, and b) there is a very real chance that a good deal of the present political influence of Joel's Army folks may be partially neutered on the Federal level soon (especially if Obama wins the Presidential election, there is a real chance the Republican party could end up splitting over the issue of its steeplejacking by dominionists).

And the rhetoric is likely to get far worse before it gets better. :P

(As a minor aside--you *may* want to place the text behind a cut, or at least a warning re the original link that this may be potentially triggering to ex-neopentecostal dominionists. Not an issue for most folks, admittedly, but we *do* have a non-negligible population who are in fact walkaways from the groups promoting this explicit sort of stuff--and injesus.com is a site that is known in particular (along with the "Elijah List", which I will *not* be linking to due to potential triggering issues) to be connected with abusive "Joel's Army" gruops in particular. Hence why I can safely state this isn't a "Landover Baptist"-type affair.)

Yes, I heard this type of crap constantly in my parent's church. There are people who really believe this stuff, and they make sure to "educate" their children to believe it, too.

Stuff like setting up church schools, where you have to be a member to get your kids in the school, and sign a stack of releases and confidentiality agreements. And agreeing to attend all church services.

Luckily, the church school only opened my senior year.

Considering the overall connection to reality is tenuous and strained at best, to say that details of that story are a bit suspect is putting it very kindly. It's pretty safe to say that whoever wrote the email understands their own fantasy of what happened perfectly, but has little or no understanding of the reality.

It's remotely possible that a chicken was sacrificed somewhere. What color, and why, are anyone's guess. It's even possible they were trying to get Vista to boot on the village computer, who knows.

Now I know why I woke up 4 hours prior to normal for me. Jesus is embarrassed people! It's one thing to be malicious it's another to be this idiotic/gullible as well! That and I work with a pagan person. No they would not bother very much with this. However I see my current state of residency (NV) doing the same thing as of late as they did when electing Bush. Still voting republican, hoping that they can pull some head out of ass hat trick. Well I am sorry to say that both options disgust me so much this time around that I will do the same thing I did when bush ran the second time. That being of course to vote for a green party presidential candidate or whatever small party comes next on the ballot after the knuckleheads who think they can do something worthwhile with this country/world climate we have.
