We're missing our friend. To paraphrase Dave, it's been a very strange and difficult week. It is evident that this profound sorrow is common between band, crew and fans. The audiences here at the Gorge are making their feelings known. Their gestures of remembrance are felt on stage. These are shows of healing, companionship, and emotion. It is fitting that we can share this in a special place like the Gorge. Today is our thirtieth show here, and sadly one of us isn't here to celebrate the anniversary. Thank you all for your love and continued support.

GORGE VIGIL

This has been a collaborative effort by many people on Antsmarching. org and the members of the Warehouse board.

ALL THREE NIGHTS:

When the last song is over and the band walks off the stage (before the encore) , we as the crowd..............

* PUT ON OUR SUNGLASSES FOR ROI
* SHINE A WHITE LIGHT (i.e. flashlight, white glow sticks, cell phones, etc.) THEN......................

NIGHT 1:

* LOUD AND PROUD... ALL SING "SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW"

Here are the lyrics:

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

REPEAT

NIGHT 2:

* LOUD AND PROUD... ALL SING "IF I ONLY HAD A BRAIN" (This is from LeRoi's solo in Bartender)

Here are the lyrics:

I could while away the hours, conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain.

And my head I'd be scratchin' while
my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

I'd unravel every riddle for any individ'le,
In trouble or in pain.

With the thoughts you'll be thinkin'
you could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain.

REPEAT

NIGHT 3:

* AND To Tell DMB....EVERYTHING IS GONNA BE ALL RIGHT AND WE STILL ARE IN LOVE WITH THEM... ALL SING
"THREE LITTLE BIRDS"!

Here are these lyrics:

Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right.

Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"

Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', ("This is my message to you-ou-ou:")

REPEAT

Over the next few weeks some hopefully GREAT changes will be made to the community. And that mainly involves us making the extra effort to make the community a bit more active when there isn't a tour going on. I get busy with my life, as do Megan and Helen - so we are looking to add on more mods to make the quiet time go by.

Attached is a survey for you to fill out. Comments will be screened. We will be picking 2 or 3 other people. I'm looking forward to making the positive changes within the next few weeks or so.

Thanks, and good luck!

Care to share some of your concert experiences with us?
What do you feel that you'd be able to provide to the community?:
How often do you feel you'd be able to post?
What other mod positions/experience have you had in the past on LJ? If any? And which communities?
In what ways do you feel that you'd be able to make the community more active?

Raley Field and USANA Amphitheatre Shows Postponed
08/25/2008

Dave Matthews Band is postponing tonight's show at Raley Field in West Sacramento, CA and Wednesday's show at USANA Amphitheatre in West Valley, UT. We apologize for any inconvenience and will announce more information on these two dates as soon as it becomes available.

Memories of Roi whirling about. The show tonight was at times somber, but fun and full of energy as well. Band and crew walked off stage talking about Fonz's funky intro to Crush and Rashawn's flugelhorn solo in Stolen Away. On to Phoenix. We hear there's good hot sauce and tacos on the bus. See you tomorrow. Thanks for hangin' with us.

Thanks to a friend of the Warehouse, LeRoi Moore's funeral will not be open to the public, it will be private for family and close friends.

However, plans for memorial services will be decided next week for fans, more information to come as it becomes avalible.

so as i was listening to DMB today doing some painting, I thought a lot about LeRoi and how I'm going to miss such beautiful music. It also got me thinking about how listening to their music has helped me through a lot of tough times in my life, from breakups to deaths in the family. In light of this sad event, I thought it might be nice for all of us to post a line or passage from one of DMB's songs that has helped us work through the difficult times, or has been an inspiration to us. Might get the Dave fans to start thinking happy thoughts again.

The one I can think of off the bat is from "You Never Know":

"There's not a moment to lose in the game
don't let the troubles in your head
steal too much time, you'll soon be dead
so play

Oh fall down
it won't be so long now
out of the darkness
comes light like a flash
you think you can
you think you can
sometimes that is the problem
dream little darling, dream
"

Just a reminder to stay focused on the positive things in life. =]

hey all,
i'm trying to find a recording of #40 from 5.10.1995. I know it's rare, but I also know it's out there, I just lost it when I got a new computer. It's my all time favorite DMB song so if anyone can help a fellow Nancie out I'd be greatly appreciative. I know there are a lot of different versions of the song, so I put the lyrics behind a cut to elimante any confusion as to which one I want.

but a lover's kiss is better than angels.. )

As we sat this afternoon contemplating the loss of our brother, we wondered how we could possibly do a show today. Dave put it into perspective stating, "There's no place I'd rather be than here with you guys right now." We cherish special memories of our lost friend. Tonight, Dave told a story about LeRoi at a bar in Virginia where the cash register was near the stage and LeRoi leaned on the register because "standing had become a chore". Roi proceeded to play the most beautiful version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Dave said, "that was the day I fell in love with him. And I'm still in love with him." It's safe to say we all were in love with him. "It's always easier to leave, than to be left." -DM

LeRoi Moore, the sax player in Dave Matthews Band, has died... He was 46!! The below video was shot by myself during the 2008 Rothbury Music Fest. a month ago where Dave Mathews tells the crowd about LeRoi's injuries...

Moore was seriously injured in an ATV accident June 30th outside Charlottesville... He had a punctured lung and broken ribs... He went back into the hospital last month due to complications and has now died :( Leori is being replaced by Jeff Coffin from Bela Fleck and the Flecktones...

I live in LA and coming through the TMZ pipeline, people (who work there and those who know people who work there), are saying LeRoi died. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I hate getting all worked up without really knowing but it's come from a couple different folks (however, all TMZ-related).
