Dances of Vice in SPIN Magazine, May Issue
spin1 spin2

Dances of Vice is featured in Spin Magazine, May Issue, page 44. Thanks to [info]ikichi for scanning it! (Full spread behind cut.)

It's too bad they didn't mention The Deadfly Ensemble or Desert Sin! I suppose they were more interested in the fashion aspect of the event. The next festival will be from August 22-24, 2008. Mark your calendars! Details will be announced shortly - but what I will reveal is that a live Baroque orchestra and a fantastic "fashion theatre" featuring 18th century, steampunk, Victorian and early 20th century fashion (including underwear!) will be among the festival highlights.

We anticipate 1,200+ elegant attendees at the DOVF II. If you're interested in advertising your business or being a vendor at the next Dances of Vice Festival in August 2008, visit the DOVF II website for our rate sheet here: http://www.dancesofvice.com/DOVFII/index.html

Noogies? Noogies?

Coming hard on the heels of this baffling stuff, I have concluded that within a few more decades the American language will be utterly incomprehensible to the rest of the English-speaking world.

Good to get that nice big chunk of press, though. But you're right, it's odd that it seems to be in the 'Noise' section and they didn't mention the music.

Haha, how bizarre. I don't want anyone to talk bad about me. I also hope I don't do my hair the same each times.

I'm not exactly sure what a noogie is, and why I should fear one for dressing in vintage clothes is beyond me! Maybe they think we're a total nerd herd. (Bet they don't use that term in England.)

On a different note, we'll be seeing you and Andy in a couple of weeks :)

A noogie is when you rub your knuckles against someone's scalp until it hurts. It is a schoolyard bully tactic.

They waited till May to run this, and then they didn't mention the music. Harrumph.

Ah, yes, Leipzig is looming. And I don't have a thing to wear!

We don't really have any plans for our WGT yet (beyond turning up in Leipzig and saying, 'What now?') but if you've got a spare lunchtime at some point over the festival, how about popping up to the Zest Restaurant? (Erm, send me an email or something, because I think I'm going a little off topic now!)

Congratulations on the well-deserved news coverage. The publications list begins with Spin and the New York Times and I daresay will one day include the textbooks.

Seriously, I'm in a magazine. The hell? I'm an obscure personage! *hisses at the light*

;P

This is good press for the DoV thing, though.

Off topic, but am I the only one who got the Robyn Hitchcock/Andy Partridge thing and laughed myself silly?
